About this property

Sycamore Landing - Casual Lakefront Living at It's Best!

Looking for something a little different for your lakeside vacation? Escape to Sycamore Landing. The 165 feet of level lakefront gives you plenty of elbow room and unobstructed vistas of the Bristol Mountains and a 180 degree lake view of the quiet south end of beautiful Canandaigua Lake. The private, gravel road minimizes traffic and maximizes privacy. Retreat from the daily grind and enjoy lake living in an incredible natural setting. Our traditional lake cottage offers everything from boating, swimming, kayaking and fishing. Sit and watch bald eagles fly from their nearby nesting grounds, hummingbirds flock to your window daily, ducks and geese wander and herons stand watch in the marshlands at the end of the lake. Relax under the large sycamore tree which beckons you to sit and soak up the incredible beauty of Canandaigua Lake and rolling hillsides.

The screened front porch gives you the traditional “lake” feeling - have a meal, a cool drink or just relax and read a good book (and maybe fall asleep!) while gazing out on a panoramic view of the lake. The sliding glass door from the porch leads to the indoor living space with large windows featuring lake views welcoming you to relax without taking you away from the lake. Our eat-in kitchen is fully stocked with everything you need to prepare meals. The master bedroom overlooks the lake while still being shaded by our lovely sycamore tree. The 2nd bedroom offers a view of the cliffs and seasonal waterfall behind our cottage.

The yard offers multiple grassy level areas to play yard games, stretch out under the sun or enjoy a bon fire. The front yard offers plenty of room for lounging lakeside, while the back yard is great for barbecuing and viewing the picturesque cliffs. Just a few steps up to the large side yard, yields additional space for a tent or yard games with spectacular vistas of the south end of the lake.
Bring your boat and use the available mooring whips installed on the permanent dock for your use. Woodville boat launch just across the lake makes for an easy launch and there is room for trailer storage at the cottage during your stay.
Fisherman can get a hassle-free, early morning start from this ideal location.
Kayakers love this location. Enjoy the calm open lake water of the south end or venture into the West River Marsh and enjoy up to 4 miles of easy paddling while you spot bald eagles, herons, turtles and more! Bring your own kayak or use the ones provided.
Sycamore Landing makes a terrific home base for land lover activities as well. Hikers can choose all types of hiking experiences from novice to challenging including the Parish Glen, Conklin Gully (12 Waterfalls), Hi Tor Management Area and Cumming Nature Center.
We chose this location because it is “the road less traveled”, yet still centered among a wide variety of activities and amenities. Canandaigua offers convenient shopping, waterparks, and historic landmarks, while Naples (15 min.) is home to a wonderful artisan community that offers everything from wood carvings to watercolor paintings and everything in between. Looking for a home base for your wine tours? We are just a short run to many of the finest wineries on Keuka and Seneca Lake wineries.
During your stay at Sycamore Landing you will always feel “connected” to the lake and nature, whether you are inside or out, engaging in activities on the lake or off, or just looking for some rest and relaxation with one of the most picturesque settings in the world. We know you’ll enjoy your stay.

Off season stay
We booked after Labor Day and enjoyed a peaceful stay at the south end of the lake. Sunny days were spent kayaking, boating, golfing or just reading a book. Even the inclement day held delights in watching the storm approach and the lightening show at night. Highly recommend this slice of heaven.

Lake Livin’ Fun!
We had a wonderful stay at Sycamore Landing. The cottage has everything you will need and the porch is amazing! My kids loved fishing off the dock and we enjoyed lots of local treats: Monica’s grape pie, CMAC and lots of boating on Canadaigua.

Wonderful, quiet getaway
This stay exceeded our expectations. This is a wonderful, clean, comfortable and casual home at the quiet end of Lake Canandaigua. The porch is excellent - we ate every meal out there, and spent a good portion of our time there. The house and grounds are well maintained. We also appreciated having modern AC, as there were a few hot days during our stay. Highly recommended.

All around fabulous!
We enjoyed all the cottage had to offer. They have thought of everything to make you comfortable. That porch is AMAZING. Clean and great location! Owners are responsive and super friendly. Will gladly come back again. Only suggestion we have is maybe add a railing on one of the set of steps down from parking - we had two seniors that made them a little nervous.

Another wonderful week at the lake cottage
Once again I stayed at the Lakefront Cottage for a week to visit with my daughter and her kids. This was probably the best week ever. The weather was perfect and such a beautiful time of year. The kids fished off the dock, swam and kayaked. We hiked, had ice cream in Naples, watched the eagles soar by, and generally loved every minute. The cottage is so comfortable, the kitchen has everything you need, and the views are amazing. Many thanks to Sally and Bob for sharing their delightful home with us again.

