Welcome!
Kame Ame House is short for Kameoka American House. I bought this property about 2 years ago and recently (October 17, 2023) got my business permit under Japan's local regulations, hoops and hassles.
The bedrooms face east and living/dining/kitchen room faces west. This is a private and quiet location only about 10mins walking from JR Kameoka station.
You have a nice view of the mountains and trains going by in the distance from the bedrooms.
There is a kids English classroom below this flat, so during the weekdays you can hear young locals practicing English. The lessons finish at 7pm so it’s quiet after that.
The entire house is remodeled and clean and in working order. This is NOT a party house. Long stays are welcome. It is a great work or study environment.

Located in Kameoka, this holiday home is in the city centre. Kinkaku-ji Temple and Nijō Castle are notable landmarks, and travellers looking to shop may want to visit Shijo Street and Nishiki Market. Arashiyama Monkey Park Iwatayama and Toei Kyoto Studio Park are also worth visiting. Make sure you get close to the area's animals with activities such as game walks and birdwatching.

I was born and raised in California and moved to Japan after graduating school and have been in Japan almost 20 years now. Feel free to contact me in English or Japanese. Yes I can eat Natto, and yes there are REALLY good places to eat close-by. I have been living in Kameoka since 2017. This area is GREAT for bicyclists, artists, nature lovers, anyone who wants to explore Kyoto a little more than just Kyoto city.
Why they chose this property
Kawaramachi is an attractive, convenient and quiet part of Kameoka. From JR Kameoka station it is just a quick train ride to Kyoto station. The Shinkansen can be caught from Kyoto station allowing easy access around Japan if necessary. However, if you start wandering around Kameoka you may fall in love and never want to leave. There are an abundance of activities from hot springs, horseback riding, river rafting, hiking, bicycle-lover roads, Sanga Stadium events, Starbucks, authentic Japanese dining, and much much more.

My property is above an English classroom that operates Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from Noon-7:30pm. It is about 10 minutes walking distance from JR Kameoka station.
