I have been staying in the Bahamas on various islands for 20 years. I have always enjoyed attentive and responsive owners like Shawn. His communication prior to arrival was great, he was at the house when we arrived, he checked in by phone mid-stay, and he saw us off when we were left. We were two older couples, and there was plenty of room and privacy for everyone.
We rented a car and explored. At the end of our touristy days, this quiet home was the ideal place to rest. You can have a late afternoon dinner with the doors open to the ocean, or have a stiff cocktail on the master balcony. You can drive the north coast road to busy and congested Nassau, or you can head up Prince Charles (literally just around the corner) and quickly cut through the middle of the island to get to Stuart’s Cove for the mini-subs or the airport when you leave.
I read a March 2014 review that completely contrasted with other March reviews, so bear that in mind. Some people are whiney complainers about everything. Who snoops in private garages on vacation? Why chooses a three story home with 2nd and 3rd floor bedrooms for a 70 year old? What parent has a child sleeping in her room, unless it’s a husband avoidance strategy (he probably paid for the trip and didn’t get what he expected either).
During our stay in late April the A/C worked fine, but we opened the windows and let in the fresh ocean air. The night lighting comes on to provide safety at the road and gates, as well as for late night strollers along the water’s edge. This is a neighborhood where people live and work, not an all-inclusive luxury beach resort.
And if you get up with the gorgeous morning sun as it rises over the ocean horizon, you can see the local walkers, runners, and bicyclists starting their day. The beds were fine, and for water wasters who want a hundred pounds of blasting water pressure during a 40 minute shower, get over it. I had no problem shampooing and rinsing in the master bedroom, or filling up pots for cooking in the kitchen, or running the dishwasher, or running the washing machine.
Every rental home could use a sharpening stone, but I usually pack one for vacation because you never know, just like packing a wine bottle opener. If we had any sort of a problem, I am POSITIVE Shawn would have resolved it promptly. An experienced traveler and vacationer understands these things.
I would rent here again. Thank you, Shawn, for your hospitality.