Clean, well-appointed cottage with terrific views of the lake both in inside and out.
What we liked: -Lots of seating both inside and out to comfortably accommodate a group of 5 (2 picnic tables, a patio table and a dining room table). -Furnishings are modern and sofas look new. -The cottage feels spacious. -Beautiful views of the lake and hills from wonderful screen porch. One note to owner: The deck outside the sliding glass door is dangerously slippery when wet -- likely due to a bit of algae or moss that really isn't all that apparent. However, we had several adults wipe-out after an afternoon rain storm and needed to block that entry to the house until the deck was thoroughly dry.

Fantastic house!
We loved our stay. Owners fantastic. Location also fantastic. House offers lots of outdoor activities like kayaking and fishing ( bring your own poles) Our only complaint was the Wifi service. It didn't work during our stay. The owner offered to send Dish out to fix the service. That said, wifi was only allowed for email and general service no streaming or Netflix. We decided against DISH and disconnected for the week. Not so bad since the lakefront was awesome. Would definitely come back and recommend!

Another wonderful week on the lake
This was my seventh stay at the Coupal's cottage. As always, the cottage was clean and comfortable. My grandkids love visiting me there and they fish off the dock, kayak, play games in the yard and we all enjoy taking walks along the quiet, secluded roads. On occasion I have stayed at other properties in the area, but this one is my favorite. The views of the lake and surrounding mountains are amazing. Look forward to coming back.

Beautiful place!!!
My friends and I just want to thank the Coupal's for such a great place to stay and unwind! The pictures of this property DO NOT do this cottage/camp justice!!!! Everything was great!!! I took so many pictures of the screened in porch because I want one like theirs!!! Camp was very well taken care of - like folks who really appreciate their place. Also, owners are very reachable if you need to ask them anything. Can't say enough about the place...there's a very good chance we will rent again from them. AWESOME!!! Thanks so, so much!!!

Very relaxing with beautiful views
Rain or shine gorgeous views. The house was clean, quaint, and full of all the amenities you need. The screened in porch was a game changer as early morning coffee and late night hang outs were bug free and dry. Wether fishing off the dock, reading a good book or going for a quick kayak, peace, quiet and relaxation were the order of the day. We watched the birds (including an eagle) do some fishing of their own and watched the mist and fog rise up the wooded foothills. Great great stay and wonderful property top to bottom. The nearby towns had good food and great views of their own. We recommend the town of Canadaigua for shopping and dinners out. T & J

Peaceful Lake Stay
This place won't disappoint you. The house is clean and very comfortable. The furniture is not your usual seedy cottage furniture, the floors are decent/clean and the window coverings are a notch above the usual. The kitchen is well stocked with utensils and starter supplies. I loved the screened in porch, There were many places to sit and eat including two places on the deck, one on the lawn and two places in the house. Sally and Bob were great to work with, very responsive and friendly. I had to call them twice about two questions I had and they returned calls promptly. Sally was also kind enough to meet us to allay our apprehension about the whip moorings. The dock is very sturdy, not your usual rickety structure like at some lake houses. The docking system for the boat was easy to use. Additional instructions about the whip moorings and the whole house are included in a very informative manual provided by Sally and Bob. The house is on the quiet end of the lake, right on the water. It is an easy paddle in the provided kayaks to the canals, that offer great birdwatching and fishing. We even sighted two American Bald eagles. Always a thrill. It was very enjoyable to sit on the glider on the lawn to take in the view and a few naps! The sunsets were stunning. The water was warm and clear for swimming. Just note, the seaweed was moving in, making it harder to swim, We had floats so it was fine. Just get past them and relax on your float. AND those very same weeds provide cover for the great fishing right off the dock! If fishing is your thing, Cananadaigua is the right place to be and this house gives you quick and easy access as the free boat launch is directly across the lake. In summary, this house is owned and operated by a hospitable couple interested in your vacation experience. The house is clean and comfortable. It is evident Sally and Bob are trying hard to provide a relaxing and memorable experience. We most certainly will be back! LS and NS.

Really nice cabin on the water in a quiet area of the lake
Cabin was clean and very well stocked. Furniture was comfortable and also very clean. TV, wifi and appliances worked well. Great location right on the lake. Perfect place to just relax. The only negatives are that it could use a deep cleaning (around washer/dryer, window screens, etc.) and the 1+ miles of gravel road. But, those are minor. We would definitely rent it again. Highly recommend it

Great for Kayaking lovers!
The cottage is cozy, comfortable and very clean! Great level lakefront site with a large screened porch overlooking the water. Easy access to the water with a wonderful assortment of kayaks, paddle board and sail craft. The best kayaking ever through the nearby West River Marshes, when you can paddle among water lilies, cat tails and other grasses that attract many birds as well as muskrats, turtles, herons, etc. From the end of the dock I saw many large fish swimming through the vegetation; seems perfect for dock fishing. Lots of comfortable seating on the porch as well as the decks and around the firepit conveniently placed between the porch and the lakefront. Kitchen is well equipped. If there was a 'for sale' sign I would have bought the property!!

