Magical Cabin in the Mountains!

We had a wonderful stay at this Provo River canyon cabin. It was beautifully designed / styled and everything was so thoughtful organized and provided for. Plenty of space for sleeping and gathering. We plan to make it an annual trip. The owner was very responsive.

Great spot up south fork canyon

LOVE Provo canyon and this is the best of it! Yummy snacks stock upon arrival. Perfect spot for our team training. Weird weather conditions made the driveway dicey due to ice but nothing to be done about that. Well stocked with plates, all cooking hardware and everything you'd expect to stay for a night or a month. Will return!

Perfect Family Cabin

I’d almost like to keep this place a secret… But that would be a jerk move on my part, as you can see as soon as you step in that this is a great place. It’s actually the kind of place you wish you owned. I can’t say enough good things about this cabin. It is absolutely gorgeous, clean, comfortable, open and well stocked. I can see us coming back year after year. I came with my family, my brother and his family and my parents. With 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms, we all had plenty of space. Book this place. You will love it. There is a very large living space with ample seating. We loved this room; With a gas fire and massive windows, it was perfect. We spent an afternoon scattered across the biggest window seat I’ve ever seen. ☺ The upstairs loft space was the perfect kid hangout. There’s a game table, foosball game and big TV/giant sectional for bigger kids and a cute kitchen set/play area for the younger set. Most of the bedrooms are on the bottom floor, so the baby could go down for a nap in a quiet space, while adults gathered on the main floor and kids had the loft space to be kids in. The dining area was more than big enough. I was pleasantly surprised to find a high chair for the baby to use. We gathered here to eat but it was also the perfect place for family games. The kitchen has SO Much Storage. The wrap around counter was a great feature to set out snacks & drinks for our crew, keeping things out of the way, but still ready for all the kiddos. Th

We loved this clean, beautiful, comfortable mountain cabin!

We were a family group of 14: 9 adults and 4 small children. We arrived on a cold Christmas night. As we entered, we were struck by how light and beautifully and thoughtfully laid out the cabin was. The floors and walls were all newly finished in light pine. The kitchen was new and open and stocked with all the dishes and kitchen accoutrements you could ever want. The cabin was big enough to sleep all of us comfortably. Each bedroom had crisp clean linens and new comfortable beds. The family gathered in the great room with big picture frame windows. The room was so inviting, warmed by central heat and also a cozy gas stove. Up in the spacious loft, we watched movies while the kids played in the wonderful children's corner stocked with a children's kitchen, blocks, and lots of toys. It was the perfect place for us to gather our family in the beauty of the mountains and the comfort of the Scandinavian styled refurbished cabin.

About the host

Host profile image
We are a group of friends and family who deeply love nature, light, and building relationships. Several years ago we bought this beloved family cabin to preserve its legacy, and each year we try to make it even better for generations to come. Sharing this special place with family & friends brings us great joy, and we hope you will come to love it as we do!

Why they chose this property

When we arrive at the cabin, we feel tucked away in a different world in the mountains, yet we are only 10 minutes to Sundance, 15 minutes to Costco and I-15 in Orem, and 20 minutes to Provo. The cabin sits about halfway between two gorgeous parks, South Fork park and Big Springs park with access to many beautiful hikes in the national forest land beyond. Our cabin is nestled with a small group of homes at the base of a mountain, covered in aspen, birch and spruce trees. Small springs trickle out of the mountainside throughout our little community, watering a large grassy field with breathtaking views of Mt. Timponogos' east face. South Fork river is about 100 yards away, which flows down to Provo Canyon below and on to Utah lake. Our neighborhood has become a haven for wildlife, you will often see turkeys and peacocks roaming the grounds. We provide binoculars to view the mountainsides where you can sometimes see deer, moose, elk, big horn sheep, mountain goats, a huge variety of birds, and (rarely) a bobcat or coyote. If you get lucky, you might even see our local flying squirrel swoop over the backyard string lights at night. There is lots of open space to roam and explore when you come stay at the cabin.

What makes this property unique

South Fork Cabin is a newly renovated gathering place nestled in the trees of South Fork Canyon. Inside, we have multiple large spaces for big or small groups to hang out comfortably. The new kitchen and dining area is fully stocked for large meals with seating for 16. A coffee station, crock pot, waffle irons, electric griddle, Vitamix blender, popcorn maker help make things easier. The upstairs loft has a large selection of games and puzzles, a foosball table, and a cozy sectional and separate sleeper sofa area. The loft children's play area has a toy kitchen, trains, blocks, books, and fun dress-ups. Fast Starlink Wifi internet keeps you connected (or better yet, put your phones in a drawer, you're on cabin time!). Both smart TVs support Airplay/Chromecast and streaming services. Because of the larger gathering spaces, each of the 5 bedrooms are cozy, but functional and comfortable. Each bedroom has a white noise machine, luggage rack, 100% cotton sheets, and both firm/soft pillow options. For children, we have a high chair, pack n' play w/ shade cover, and baby shampoo. Bathrooms have been newly updated and are stocked with toiletries, extra towels, and hair dryers. Out front we have a play house and playground w/ swings for children, a deck with a BBQ grill (propane provided), and seating for warm weather dining. Behind the cabin is the double deck, which overlooks the fire pit and hill, and string lights above add ambiance at night. On the back lower deck, you'll find yard games, a basket of hammocks to borrow, and a giant Connect 4 game. In summer, you can lay in the hammock in the shade as you listen to the trickling spring and breeze blow the windchimes. In fall, sit in the Adirondack chairs as the colored leaves float down covering the ground around you. In winter, sitting on the porch with a warm cup of tea as the snow softly muffles the world around you is pure magic.
