We stayed a week and it was wonderful. We had great weather and rode our motorcycle every day. The house was exactly what was described and better. Everything that we needed was there, and more. The owner was over to welcome us and let us know where to find him if we needed anything. We just thoroughly enjoyed the quiet the home gave us. Thank you so much Pat and Ellen.
We had a wonderful stay at the Paddy Shack. The house was clean and spacious with everything we needed. The shared beach and swimming area were a ton of fun for us, our dog, and our friends. We had the chance to meet Pat and Ellen and they were fantastic hosts. We hope to return next summer!
The house was well stocked and location was great. The only thing I wished I had known ahead of time is that one of the bedrooms was a loft and not an actulal room.
Pat and Ellen,
Paddy Shack is beautiful it had everything and more than we needed. The boat ride around the lake with you both was amazing. The Lake water is so clean and clear we had such a good time playing in the sand and floating on the raft you provided. Great family memories were made and we cant wait to come back next year.
The house itself was great with everything we needed for an enjoyable stay for our family of four with two boys (9 & 6) and grandparents visiting each day. The beach area was also great with multiple docks and water equipment (kayaks, paddleboard, water mat, etc.) available. Had lots of fun fishing in the lake - caught over 60 fish during the week, mostly small but at least two >8”. The one thing to be aware of is the steep hill between the beach and the house; this was fine for our family but was a bit more challenging for some of our visiting grandparents. The owners were very kind and made us feel welcome while also giving us our space. Thank you so much Pat and Ellen for hosting us!
Ellen and Pat have a little slice of Heaven and were gracious hosts. The home had everything you could possibly want or neeed for a relaxing stay. The little extras like the dog toys, bed and bowls as well as all of the water sports equipment for our use was appreciated. Pat even took our girls tubing and gave all the adults a relaxing ride on his brand new pontoon boat with a tour of the lake! They are a couple who we would call friends as they are both so pleasant.
We rented this property because it was near our son and daughter. We wanted the family to help celebrate my husband’s 80th birthday. (We live in Florida.) We also had family from Michigan and Miami stay a few nights. The house was roomy and perfect for a large group. It was well stocked with all the essentials. The only concern we had was that the largest bed was on the second floor and we didn’t want to try to navigate the stairs at night so we used the main floor bedroom which was small. Also, there was only one bathroom. The beach was down a steep hill, but the lake was beautiful and the water was warm. Enjoyed our week and family.
Ellen and Pat’s place is VERY well stocked! They’ve thought of everything! The location is a quiet dirt road. Loved the front porch! Wish it was facing the lake, but still very relaxing. It was a busy weekend at the lake. Pat and Ellen’s family were at the beach, so we found other ways to entertain ourselves. We found an awesome pontoon and jet skis rental available that brought the boat right across the lake (near the brewery). D&N Good Time Rentals LLC. Pat and Ellen offered a boat ride as well.
There are 3 sleeping areas. One is a half wall - something to be aware of depending who is going on the trip with you. There are some quirks to the house. Lots of dogs around the property, so would only advice bringing yours if they are good with others. Overall, it was a quick getaway, close to home, on a very cute lake and did the trick for our family.
We had a great time staying at the Paddy Shack for our family vacation. The house itself was very nice with an open concept that was perfect for spending time with the family. The beach area was great especially for our 3 year old daughter. It is hard to find both a family and pet friendly place to stay and this checked off all our boxes. Our hosts were so helpful and went above and beyond to make our stay memorable!
Pat & Ellen are gracious hosts! The house was spotless and attention was given to small things travelers might need, like sunblock and forgotten toothbrushes. The furniture is comfy and we loved how they had everything from paper plates to weighty cutlery and wine and martini glasses. There are even s'mores sticks to roast your marshmallows by the fire pit. They made it clear not to hesitate to ask if there was anything else we might need. It's a short walk down a fairly steep hill to get to the lake. We pretty much had the small sandy beech to ourselves our entire week there. There were plenty of chairs and tables and lots of flotation devices, including a chaise lounge (my favorite!) and a water pad. My husband & I enjoyed the kayaks, and our daughter enjoyed showing us all up on the paddle board. If you are looking for a nice private retreat to get away with your family (only 5-6 other houses grouped on the road) this is a great spot! Within a 10 minute ride is a really nice brewpub/full restaurant/outdoor creamery with an excellent breakfast/lunch diner across the street. Hannaford's market only 15 minutes away. Lots of great day trips within 30 minutes (like Wolfeboro & Weird beach) to an hour (like Portsmouth and York Maine beaches).
This rental checks the important boxes - clean, warm, comfortable, and well-stocked. Plus you couldn't ask for better hosts! We were there for a storm that took out power in wee hours of the morning to 600,000 residents, including ours. Pat was at our door at 8am to start the generator and make sure we had everything we needed.
As a courtesy caution to anyone who brings their dog, please know that the neighbor has a not-so-friendly German Sheppard who is let out to go potty off leash. To avoid conflict, we simply took our dog out after theirs was back inside. This shouldn't deter anyone from staying here - just be aware if the dog happens to be out.
We would definitely stay again and can imagine it would be great fun in the summer with access to the lake! We were here for the entire month of October, and the trees were absolutely beautiful.
The Paddy Shack was a quiet and relaxing place to stay. The kids enjoyed being outdoors. They were able to find all kinds of cool things in nature. They enjoyed fishing at the dock, kayaking and looking for frogs. Pat and Ellen were friendly and accommodating. We drove our boat up and were able to dock it for the week. The cul-de-sac was so far in that it was quiet and calm. Pat and Ellen have gone above and beyond in providing the essentials for your stay inside and outside. Awesome!
We have two young children and a dog and there was more than enough to do right on sight that we barely left. The place was immaculate, beds were comfortable, and very private. We would absolutely go back!
The location of the house was perfect for our quiet getaway. The house was clean and cozy and nicely decorated. It was stocked with firewood for a fire, plenty of dishes, linens, and towels. We loved floating in the lake on the hotter days and exploring the area for delicious restaurants.
We enjoyed our stay at the Paddy Shack! The property is very clean and neat. It's a fabulous get away and nestled in the woods with the lake view right in front of the house! Home is well equipped and we had everything we needed to be comfortable!
Great home and excellent owners! Thank you!!
Our family stayed at this home while we were settling in NH. The owner and his wife...and neighbors. Well, let me say this...I wish I would have bought their home so they could still be my neighbors, 3 weeks was not long enough. Pat...thank you so much. We miss you guys.
We had a magical week at the lake! Our boys, ages 4.5 and almost 2 loved the little beach and the shallow water which allowed them to be independent and safe while swimming. The house had everything we needed and the owners were extremely friendly and helpful. We spent our days playing with trucks in the sand, jumping off the dock into the water, swimming and playing in the water and taking the kayaks out on the beautiful lake. We had the beach to ourselves 99% of the time which was awesome. It’s a short walk down a little road, almost like a long driveway. It’s so close my husband would walk half the way up and I’d walk halfway down from the house to swap while our little one was napping Inside so we each could be with our older son in the water a bit. Basically it was so short we could still see the house and the water half way down. It’s a bit steep though. The house had a fully stocked kitchen, plenty of towels and supplies. My bed was a little hard for me but that was my only issue all week. My boys were SO sad to leave. It was completely fantastic!