Another perfect week on the lake
This was my sixth visit to Sycamore Landing. And, as always, we enjoyed every moment of our stay. This beautiful cottage is the perfect place to spend time with your family or friends. The grandkids enjoyed playing in the water along the beach, fishing from the dock and kayaking on the lake. The cabin is so comfortable and well stocked. We had everything we needed for the week. The kids really liked Wii, too. We went to Naples which is only 15 minutes away for ice cream at Lynnie Lou's. (the very best ever). I also went into Canandaigua to go to Runnings for extra fishing tackle. The rest of our time was spent enjoying the amazing views and relaxing on the deck. My thanks for the owners once again for sharing their home with us.

Perfect visit
This was my fourth visit to Sycamore Landing. The fall colors were amazing and the property perfect in every way. We enjoyed kayaking, fishing off the dock, sitting on the porch enjoying the views, and feeling just like we were at home. The beds are so comfortable and the kitchen well stocked with everything you need to make meals for the family. The city of Canandaigua is just 35 minutes away and a fun place to shop, visit the boat houses or shop at Wegman's. (My favorite). Naples is only about 15 minutes away for a closer grocery, library, dining, etc. I will definitely return. In fact, I already have my reservation for next year!!!!

Wonderful place
My two boys (ages 10 and 12), my parents, and I stayed at this wonderful place in mid-May. I absolutely loved being right on the water and being able to see the open water from virtually every square inch of the house (even out the second bedroom and dining area windows). We also appreciated the fact that - in contrast to the stretch of homes closer to the end of the lake which are packed together like sardines - this home has plenty of space on either side between it and the neighbors, which gives it a nice feeling of privacy and more of a connection to the surrounding nature. We had a great time using the kayaks. Two of the days we were there, the water was as smooth as glass, and it was an easy paddle to the grasses at the end of the lake. If the weather had cooperated, we would have taken them out again to find and explore the river pathway through the grasses (we found out only too late that the open river enters the lake more toward the middle, not along the shore). The house is very nicely set up, with extremely comfortable furniture on the porch and in the living room. We all spent many hours just sitting on the porch and feeling the breeze and looking at the water. I appreciated the fact that the sleeper sofa was actually set somewhat apart from the rest of the living area furniture, so there was no need to move anything to open up the bed. The place really had all the comforts of home and was very well maintained and clean. The owners were very responsive and very easy to work with. The owners even supplied extremely detailed instructions, complete with pictures, of how to get there, which we unfortunately did not consult until our GPS dumped us at a dead end into the parking area of the house next door and helpfully told us that we needed to walk the 100 feet from that point. (The owners pointed out this was a common outcome in the very helpful instructions, but I hadn't read that far.) Overall, an absolutely wonderful place which I would recommend to anyone!

Great Escape
If you're looking for an escape from the hectic, fast-paced everyday living, this quaint cottage is the place to be. The sunrises are exquisite and the sunsets are peaceful and quiet. Sycamore Landing definitely earns a 5-star rating. Sally and Bob were most helpful in getting me settled in. I'm certainly looking forward to a return visit.

Pre-wedding and honeymoon getaway
We were so relieved to have this relaxing cottage space to entertain our immediate family and escape wedding planning stresses. Then we continued the vacation after the ceremony to simply enjoy the area. We look forward to coming back!! The descriptions, photos, cleanliness, and amenities were spot on. The owners were a delight to work with. We loved kayaking, swimming, grilling out, and having a cool retreat. Coffee on the screened porch in the early morning was especially charming. The seclusion was perfect for us! We'd recommend bringing groceries down from Canandaigua though, as the prices and selection in Naples were steep and limited.

I stayed with my daughter and her children for a week at this delightful cottage on the lake. The views were awesome and the cottage was perfect in every way. Sycamore Landing
I was certainly lucky when I found the listing for sycamore landing on the VRBO web-site. From the begging the owner was verry pleasent to deal with. what a wonderfull place . It looked like we were the first people to stay there the furniture carpets t.v.(HD) batheroom and kitchen looked all new. The views from every window was spectacular, from the lake to the waterfall and the country road . While we were there we saw ducks ,geese, deer, beaver, and my personal favorite was an eagle fishing for dinner a sight I will never forget ! I would certainly recomend Sycamore Landing to freinds and family. If you are a fisherman the fishing is great right off the pier/dock. I plan to spend many more vacations at Sycamore Landing
