Though it’s older, it has a charm to it. The property is great location, maintained, and convenient. It does needs a few updates like newer rugs, maybe update a couple of pieces of furniture replaced and better lighting, but it’s a cabin and nothing was a major turnoff. If you’re on the fence, just book it! You won’t regret it.

About the host
Your host
Roddy's Roost has been in our family for over 75 years. I, Nancy, represent the family members/owners and I co-host with Carrie who is our local manager and an amazing superhost. The Roost has been passed down from one generation to the next and it has only been a family lake house used for rest and retreat since it was constructed shortly after WWII. In an attempt to keep her alive and well for many more generations, we have opened her up for others to enjoy.
Why they chose this property
The cabin is situated on Lake Catherine. The winding hilly road leading to the cabin is quiet and closed to through traffic. The woods and trees surrounding the area provides a habitat for a variety of wildlife. The lake provides ample recreation throughout the seasons.
What makes this property unique
The Roost is special in so many ways. The beautiful antique solid wood knotty pine walls and ceilings throughout the house wraps you in warmth and nostalgia. The large screened in porch boasts a variety of rocking chairs perfect for watching the sun come up or down with a warm cup of coffee or tea. Two sleeping beds on the porch provide a unique outdoor sleeping experience for those that want to fall asleep watching the fireflies and listening to the crickets chirp. Daytime naps are a must. Families of deer, geese, great blue herons and other wildlife grace the lawn at dawn most days. The outdoor fire pit area is a relaxing place to sit outside when the weather is nice. The dock has a boat slip perfect for those traveling with a boat of who take advantage of the boat rentals on the lake. We have several kayaks available also for the adventurous guest. Wifi and smart flat screen TV is available to stream movies and sports but our favorite thing to do is unplug and recharge ourselves with family games, baking and reading on the porch. The kitchen is fully stocked for cooking and staying in but downtown Hot Springs and fine dining is a 15 minute drive. We have a charcoal grill on the outdoor deck and seating as well. The master bedroom and bathroom is located on one end of the house while the other two bedrooms and bathroom are on the other end providing privacy for both wings. The living room, dining area, kitchen and porch are in the middle. This layout makes the house ideal for sharing with with friends or children. The overall feeling of peace and relaxation is what makes the Roost most enjoyable. Her walls have always held beautiful family memories and we hope they always will.
