About this property
The Trees of Zar
The Location
The Trees of Zar is seated like an armchair at the upper reaches of Sea Point. With the Signal Hill reserve as its forest back-drop and the Atlantic ocean sprawling in front of it, this is your ultimate viewing point.
You can expect a comfortable, beautiful, whimsical space in a gorgeous city with breathtaking sunsets.
We look forward to hosting you.
The space
With a Zen-like quality, the house is tranquil and nurturing. You will feel that from the moment you step inside. Being located on a mountain slope, the entrance to the property is steep, so guests must be able to climb a few steps.
The scent of wood permeates from the spruce and larch construction and hand-craft and attention to detail is the order of the day. The house feels airy and spacious and sunlight patterns dance playfully around the space. The 200sqm footprint covers 2 spacious bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, an atrium with a skylight, open plan kitchen & lounge, 2 enclosed courtyards and a verandah the entire length of the house.
The surrounding garden and 13m private lap pool are designed for outdoor, laid-back leisure. You will feel the openness and effects of nature in an otherwise busy city. On cooler days, you’ll want to curl up and relax inside the calm house. The open plan living area is where all the living happens. The kitchen is well appointed and meals may be taken at the indoor dining table or outdoors on the verandah.
The tranquil 'sleeping quarters' is a cocooned part of the house - deliberately positioned with its back to the living area and facing the mountain. The two bedrooms - the Kalahari room and Autumn Shadows and their two bathrooms are a quieter, private and even more peaceful part of the house, with a tucked-away feel which accommodates a maximum of 4 adults over the age of 12yrs. As a little creature comfort, a kimono is offered for each guest’s use during their stay and quality bathroom amenities are supplied by a local company O’live.
For guests wanting to treat themselves, a massage bed is available on site and we can share the details of our local masseuse.
NB. This is definitely a slow house.
Guest access
Detached home with full access. We all love to wander the world, but it’s against Airbnb’s Terms of Service for anyone under the age of 18 to rent this property.
Other things to note
To counter the effects of load shedding, the house has a gas stove, solar-power battery back-up and rechargeable lights. Wifi operates on an isolated UPS. Even with the back-up, you may find yourself being drawn to the outdoor braai/bbq area.
As the private pool is unmanned with no safety gate, this property is not suitable for kids under 12yrs.
