About this property

Creative Art of Living CLOSED FOR THE WINTER SEASON UNTIL SPRING OF 2025

We have off grid cozy space's that can be your meditation retreat or a family adventure high up by hiking trailheads and beautiful scenery all around. Using less is better and recycling materials to create a small village like atmosphere. We have a main straw bale round structure which is used for communal space. Laundry, shower and main communal meal is served.

Breakfast of fresh eggs and greens with homemade muffins and fruits are included in the stay. From 9am to 11am, any leftovers for late comers.
Each space has a simple kitchen which is used for your other meals and snacks. Refrigerator stove top, and in one building a microwave. Our Earthship is on solar, so we use its lights and other things sparingly. A woodstove is in each space.

In or around our outhouses are located conveniently. We utilize 'Humanure' practices for our ongoing gardening projects. Simply we all get to experience an outhouse situation and how it can work efficiently.
If you are seeking an experience away from home which may include a vast array of activities, workshops and spiritual centers, as well as the beauty of hiking high in the Sangre de Cristo mountains, hot springs and much more! You will also have an opportunity to spend time with us on our small family farm which consists of myself, a dog, three cats and 19 hens. Greenhouse made from tires, cans and glass bottles, and a couple of other structures for gathering and staying.

The Earth Ship which is also an Art Studio & Gallery, is full of local Artists and my own creations for your Souvenir or Gift. That space is a sanctuary with a space to sleep up to six people, with roll out comfy futons and pillows and two full sizes, medium to firm memory mattress. It is an Art Studio however being and Earthship it is spacious and cozy. We are working on an Atrium Passive Solar shower at that spot, but until it is completed you will be using the main house shower. We are also on a 'Gray Water' system so five-minute showers are required to use it. If you want a longer soak there are four Hot Springs within a half hour to hour radius.

We are doing our best here to keep the vibe low key and friendly, partying or creating disturbances for myself, other guests or anyone who is here at that time, it will not be tolerated. This is for people who would like to In-Joy time away in nature and go exploring. It is a very big step up from tent camping, however we do have a few very lovely tent spots to book as well if you rather that accommodation. Be prepared for cool nights even in the Summer months as we are about 9k high. Overlooking the San Luis Valley floor, so it can get chilly!

I also suggest to everyone who comes from lower altitudes to prepare your cells to expand, which means drink lots of green chlorophyl or Nettles a few weeks before arriving here to acclimate your blood to oxygenate you well.

With Many Blessings to you and yours,
Zuki

The Best Vacation I've Had In Years

I came to visit hoping to stay in a nice quiet area with a view of the mountains. I was instead treated to a gorgeous and carefully cared for property with beautiful flowers and a gorgeous view. The area was extremely clean, check in took less than 5 minutes, the property owner was extremely welcoming and available. I would not trade this vacation for ANYTHING. When a friend who had initially planned on staying else where's plans had to change, she was able to stay with me with no issues and more than enough space for both of us. If you are looking for a quiet place for stargazing, mountain views, and good local food barely 20 minutes away, you found it.

Off Grid stay

Overall the property is nice. The bathroom situation was not desirable because the main area closed at 9pm. So if you spend the day doing adventures you have to be sure to be back early to get a shower. The fridge is small and there is no microwave in the house. To actually cook you would have to use the main house. I missed this when I booked I would have like an area in my cabin to prepare lunch. The cabin is far from stores and is about an hour drive to most areas unless you are looking to hike near by. Not a big issue I wanted something off the grid but getting groceries was an hour drive to Alamosa and back. There is a sink with bottled water in the cabin no faucet and an out house outside. There are a lot of rules for this property such as no paper or pee in the outhouse, no trash receptacles outside of a small can in the cabin, main house is 8am to 9pm. I enjoyed my stay but would recommend this site for adults that are not too picky and want a truly step up from tent sleeping.

Cute peaceful homestead

Zuki is an amazing host. A perfect landing for a solo mini retreat in Crestone. This space is even better than the pictures, super cozy, comfy and private. Love the communal kitchen, hammocks, all the creativity, and books that are available.

Quiet Crestone Retreat

Zuki was a very gracious host. Very warm inviting week stay while my wife attended a near by retreat. I found my stay as very relaxing and refreshing. I would definitely stay here again.
