Fabulous retreat....

This is a really great place to be on the edge of Samara. A really thoughtfully designed apartment which lacks nothing and a virtually private pool (nobody was in the second apartment during our stay) which has again been cleverly constructed. Ideal location away from noise of village but only minutes away from beach & centre. Wildlife from balcony & at pool amazing, Howlers, Motmots & bats...

We would stay there again!

Very clean, a nice swimming pool, a short distance to walk to the ocean and the owner Debra takes great pride in her property and helping the guests have a good experience.On the porch she has a shower and faucet to wash the sand off which is a very good idea. We loved the layout of the house. The only negative is are a few noisy motor cycles that go by.

Pura Vida

We stayed here for 3 weeks during February. My favorite things: motmots and iguanas at the pool, (pool was our private oasis the whole stay), taking the bus to Playa Carrillo (my favorite pristine beach for swimming), easy walk along Samara beach to town for dinners or Saturday farmer’s market, encountering Howler Monkeys along the way. Husband LOVED the local fish market. We really appreciated the fast internet and reliable A/C. Deb was a great host- she was very hospitable and responsive.

Another great stay!

This was our second time staying at Mardelindo Apartments - our first time in this unit. We had a wonderful time. The location is perfect for self sufficient travellers - close to the beach and a small village with a convenience store and pescaderia, and about 15 minutes walk from the center of Samara. The apartment was private, clean and comfortable, and has a well equipped kitchen. Our host was accommodating of our early arrival, and responded promptly when we ran out of propane for the barbecue.

Amazing stay

This property is beautiful. The apartment was clean, had all of the appliances that I could need during my stay. The host checked in with me to make sure I made it in okay. The private pool area was very nice. It was more like staying at a friends home, than renting an apartment from someone. I highly recommend this stay

Lovely, but road traffic so close and loud.

The property was lovely. But the road was just so close, loud and so very busy all the time. The hosts were incredibly nice and loved all the friendly folks we met in general along our walks through the area toward the beach.

A Haven in Costa Rica

I need to start by thanking Deborah and her partner for being so gracious, responsive and thoughtful about what most travelers would need to enjoy Samara. My airport transfer was pre-arranged. The loft-style apartment is beautifully decorated and fully furnished with every amenity. The salt water pool was a little oasis steps from the front door. I truly appreciated the accuracy of the listing and the amount of detail included. All-in-all, a perfect vacation home within walking distance to everything.

Beautiful Samara!

Had a great trip to Samara! Beautiful little town, beautiful beach, we really enjoyed exploring it, and its surroundings. Deborah and Peter were great hosts, and we would often meet them when we went to the beach to watch the sunset in the evening. As mentioned in other reviews, the vehicle noise is a drawback, other wise the property met our expectations.

Our first trip to Costa Rica!

We had an amazing time staying here. The apartment was lovely, the host was wonderful and the location was absolutely perfect! Easily walking distance to the beach and the town is quite nice. We would highly recommend this especially if it’s your first time.

Great stay on samara

A beautiful apartment, close to the beach with a wonderful Salt water pool. It is located on a very busy street, and there is noise from traffic and the neighborhood dogs.

Perfect stay in beautiful apartment!

We loved staying in Deborah’s apartment for 3 days. It’s very spacious, beautifully setup and perfect for us while we were working remotely in Costa Rica. The attention to detail and tasteful touches are remarkable. The kitchen is fully stocked, and there’s even a W/D in the unit. Would highly recommend!

Elegant Apartment, Perfect Location

Hope to stay here again! This airy, well-decorated apartment is just a short walk from the most private end of the beach. The cozy oceanfront restaurants and bars of Samara are nearby. Mornings we watched monkeys forage for their breakfast as we had our coffee. The upstairs bedroom gets warm during the day but we slept well at night, thanks to the ac and extra wind-tunnel fan. It was just a perfect stay in every respect.

Beautiful apartment on very noisy street

Deborah was extremely communicative and gracious host. Unfortunately we left after one night due to the road noise, and intermittent electricity/AC. The apartment is beautiful, spacious, close walk to beach and town. It is on a very busy road with two bus stops right in front and traffic at all hours of day and night. Be prepared for street noise.

Loved Our Vacation

We stayed in apartment #2 for 2 weeks. We loved the apartment. It had everything that we needed. The AC was a huge bonus as it was extremely hot while we were there. The pool area is lovely with all kinds of birds to watch. The pool is shared with the other apartment, but most times we had it to ourselves. Our walk to the beach only took a few minutes. Most days we were greeted by a family of howler monkeys..a highlight for us!! Our host Deborah was kind and responded quickly when we asked for advice on shuttles or excursions. We recommend the zipline tour located below the apartment. We spent a morning with the zipline crew who were professional, kind and made the day alot of fun. As mentioned in other reviews, the road noise was the only drawback, but it didnt really bother us much as it slowed down at night. We would happily stay at this location again.

All the Comforts of Home - But Better (No Snow)

The unit is absolutely beautiful as shown in the photos. It is beautifully decorated and the kitchen has every appliance you need. It is literally a 2 min walk to lovely Samara beach. Walking along the beach to the town is relaxing and in town there are lots of restaurants to enjoy and mercados in which to shop. The pool is gorgeous, really perfect. If not for the road noise which can be loud from 6 am until evening and lumpy pillows, I would have given Deborahs place 6 stars. Deborah was very responsive and great to deal with. We hope to return .

