About this property

Farm Animals! Private Hiking! Game Shack! Pizza Oven! and New River Close By

The Little Peak Creek Farm House is located on 85 acres and i some of the most beautiful mountain land in the high county. There is a second listing on this site for a TREE HOUSE to rent as well . The number of that listing is #1317532.

Each rental is a 2 night minimum. The farmhouse is intended for 4 but requires an extra person fee of $20.00 for use of the roll away bed . The third bedroom is not located in the farm house , it is a tiny but creative 9x9 tiny house located in what was a smokehouse and requires and if added on requires extra fee of $40.00per night . We allow 2 dogs ,each under 50 pounds , are welcome for the fee of $25.00 per night per dog. We ask that you keep the furniture covered with sheets or a blanket , if your dog is a couch potato.

In the winter, check weather to see if it calls for snow . You may need to bring front wheel or 4 wheel drive . Low profile vehicles may rub the water break bumps we need for erosion purposes.
The farm has open pasture land, with VERY friendly farm animals for the whole family to enjoy. We have horses, mini horses, goats, donkeys, and chickens.
There are large hardwood forests and pine forests with trails winding all through the property. A three mile trail around the outer edges of the property will soon be completed. The trail to one overlook offers a deck and chairs, and a view of every major mountain in the county, including the mountains in Virginia . Another overlook has a wildflower field and the most recent overlook has a firepit. You can hike to the top for the sunset or stay for the best star gazing anywhere!
You may gather your own eggs and herbs, when in season from the cabin doorstep.

In the evening the property is great for stargazing as there is no light pollution . Enjoy the cabin's front yard or lull away the afternoon in the hammock. If you are a hiker we have added an observation shack at the top of the Summit Trail where you can build a fire and watch the sun go down and then have great stargazing over the entire sky. We have provided binoculars, blankets and lounge chairs for your use when you climb to the top of Summit Trail. You could also visit early morning for wonderful photo opportunity of various wildlife!

There is a large Bocce Ball court and a Game Shack in the front yard for day and night time entertainment. There are a lot of great outdoor games for children and adults. Enjoy reading and relaxing on the front or back porch, or on a rainy day find a movie to watch. The cabin has Direct tv and Netflix, , it has wi-fi. for checking your email. Young kids can enjoy the sand box which is on the lower level of the smokehouse and is enclosed, while you can watch from rocking chairs on the porch. We offer a portable movie projector for an evening movie outdoors by the creek!

If you love animals we have chickens, goats, donkeys, dogs and horses. Feel free to visit them as you wander the property on our hiking trails . They love small bites of carrot, apples and a favorite is animal crackers!

The owners live in a separate lodge on the property , but are a good distance from the cabin offering all the privacy you want. Their home is adjacent to a pond . They prefer to consider the pond area at their home their private space, but they are happy for you to stop to snap a picture or two. As you pass their home on the trail to the overlook you will see hillsides planted with wildflowers in the spring, summer and fall.
The FARMHOUES cabin is charming and allows you to return to a simpler time. It is decorated beautifully and provides a homey atmosphere. You will want to adopt it as your own second home after your first visit. In the summer The Willingham's have a personal garden, where they grow their food for winter, and is a place to visit and learn about the plants grown there or you can produce some beautiful photographs to document your trip. If there are extra veggies we will offer what we produce an abundance of.

The smokehouse studio is a private space to sleep 2 and does require an additional fee of $40.00. It does not have it's own bathroom so you will need to walk a short distance to the farmhouse for use of the bathroom . From the smoke house you will hear and see the creek and waterfall from your bed!

The stunning barn rebuilt in 2013, after a tragic fire, is a studio and gallery downstairs and has products for sale produced by the Willingham's. It is also a venue for weddings and family reunions or parties. It has rental rated based on the number of guests. A bathroom was added in 2021.

