About this property

Beautiful Countryside with Forest Service Border. Next to Custer State Park

6 miles to Custer. 11 acres with a flowing creek and 4 bedroom house backed up to Forest Service with a fire pit and barn, air conditioning and fiber optic WiFi In the summer Ferdinand and Milkshake often graze the pasture. They are Highland and Highland Park steers. The house is situated against Forest Service with miles of hiking and elk habitat. Stockade Lake is within 3 miles and you can use the canoes and body boards from the rental at the Lake. Plenty of public land abounds. In fact, just down the road you can hike along French Creek into Stockade Lake. All public. If you prefer, you can sit by the firepit and relax or sit along the rushing French Creek (it runs through the property) and watch Ferdinand and Milkshake graze. Fishing allowed in the creek. Let the kids entertain themselves running outside, camping in the traditional native sleeping area or playing ping pong, foos ball and arcade games in the garage. Maybe an adult game of poker in the garage space that evening? You will love that you are within minutes of the entrance to Custer State Park. We have created a magical space to create memories. Feels like you are miles from nowhere but, you are within 6 miles of Custer city.

Beautiful area and wonderful stay

We took our kids here on a family vacation and we all loved it. The house was it great shape and had so many activities to keep the kids entertained. They were ages 9-13, and never got bored. They explored the creek, went hiking in the Black Hills National Forest right out the back door, and played many of the games the host provided. The highlight for our daughter (and also the boys) was getting to see Penelope and Ferdinand. The house is very close to so many outdoor attractions like Stockade Lake, Bismarck Lake, and Custer State Park. We always had many choices on outdoor activities. The house had everything we needed, as well as a great stock of coffee. Several mornings I took some coffee outside to watch the peaceful morning while the kids slept in a bit. Thank you for making our vacation perfect and memorable!

I am a local physician and farm owner. My husband and I run several VRBOs all within 6 miles of one another and near our home. They are on Lower French Creek, American Center Road and Rocky Rd. They are all within minutes of the west entrance to Custer State Park. I enjoy sharing the area with families and creating a local experience.
We are very familiar with the local and regional area as I have lived here for fifty years now.

Why they chose this property

Nestled in front of National Forest Service this house is the perfect retreat from business. It has a nice creek running through the property and French Creek runs all the way to Stockade Lake 3 miles away. Near the house is an 18 foot tipi for play or stay. Penelope the mini donkey and Ferdinand the Highland Bull will graze in the pasture during the summer. Explore and hike the surrounding area or enjoy a drink on the decks or around the fire pit. Just down the road is an original one room school house and you can walk French Creek to Stockade all along public land. We will have fishing poles, canoes and body boards so you can enjoy the lake like we do!!
At night, the firepit is a nice place to relax.
Available at the house is a gas grill, a charcoal grill and a blackstone grill. We ask you clean it after using to leave it nice for the next guests.
The garage houses a poker table, foos ball table and ping pong table. That area will also include two double beds for camping out or over flow (just for fun) Those beds are not included in the total bedrooms and the garage is not heated or cooled.
We love the city of Custer, all the surrounding fun communities and the Park. There is so much to do!!! We are on the way to Yellowstone Country and centrally located to Rapid City, Keystone, Custer State Park, Hill City and Hot Springs. Wind Cave is nearby. There is a garden on the property that owners tend to and fruit trees as well.

What makes this property unique

Our land and animals, along with the creek, makes my property unique. I also have a garden area that we will be planting up for kitchen use (although hail and temperature make for late harvests) We are close to town (about 6 miles). We are close to Stockade Lake and the entrance to Custer State Park. I have been renting for years and have a high standard for bedding, linens, cleanliness and I have a unique flare for decorating the house and surrounding area. It is a private area where you can relax and be as chill as you would like. The stars are abundant and kids can run and play safely. We have been intentional about having games available for both adults and kids to create a place to bond. The fire pit is a natural gathering area in the beautiful Black Hills.