The place to be in Samara

We have spend 3 weeks in Samara to learn Spanish in the Intercultura language school. During this time we lived in this apartment and it was just fantastic. Deborah and her family are very friendly and it felt like to stay in a place, well furnished with love and a sence for the detail. It’s a very stylish apartment on two floors, two bathrooms, own Loundry, outside shower, BBQ grill and a very well equipped kitchen. The beautiful beach is in less than 5 min. within walking distance. We hope to be back one day!

The apartment was clean and perfect for the two of us. The kitchen was fully equipped to cook anything you needed. Two full baths with ample towels and linens. It was great to sit on the balcony in the morning with a cup of coffee and read! This is a small property with only one other apartment so the WONDERFUL pool area is very private. Owner was very helpful! Also less than a two minute walk to the beach. Excellent Wifi if needed for work. Oh and once you get to the beach it is a short walk to downtown for breakfast, lunch, dinner or drinks. etc.

Excellent Value

This property is a duplex above the office of Wingnuts canopy tours. We stayed in #2. The apartment was lovely and as described. The pool was in its own spot across the driveway. We had it all to ourselves as the other apartment was unoccupied. Other visitors have commented about the noise of the busy road and they are correct, however nothing that ear plugs could not handle. The apartment is equipped with most everything except a hair dryer (which I found to be liberating) and good beach chairs which would have made our trips to other beaches in the area much more enjoyable, but definitely not a deal breaker. This property is about a 15 min walk to town on a very beautiful beach or a $4 taxi ride. If you have a car even better. All in all this is a lovely property at a good price.

A Great Getaway

My wife Sue and I recently spent two glorious weeks (April 10 - April 24, 2017) at Deborah's apartment on the outskirts of Samara on the Pacific coast of Guanacaste in northwestern Costa Rica. I highly recommend the amenities and location of this accommodation. Deborah was a wonderful and helpful host. Samara (about a fifteen-twenty minute walk from the apartment along a gorgeous, unspoilt beach) is a great, little beach town with a host of places to eat and relax. We will likely return again next year in January or February. My spouse found the temperatures a little warm for her liking in April (low nineties). Skip (Southern Ontario, Canada)

Loved It!

We had a great stay at Madrelindo! Deborah was very available and even provided an adorable crib for our baby to stay in. The home is very spacious and very clean. It is also very modern. The street in front is busy and can be noisy at times, but it didn't bother us at all. The beach is just a short walk away. Town is a bit further up a windy road, to get there from the beach is fairly simple, but in the evenings, we would recommend a car! One morning we had howler monkeys in the tree right in front of the property, it was amazing! The barbecue and everything in the kitchen worked perfectly. I would definitely recommend this apartment in Samara, we hope to stay there again some day!

Lovely place to stay

There was a lot we loved about staying at this apartment. It's clean and beautiful. In addition to the loft bedroom, the sofa downstairs can be turned into a bed which was great for my husband who likes to take a nap in the afternoon. There are also two full bathrooms, upstairs and downstairs, which we appreciated. The apartment is a five minute walk from the beautiful Samara beach and it's a 10-15 minutes walk along the beach to get into town. A perfect distance for us to get some daily exercise. The pool is beautifully landscaped and a real plus. It's hot in Samara and it was a great way to cool off. The biggest downside was that the apartment is on the main road going to Samara and it can be really noisy at night. If you want complete quiet, staying away from the main roads is probably a good idea.

Very Nice Setup

My wife and I had the privilege to stay here for 6 nights this past June. We had a great time while we were there and we felt right at home during our visit. The place was very clean, well equipped, and conveniently located. The condo sits above the main road that connects the Samara area to Playa Carrillo on one side and Nicoya to the other. There is a bus stop right outside the condo that makes it easy to access these areas if you don't have a car. The Samara beach area was only a five minute walk and the town itself was about a 10 minute walk along the beach. The apartment is newer as it has a jetted tub in one of the bathrooms, a washer and dryer, and a sunning room with an outdoor shower to wash off the sand before you entered the apartment. This comfy and spacious condo has a lot to offer a couple who is looking for an alternative of staying in a hotel in this area.

Unbelievable

I was here by myself for the month of April. It was so beautiful and spacious, everything the pictures showed. I always felt very safe and very much at home here. The pool was like a little oasis, it was just so nice to have. The walk to the beach was 5 minutes and the little town to Samara was only a 15 min walk. I chose not to rent a car and never regretted that decision. I did lots of excursions but mostly spent my days at the pool, the beach, doing yoga and going to the little town. I made most of my meals here but I ate out at beachfront restaurants as well. I was sad to leave this beautiful place, Deborah and Peter were absolutely wonderful and very helpful. I will be back!!! My husband and I moved to Costa Rica from British Columbia, Canada in 1982. We fell in love with this area of Guanacaste, bought our farm and settled here. In the following years we raised our family of four children and developed a canopy (zipline) tour on our farm. Widowed in 2006, my children and I are dedicated to conserving the dry tropical forest on our lands, sharing the local wonders with tourists from around the world, and as of 2011, offering convenient and comfortable accomodation for travellers.

Why they chose this property

In 1982 Samara was fairly isolated but with pristine local beaches... Carrillo, Samara, Camaronal, Buena Vista. Lush and filled with wildlife, there was also enough community here to offer an interesting local school option for our very young children.
Nowadays Samara has all the conveniences of good roads, modern telecommunications, shopping options and a core community of Costa Ricans whose way of life still embodies 'pura vida', i.e. connectedness to the surrounding natural beauty and a 'laid-back' lifestyle. Samara Beach is world-renowned for its safety as a swimming beach. Our community offers a popular local language school, massage school, yoga classes, surf schools, a spa, as well as all ocean-related activities including seasonal whale and dolphin-watching.