The Farm, is well located for everything you would want to do. It is only 15 minutes from the historic town of West Jefferson. The town has a wide variety of interesting shops, great choices for dining, galleries, and a wonderful farmers market. To see what is happening in Ashe County go to ,Ashe county Chamber of Commerce for an updated list of fun things to do while you visit. There are dozens of links to give you information.

West Jefferson has backstreet concerts in summer, as well as many other events all year round. There are plays and performances at the Civic Center. From the FARMHOUSE you can be on the New River in only 2 minutes for tubing, fishing, kayaking or canoeing , The Blue Ridge Parkway is only five minutes away. The New River State Park is only 10 minutes away , with an indoor theater and walk through exhibit where you can learn about the history of the county. The farm adjoins Wagoner State Park where you can hike and enjoy the river. Across the street from the driveway to the FARMHOUSE is a gem mine where children and adults can pan for interesting gems and treasures from the old Ore Knob Mine from April through October . In 2014 one lucky individual found a sapphire valued at $16,000. The owner there can set your stones if you wish to create an unusual piece of jewelry to remember your trip!

In the winter the ski slopes are about 1 and a half hours away, but there is sledding on the farm when we have a good snow and there are hills for a good sled run!

Lovely stay

My husband and I enjoyed our stay thoroughly at the farmhouse. The beds were comfortable and we had everything we needed in the bathroom and kitchen. I particularly loved taking walks and petting all the animals, although I was never brave enough to get any eggs;) The atmosphere on the deck and porch were lovely with the sound of the creek.

Perfectly peaceful

This is everything you could want from a farm stay. Friendly, healthy animals and a property that has obviously been thoughtfully cultivated over the years. Our kids LOVED it. Lisa is a great host and the house has everything you could think of. Quiet and peaceful yet convenient to West Jefferson, and the New River and many other parks. We will definitely be back!!.

Beautiful farm

Lisa went above and beyond to make our stay special. From feeding the farm animals to taking hikes with beautiful views to using the pizza oven by the fire, we had so many memorable moments. We used all 3 properties on the farm with the treehouse being the favorite for our girls.

Cozy, peaceful farmhouse with breathtaking property views

Beautiful property with animals, hiking, and breathtaking views. We enjoyed the cozy farmhouse for the weekend and were so impressed by the property. Our adult kids even enjoyed the animals and the acres of hiking trails to beautiful summits and sweeping outlooks kept us all busy exploring. I can’t say enough about the hospitality of the farm. All the little special touches made for a wonderful family getaway!

Beautiful Place For Relaxation

This was such an adorable place with the sound of nature and a babbling brook to put your mind at ease. We enjoyed our stay and were very appreciative of how clean, comfortable, and peaceful this gem was to us! I love flowers and herbs so I was smiling from the moment we arrived at the gorgeous landscaping! We had everything we could possibly need right there. Thank you so much for sharing this beautiful spot with us!

Beautiful & Relaxing Cabin Getaway

My family and I stayed four nights, and it was exactly what we needed to disconnect from the stress of our day-to-day. Very beautiful property and we felt right at home. Lisa was attentive and would stop by to make sure we were taken care of. Would definitely stay at little peak creek farm again, it was a wonderful experience and exceeded our expectations. Thank you so much for having us, Lisa!

Quiet Family Weekend

This was our second visit to Lisa and Steven’s wonderful mountain farm. Our girls (2, 4 and 8) had the best time hiking to the lookout, seeing and feeding the chickens and goats and playing with the new outdoor games. West Jefferson is nearby for dinner, live music, donuts and farmers market. A relaxing and fun stay for the whole family. Thanks Lisa for an awesome visit. We’ll be back!

Wonderful stay and wedding venue

A fantastic place for a wedding, as well as great lodging. My husband and I, as well as another couple, stayed 3 nights at the farm house, for our son’s wedding, which was held at the barn. The accommodations were perfect, and the barn and gallery were a gorgeous location for the wedding. Lisa, and her husband, Stephen, were great hosts, and worked extremely hard to make everything amazing. Everyone attending seemed to be impressed with the property. It truly was an excellent place for a wedding, or a vacation getaway.

