About this property

A Quiet Getaway Near Natural Bridge SP, The Red River Gorge, And Muir Valley

Rock Haven is a beautiful and modern multilevel cabin built in front of a limestone cliff that towers above it, located in a secluded forest valley adjacent to Natural Bridge State Park and near the Red River Gorge. It easily accommodates 10 persons. Come and feel the excitement of being in the middle of the forest, enjoy the beautifully designed wood interior, and relax in this comfortable vacation home, that is supplied with Wifi and a landline phone. If you are interested in staying at Rock Haven, click on "Send a message" or click on "Request to Book."
The lovely spaces in Rock Haven include four bedrooms including one on the middle level, one on the lower level with two beds, and the two loft bedrooms (both without doors) , 2 ½ baths, a whirlpool room with a view of the rocky cliff, a fully equipped and roomy kitchen, an inviting spacious living room, a fantastic sun-room to relax in, a front deck surrounded by the tall trees, and a back deck almost within arm’s reach of the cliff. All linens, blankets, and towels, and some basic kitchen items such as spices and napkins are provided so all you need to bring is food, drink and personal items to have the perfect stay. The deep woods and the cliff-side location moderate the summer heat and winter cold and ensure that only the sounds of nature are heard. In addition, the location is close to the area's attractions--the many arches, hiking trails, scenic drives, and a surprising variety of restaurants.
Cell phone service is available--best via Verizon, spotty for other providers unless one goes to the top of the hill. There is Wifi, a TV and a DVD player, but no cable service. Feel free to stream or bring your own movies for family entertainment. You can choose not to use the Wifi, and maybe discover, or experience again, how rewarding it is to quietly sit on the deck and to enjoy the sounds of the forest both in early morning and in the evenings. This is a wonderful way to experience nature.

A beautiful retreat

We really enjoyed our stay! The one thing I would suggest for visitors is to have a car with 4wd and good clearance. The road is not in great condition due to all the snow, ice, and now mud. The ruts and holes are deep and would not be safe to navigate with 2wd.

Cozy, roomy cabin

The cabin and surroundings are beautiful! My brother and I, our spouses, and our adult children gathered for a few days for Thanksgiving. We loved the roomy kitchen that overlooks the family room. The rock face behind the cabin is amazing. And, we spent one afternoon hiking to the Natural Bridge, just a short drive away. We hope to come back and stay again in the future.

Great Cabin for a Friends and Fam

This cabin is spacious and clean, has wonderful views and decks, and enough separate rooms and beds that you can get a small band of friends together pretty easily. We use it as a home base for climbing and it’s well located for that. When the weather is colder, it’s nice to comeback somewhere comfy and warm instead of roughing it out in a tent!

Perfect for our group

We had a couple non-climbers and dog, plus four climbers. None of us had done our research in advance to decide which area we wanted to climb or hike in so we loved being central and just picking something different (yet close by) every day! Really appreciated the big communal kitchen for gathering, and cozy living room below. Nice thermostat and heating/cooling system is good. Porch views in evening are fantastic over the changing leaves and the sunset. I felt like I was in a treehouse sipping tea, sitting in a cozy chair while looking out living room window!

Perfrct Quiet Location

Our stay was everything we wanted. Close to rock climbing, restraunts, and local shoppin! Yet, still quiet and secluded for the much needed disconnect from life!

Much needed getaway

When we booked this property we were excited and expected a beautiful home and view, but the pictures honestly do not do it justice! It’s on a very secluded road with a few other cabins, but you would never know it, which I LOVED! You can literally walk out on the back porch upstairs and reach out and touch the mountain side. So gorgeous!! They also were happy to host our entire family, including our 120 lb Great Pyrenees. We absolutely loved that it was pet friendly. There was so much room to accommodate all of us and plenty of extra towels and bedding in case we needed it. I asked if we could show up a couple hours early for check in so we could get set up and do some grocery shopping, Corrie was gracious enough to make the home available early. We had a couple questions about things throughout our stay and Corrie was SO responsive! Definitely the best host that I have ever dealt with. This property was so beautiful and we plan to come back next fall to see the mountains in all their beauty!

Family Get Away

Property was as advertised. We were looking for privacy and was as expected. There were some small issues 1. The gas grill electric starter would not light, so we had to buy a lighter. 2. The microwave was not working but the second day we noticed the outlet breaker the microwave was plugged into was tripped, and we reset it. We advised Corrie who was quick to answer. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would book the property again.

