About this property

Relax in a tranquil log home on direct lake front property. The Hermitage awaits

Welcome to a secluded log home on 4 acres of Walkers Pond! First time offered for rental 2024. Our home is not in a HOA or being listed by a rental agency. Tranquility and privacy await your family. Our home is located on a dirt road, no traffic and no deliveries. Kayak around the lake, take the canoe out for a day of fishing (bass and pickerel are plentiful) or sunbathe on the 40' dock. Bring a yoga mat and find inner peace while you take in the sunrise. Sandy beach area is Mother Nature dependent. Motor boats of any kind are not permitted on the pond. Two kayaks, a canoe and beach chairs are provided as well as life jackets and beach towels. Walk or bike the miles of paths on Hawksnest State Park directly connected to the property. Dogs are welcome! One dog per booking please. Grill some fresh local seafood on the new Weber grill. Relax on the 900 square foot deck (which has an oversized outdoor shower) or take a short drive to the restaurants, galleries and boutiques of the quaint villages. You can always find some live music at any of the area venues. For the golfers, you can experience a day of golf at any of the 27 public courses on the Cape. There are at least five 18 hole championship courses within a half hour drive. Enjoy the Bay side beaches with beautiful sunsets, especially at low tide, or the National Seashore beaches. Cranberry bogs, theatre, mini-golf and go carts as well as baseball are always popular attractions and all close by. The Hermitage offers the best of both worlds! You can relax at the cabin all week or take in all the beauty that the Cape has to offer.

Tranquility

The cabin is a rustic, private, tranquil retreat. Paddling on the pond and relaxing on the floating dock was great. The cabin was neat, clean and comfortable. Ken and Dawn were very attentive and accommodating. It is convenient to beaches, attractions and restaurants. Thank you!

The best family getaway on Cape Cod

Our stay at the log cabin was A+++ and we highly recommend it. The hosts were very responsive and provided detailed info about the cabin and area. When we arrived, the cabin was impeccably clean and exceeded all our expectations. The cabin itself is a perfect blend of traditional log cabin aesthetics and modern amenities – the owners have truly thought of everything! The interior is warm and inviting, with cozy furnishings that make you feel right at home. The open floor plan was an ideal setting for relaxing family evenings together. The wooded landscape and outdoor spaces were highlights of our stay. The large deck, equipped with a grill, was perfect for enjoying our morning coffee and our meals together with a perfect view of the water. We spent countless hours on the private dock swimming, boating, and soaking up the sun. The location of the cabin is fantastic too, offering a peaceful retreat while still being so close to local attractions and restaurants. We enjoyed exploring several charming towns like Chatham and Orleans, and visiting nearby beaches. I was initially apprehensive about the property being on a dirt road, but it 100% added to its peacefulness, and the entire family enjoyed walking and running on the trails right outside its door. The stunning natural beauty, comfortable accommodations, and thoughtful amenities made this cabin the perfect family getaway. We can’t wait to return and create more wonderful memories at this idyllic retreat.
