About this property

Cabin #5 - Riverfront w/ Hot-Tub & Gas Fireplace!

Cabin #5 is perfect for families or friends who want all the amenities of the other cabins, plus the luxury of a hot tub, all overlooking the river! Sit out on the deck and watch the fish and elk walk by! This unit has 3 beds and can sleep up to 6 comfortably. New gas log fireplace and HVAC system along with wifi and YoutubeTV to keep you and your party entertained.

Bluebird Cabins are located in Cherokee, NC directly across the river from the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, the most visited National Park in America! Come spend time with the Cherokee people and enjoy some quality time in one of the oldest occupied places on Earth. Western North Carolina offers beautiful scenery with its majestic mountains, crystal clear streams and rivers, waterfalls, hiking trails, ecotourism and more. Don't miss the wildlife of the area, including deer, bear, elk (often found within a half mile of our cabins) and more!

Each of our log cabins has a full front porch and deck with seating just a few feet away from the Oconaluftee River, which offers some of the best trout fishing around. This river is stocked with brown and rainbow trout. Fly fishermen can enjoy the “catch and release” waters with trophy sized fish just minutes away. The cabins line the Oconaluftee River with a view across the river that is forest land with no development. The cabins are separated by full deck areas with privacy fencing in between. A small charcoal grill is located in front of the cabin. You can see the fish below in these clear waters! This river also provides a great place for rafting, tubing, and swimming.

***This cabin features a large deck with a 6-person hot-tub for relaxing and enjoying the view of the slow moving river!***

This cabin has an open living/kitchen/dining space downstairs along with a primary king bedroom and ensuite bathroom with a tub/shower. Upstairs, there are 2 separate bedrooms; an open queen bedroom and a full bedroom with a door. These rooms feature ceiling fans and utilize a shared bathroom with a shower between them.

We have 6 total hand-built log cabins that are each stocked with kitchen supplies, new couches and bedding, and basic shower/restroom goods. High-speed internet and streaming televisions in the living room as well as main bedroom make sure you don't miss a beat. New HVAC systems and gas fireplace create comfort for all, with automatic settings so you don't have to worry about how to set up. The back of the cabins are just off of Big Cove Road, which has low to moderate traffic and sidewalks into town, food and shopping. We believe you'll find the setting peaceful and enjoyable.

Easy to find and perfect location! Bluebird Cabins are 0.2 miles from the entrance to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park and about 0.8 miles from the entrance of the Blue Ridge Parkway. We are in a short walking distance to shopping, restaurants, a brewery and more! We're 1.5 miles from the Outdoor Drama, Cherokee Museum and the Oconaluftee Indian Village, only 3 miles from Harrah's Cherokee Casino and only 5 miles from the world class Sequoyah National Golf Course. Approximately 15 minute drive to the Great Smoky Mountains Railroad and downtown Bryson City, where even more shopping, food, and adventure await.

Great place and view.

We loved the proximity to town but also had the river view and feeling of being no where near town!

Beautiful cabin

We really enjoyed this cute little cabin right on the river. It was peaceful, close to plenty of restaurants and shopping. The hot tub was an added bonus! The host Cheri was awesome, check in process was easy. Definitely will stay again!

Cute but cold

This cabin is cute- it’s on the smaller side (maybe 900 sqft) and the two upstairs bedrooms are more of a loft style with very slanted ceilings which were not great for the adults (esp the taller ones) of the family. I hit my head a few times in both the bathroom and bedroom just trying to stand up. And one of the bedrooms doesn’t have a door so keep that in mind. Our biggest issue with this cabin was is was advertised as having a new HVAC system so I assumed the entire cabin would be heated when in fact there is a wall unit in the living room and one upstairs bedroom, leaving the master bedroom to be absolutely freezing at night (at least in the winter). Unfortunately this resulted in one of our elderly guests getting sick at the end of the trip. Although there is the option to use a plug in space heater those are not recommended to leave on while sleeping due to fire hazards. The hot tub was clean and spacious and the cabin does have a convenient location to town. It would probably be perfect for a family with several children that want to travel in spring or summer but in the dead of winter it was just too cold for some of us.

Bluebird Cabins is owned and operated by Chris & Cheri McCoy. As a member of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians, Chris was born and raised in these mountains on the Cherokee Indian Reservation. Chris grew up swimming and fishing in these rivers and hiking these trails. We have a passion for sharing the local culture, nature and relaxing atmosphere!

We purchased these cabins (formerly known as Ol' Smoky Log Cabins) from the original owners with a goal of bringing modern comfort and amenities while keeping some of the rustic charm. No improvements were needed on the location and views!

Why they chose this property

This property has the best of all worlds! Relaxing views of the flowing river with daily wildlife sightings, while being walking distance to hiking trails, biking trails, disc golf, restaurants, a brewery, shopping and more! You get the feel of seclusion with a convenient proximity to modern amenities. Just a short drive to nearby Sequoyah National Golf Course, historic downtown Bryson City, the Great Smoky Mountains Railroad, or even hop over the mountain to spend a day in Gatlinburg, Tennessee.
