Our family and friends enjoyed a very relaxing and scenic stay at the Lodge. Tim is a very attentive host and his property is very well equipped for a large group! There was ample parking, a heated attached garage, and plenty of beds/bedding for our group.
A group that needed a get away fRom the hustle and bustle of everyday things. We enjoyed the place it was close enough to all the sights we wanted to take in. It was private and away from others. There was tons of Space and sleeping arrangements. Would come back for future stays.
This was an outstanding stay with Tim on his property! He is an EXCELLENT host and the property is GORGEOUS! The house is beautiful and very warm and welcoming and comfortable. We had everything that we needed with plenty of room for everyone and well equipped kitchen and bathrooms. We would gladly return to stay on Tim’s property again and have already recommended it to friends who are looking for a place in the area next year! and have already
Tim is an amazing host!! His beautiful cabin sits on such beautiful, well kept property. This house was more than big enough to sleep 4 families (moms and kids) with room to spare. Tim went above and beyond to be accommodating and keeps his property extremely clean. We will definitely be returning for future trips.
Met our needs. We had three adult couples and 9 kids/15 young adults in the house and two adults in a trailer on the driveway.
Its a beautiful location just miles from the National Lake Shore.
Lovely quiet space for us to stay & enjoy the beauty of Pictured Rock. House easily accommodated our group of 8 with its spacious layout. It is nestled in a very quiet area, yet an easy drive to Pictured Rock for hiking & exploring. All communication with Tim was great!
Our trip was so good that we are already talking about how to come again next year. The house was clean and well kept. The yard is like a park with plenty of room for the kids to run around. The location is great being so close to Pictured Rocks, Munising, and even only an hour from Marquette. It was initially a surprise that the owner Tim stays on the property as well, but he was very helpful in suggesting hikes (which were amazing) and it was actually helpful when the neighbors shot off some fireworks late at night. I would absolutely recommend this home for a large group like ours - so many great memories from this trip!
Sugar Maple Lodge is a great place for our first Family Trip to UP Michigan. Its location is remote / private, but yet still very close to Pictured Rock National Lakeshore. There is plenty of parking space.
Sugar Maple Lodge is very spacious for our large group, and variety of bedding options available which fits our need. Property was very clean and very well maintained. Tim is a great host and made sure our stay there is very comfortable.
Despite the historic Elliot Winter Storm / Blizzard passed through the area, he did a great job plowing the snow from driveways.
Downstairs Bedroom was with additional sleeping capacity was very useful. We will definitely stay here again (for our next UP Michigan Tour)
Beautiful property. The house was spotless! Great kitchen with all kinds of pots, pans and dishes! Bob fire pit with chairs. You can buy firewood right there for $5 a bundle. Corn hole boards my family enjoyed! Large yard! Great covered porch. Could use more chairs. Three rooms upstairs, two of which had a double bed and a bunk bed, the other had two bunk beds. Downstairs had a large room with a double bed, a futon and two bunk beds. Our only complaints were the mattresses were hard and not the most comfortable, I’d recommend to bring your own pillows they were flat. Also it was advertised that there was a hot tub and there was not. I messaged host and he said they hadn’t had it in 15 yrs. Site should be updated. It would make a great place for hunters, snowmobilers and Atvers. Our family did enjoy their time there.

Not 2 bathrooms
The home is situated on a very pretty lot in the woods, quiet and private. There were several things about the house that were disappointing to me, however. The listing is very misleading relative to the bathrooms. The listing states that there are two bathrooms- but there are really only 1.5. There is one with toilet, sink, shower/tub. The other is accessible only through one of the bedrooms on the main floor and only has toilet and sink and an unlockable door that does not fully cover the opening to the bathroom. Then there is also a free standing shower in the basement with no lighting above the shower or heat or place to hang your towel- you can't see to shower in this room. It is open the rest of the basement. Which is were the laundry is. The listing states washer and dryer. The dryer is quarter operated and the owner told me the washer soon would be too. The fact that the laundry is coin operated was not disclosed in the listing and I did not come prepared with rolls of quarters to do laundry. The dryer is older and can not support drying a truly full load of laundry in one run either. The furnishings are nice, but we all noticed the couches in the living room smell of dog. The house was very clean upon arrival. The listing states that the house can sleep 20. This is true, but the only table to eat at in the house seats 4, expandable to about 6 with folding chairs the owner provides. My personal opinion is that this house could not support more than 6 people realistically- as all have to share the one shower. The view is pretty, and the hot tub is very nice, cared for, and clean. The house is well kept, but the listing is not accurate. Given the inaccuracies in the listing, primarily the bathroom situation and the inability to have a meal with more than 6 people at a time comfortably while advertising "sleeps 20", I am giving a "Fair" rating. Further, for what this house is, $240 / night is overpriced in my opinion when I compare it the many other VRBO homes I have stayed in.
This is a fantastic place for a snowmobile trip. Plenty of parking for the snowmobile trailers and the trails were close by. The house was very spacious for the 10 of us and there was plenty of room for more people. Also, the house was well stocked with all the necessities. Very nice home and will be staying there again next year!
Excellent location for snowmobiling in all directions. Only one mile from the groomed trails. Tim is a great host! His place is clean, comfortable and well stocked with everything you need. We will definitely be back again!
The lodge was a perfect spot for our upnorth adventures. . Nice location to visit many of the U P sites, Munising, Tahquamenon, and Historic Fayette. Tim is a great gardener and friendly host. His decorating esthetic is charming and unique.
The property is beautiful! Tim does a great job with flowers and maintaining a gorgeous lawn. It was far nicer than the pictures. The location is good. You are close to hikes and not far from Munising. We had a family reunion in the house. There was plenty of room for 10 people to sleep. I highly recommend this property. Tim is an amazing host! He also sells maple syrup that you won’t want to miss!
Listing said is had hot tub and wireless internet of which is had neither. It didn’t have the littler extras I have come to expect with homes thru VRBO such as an extra roll of toilet paper, small bottles of shampoo and soap for the shower, detergent for the washing machine and coffee for the coffee maker.