Just perfect

We stayed in the Farm House in June and even though we knew it was just what we were looking for, arriving there right at twilight with the twinkling garden lights outside, soft lamp lighting and calming music was so peaceful. Hearing the creek running beside the house and all the wildlife, really helped us relax and enjoy. Lisa and Mark were great to deal with and made our trip super special with the little touches. We will definitely be back!

Perfect family time!

My family of 4 (2 adults, 5 yr old boy, & baby boy), along with my mother in law, grandmother in law, and husband's cousin stayed three nights while in the area for a family wedding and thoroughly enjoyed the property. Inside was comfortable and cozy; It really felt like being welcomed into someone's rather than a standard rental. The outside areas created the perfect evening ambiance - we were lucky to have a warm fall weekend and enjoyed listening to the wildlife, stargazing and roasting marshmallows by the fire pit. We also enjoyed walking around the property and visiting the animals. Overall, it was a great time spent with family we don't see often!

Idyllic Thanksgiving Getaway

This was our second Thanksgiving stay on the property and this time we tried the cabin. We loved the space so much. The personal touches, art, and little details make it feel like home. We have family in the area and it’s been very convenient for us to be able to come here before and after our gathering and not have to travel home right away. Our family pups had an absolute blast tagging along, checking out the horses and Gypsy Chicks, playing with the Willingham’s pups, swimming in the little creeks nearby, and going for hikes around the property. Lisa did so much to make our stay a great one and we can’t wait to return in the future.

Lovely cabin on a peaceful farm!

This cabin was awesome! From the sounds of the small creek right in your backyard, to being able to interact and feed the animals each morning and evening, to getting fresh eggs each afternoon to cook for breakfast each morning, it was truly a delightful experience. I could ramble on for days about how great this place is, but the fact that we booked for two nights, but ended up staying 3 probably says it all! So thankful no one had already booked that ex night. It was definitely a win for us. Go ahead and book, you definitely won't regret it!

Wonderful, relaxing paradise

We had a fabulous time on our family vacation at the farm. All of us loved hanging out with the animals. We enjoyed our regular evening visits from Molly & Hank. The kids especially loved feeding and petting the chickens, goats, horses and dogs. A chick hatched one day and my granddaughter was over the moon about it! The cottage was very charming and cozy. I really can’t tell you how much fun we all had - I could go on and on! We will definitely be back. Thanks Lisa and Steve!

Beautiful property, magical stay.

This is a one-of-a-kind authentic farm experience. The property is breathtaking, filled with beautiful and friendly animals, barns, meadows, and trails that lead through pine forests and up to overlooks with mountain views for miles. The owners are friendly and take great care and pride in their property and their animals, and it shows in every nook and cranny. Such a great opportunity for our family to connect with each other and with nature in a way that’s not easy to find these days. My kids and all of us loved visiting the chickens, hunting for fresh eggs, feeding the horses, goats, and donkeys, and playing with the three beautiful Labradors that came to visit us at the farmhouse every day. I couldn’t recommend it more.

we kept pinching ourselves... is this place for reals? It's AMAZING.

This is our second visit to Little Peak Creek Farm and we are even more in love with the place, which I didn't think was possible. Our young kiddos were giddy with joy.... collecting eggs, feeding the horses, playing in the sandbox, climbing up the mountain creek, riding bikes, looking for frogs at the fish ponds, playing bocce ball, having a picnic at the overlook. Despite the numerous local attractions, we hardly left the farm. There's so much to do there and it's just so beautiful. The cabin has everything you need and it's clean and comfortable. Lisa and Steven go out of their way to be friendly and welcoming. They are just lovely people and they have poured their hearts and souls into this place. Our kids were so sad to leave and begging for us to make plans to return. We certainly will. It's just as wonderful for the adults as the kids.
