Buxton Stay September 12-16th 2024
Overall we enjoyed our stay at scallop but were disappointed with some aspects. Upon initial walkthrough, the house appeared to be clean. However, after being in the house after a bit, we found the baseboards to be filthy, black scuff marks on many of the walls, the throw pillows on the couch had a odor to them and there were multiple clumps of golden retriever hair that we swept up (we did not have a golden retriever dog so this was left from previous guests). The floor was sticky so we had to mop our first night to feel comfortable during the rest of our stay. We also found a cockroach on the first night. The house itself is lovely and has cute furnishings but the cleaning crew needs to be much more thorough. The beds, couch and lounge chairs were very comfortable. We enjoyed the screened in porch and front deck. We liked that the property had shampoo, body wash, dishsoap, laundry detergent and dishwasher detergent available for use. The property has a washer, dryer and outdoor shower which we liked. We were extremely disappointed to find that there is no pool within the community like advertised and that the pool facility available for use is about a 20 minute drive into avon. I asked multiple months prior to the stay if the pool would be open for use during our stay and was assured it would be, however, it was closed a few days prior to our stay.