Eek

I brought some of my staff down to Red River Gorge to relax and have some fun before our upcoming busy season. The overall cabin itself was good. Location is perfect, directions were excellent. However, when we arrived Friday night we were greeted by cockroaches infesting the kitchen. I made contact with Corrie, she did say she was surprised to hear that as her last tenates 2 weeks prior had complained of the same thing and they treated. Unfortunately that didn't work. On the phone with her I let her know that the microwave wasn't working either. She sent her handyman out late Saturday to spray and fix the microwave. Again, neither of those things were taken care of. The red River Gorge was beautiful though, and we were able to make the most of it as we couldn't find anywhere else to sleep and we were not offered any kind of refund.

Great Place

The house was centrally located for all things RRG. Accommodations were modest, but we didn’t spend much time inside the house anyway. You are in a rock face, so there are bugs inside but we looked at them as guests with us 😊 would definitely use this house again if we ever returned

Devastated Family

ROACHES ROACHES ROACHES. This property is infested with roaches. It is dirty (cobwebs and excessive dust) and has a very bad smell of cleaning agents, air fresheners and it is musty. Smoke detectors (required by Kentucky state law) were missing and this is a safety hazard. Bed linens were dirty and had a foul odor. Our vacation was ruined as we could not complete our stay.

Great location

We had a great stay. The house was clean and has everything we needed for 8 people. The host provided many good recommendations for dinning and activities. One to add to the list was red point barbecue for dinner and drinks! If we are in the area again we would definitely stay there

Paradise in the wood

It was a great 4 days stay. The house was perfectly equipped, the rooms are very spacious. Kitchen clean, and the 2 livings rooms also good. We were worried about the bugs, because outside are a lot, but inside we saw only a few ones. We love the quiet place and at the same time close to everything. We did a lot of activities around the house that were not far than 20 min. The communication with the owner was also fast. We had a small issue at the beginning and she was able to solve very quick. We will recommend this place to everyone!! Great stay!

Cabin in the woods

Nice cabin in the woods. Plenty of space for my family of 5. Super close to RRG and activities. Hometown restaurants nearby along with the state park restaurant. State Park pool was closed for maintenance issues so we didn't get to swim, but no biggie. It was 100° out while we're there but the house stayed cool. Definitely would stay again.

Natural Bridge with 4 Grandsons

We all loved Rock Haven. The cabin is close to Natural Bridge, Red River Gorge and Sky Bridge. We usually had all meals at the cabin since it is close to everything. Gorge Underground is just down the road from Rock Haven. The boys enjoyed having their own spaces and beds. The middle bedroom is just off of the kitchen and convenient for everything going on. I am not a stairs person (and my husband laughed at me for booking this cabin), but the layout was perfect for our group, plenty of space for alone time for each of the boys. Our grandsons were a great help getting our cars unloaded and again loaded at the end of our stay since there are a lot of stairs to enter the cabin. The view was great, the cabin was clean and comfortable, and the directions were easy to follow.

Would stay again.

Easy check in. Beautiful area. Very close to kayaking in caves, zip line and state park. There are local resteraunts with good food. House can accommodate a large family with plenty of room. Great kitchen. Beds were comfortably. Only down side, we could not use the whirlpool tub due to water pressure. But owner was very easy to get ahold of and communicate with. Would stay again.

About the host

Hosted by Corrie Vos

Host profile image
My husband, Arvin Vos, and I were living in Bowling Green, KY, where he taught philosophy and I practiced psychology, when together with our daughter we bought Rock Haven. We have had marvelous family times there with our five children and grandchildren. Now that we have retired to Michigan and our children have established themselves in places across the country, we especially enjoy spending time together at Rock Haven.

Why they chose this property

The moment we saw Rock Haven, built almost against a towering cliff, surrounded by forest, built of local lumber inside and out, we knew we wanted to own it. Over the years we have added several rooms, modified the most rustic features to increase comfort and convenience, and built a beautiful oak spiral stairs leading up to the upper level. We are happy to share it with our guests, which defrays some of our costs, and provides some work for our housekeepers.

What makes this property unique

We love our beautiful and comfy cabin, the rock climbing opportunities, the cycling in the Gorge, eating at restaurants like Miguel's pizza and Rock House, and the fantastic scenery and hiking, but what we love most is that it is a quiet and peaceful place to enjoy being in nature.
