We were visiting the Rockport Fulton area to see Whooping Cranes in their winter homes and were totally amazed to find quite a few in the pond across the street from the house, They also flew over the house in the mornings and evenings. The house was beautiful, current and with everything we needed.Bonus, the Milky Way viewing at night.
We had the absolute best time here! If you're into nature - we saw a great variety of shorebirds including the Whooping Cranes literally across the road. The BNB was super clean and well stocked. We especially enjoyed all of the outside amenities including an evening with a relaxing fire in the firepit (so many stars!), and cooking on the blackstone under the tiki hut. We will absolutely be back!
The cottage was fresh and lovely, and had everything we needed to feel at home. The location was quiet, with a view of the bay from the porch and cranes just across the road!
Very relaxing, peaceful stay for two nights. Good view of the bay, sunrise, and plenty of wildlife and cows outside. Appreciate that the tiny house had two coffee makers, a Keurig and a drip coffeepot. The hosts provided many thoughtful extras and amenities.
I went to Rockport specifically to see the the whooping cranes. The cranes feed most of the day 50yds from this beautiful home. Paula has many little extras waiting for you on your arrival!
My son, grandson, and myself found the check-in easy and friendly. We arrived on a Friday afternoon, unpacked and began our weekend. The view from the front porch is wonderful, water and friendly fields We saw cattle, many birds, and then drove around exploring. Watched the sunrise each morning and saw a few deer before the cattle arrived. Sunday morning we saw dolphins as we drove along the road by the water. Amazing!
We spent hours on Saturday Aransas National Wildlife Refuge. From the observation towers (me the 20' and son and grandson the 40' we saw exotic birds and just the beauty of sunlight on the water. My son told us he'd been there many times, and he'd seen an alligator once. (he quickly retreated).
Sunday we headed for Goose Island State Park. More beauty, and we spotted dolphins and long-legged birds again.
This location is the very best place to stay if you want calm and beauty, along with interest.
The pictures didn’t do it justice, it was way cuter in person. Everything was clean, there was a washer and dryer/oven/microwave that double as a toaster oven. The view was amazing with the pasture across from us with the ponds, cows and whooping cranes. And the water is literally 2 seconds away if you want to dip a line. Not to mention the historical “big tree” on the other side of the pasture. We enjoyed the weekend. Will be returning for sure.
We came to see Whooping cranes and were not disappointed. They really do fly all around the cottage, and they were literally the only "noise" to be heard! So peaceful you would never know that Spring Break was in full swing just a few miles away.
Beautiful sunrises right out the front door, tons of fireflies in the field out front at night. Lovely bed and linens, full-size appliances, nice porch and tall Adirondack chairs that were easy to get out of.
Great communication with the host through the VRBO messaging service when I had a couple of questions. Helpful tips about the house (and info on things to do and see) are all in the binder, so be sure to check it out when you arrive! We loved this place and would stay here any time of year. ❤
I don't want to write a good review because I don't want this place to be discovered!! Cleanliness and safety are what's most important to me when I travel, and Goose Island Flats definitely met and exceeded my expectations for both. The owner thought of everything you might need out of a studio flat on the water. There's a small dishwasher and a washer/dryer, so you can wash your towels and beach things. They also give you pretty much all the supplies you could want in a vacation rental, including a bottle of champagne upon arrival. My dogs loved to watch the deer out back and we had a great time walking down to the beach and watching the sunrise on the bay both mornings. You can also walk to the big tree and Goose Island state park from here. I'm already trying to figure out how to get back during whooping crane festival. You have a perfect view of the cranes from the front porch. I felt a little superior to everyone standing on the roadside to watch the birds because I was able to sit in my robe with a cup of coffee, and still see/hear them. The sunset behind the cottages is also beautiful and you can hear birds all night. I was a devoted Port A vacationer for a decade, but now I plan to stay here whenever I can swing it! Thank you, Paula & co.!
We loved our stay here! The location was perfect- quiet and peaceful, but close enough to beach. Being able to watch the sunrise over the bay from the porch, and the herd of deer behind the house at dusk was an unexpected bonus. The house itself was cozy, clean and didn't feel cramped at all.
The property seems new and/or very well updated. The setting is perfect. We could see the bay from the porch and enjoyed sitting out early in the morning as the birds were waking up. The whooping cranes and the pink spoonbills are just across the road and are a joy to watch. The property is the perfect size for a single person or married couple. The property owner was easy to communicate with. We will stay longer on the next visit!
Well designed living area with all you could need for a good visit. The location is ideal. You can see the bay across a grassy field from the unit. Lots of nature to observe: Deer at night and morning. Whooping cranes that fly over the roof and land across the street. Sand hill cranes calling. We plan to come again.
The tiny house was clean and the area is really nice. Perfect for a pet too!
Property owner was in communication with us whenever we needed her!
I would stay here again!
It was nice and peaceful with views of the bay. Loved the front porch and high chairs. If you're tech savvy you may have better luck with the Wifi TV. Streaming was off and on. Cable would be nice. Stickers on the property were bad but it was nicely mowed.
