Lovely Autumn Weekend Break
Just returned home from a long weekend break. The property, from the house to the lake, was so beautiful. W There was some rain but that just allowed for more reading by the fire.

Perfect Fall Getaway
My parents and I were in NH for a family wedding and this house was perfect for us! The host was very responsive and answered all my questions before our trip. My parents absolutely loved the house and said they would come back another time to enjoy all that NH has to offer.

A lovely and relaxing stay
The Cabin in the Sky was a lovely and very relaxing place to stay. We found it very easy to relax immediately thanks to the comfort of the home and the way it is set up. They had anything and everything you could need. And we loved having the lake just down a private road that is right on the property (we would often drive because the hills can be a bit steep for the seniors). The beach had so many options for seating and boating, and the pond/lake was crystal clear and calm. We also took advantage of the general store up the road which had good food as well. And we went to Shaw’s for our larger grocery trip. Alan was extremely responsive and helpful. We were definitely sorry to see the week end. The only draw back was the stairs to the upstairs bedrooms. They are quite steep and our party was made up of two folks in their seventies and a 13 year old dog. But we made it work and the beds were comfortable. The layout allowed us to be doing different things at the same time without disturbing one another: my uncle could be watching TV in the living room, while I was in the old dining room doing a puzzle, or lying on the sitting room couch reading a book. We will definitely think back fondly of our time in Washington, NH!

Great spot to be alone
The was the first vacation for my two young kids (I have a tween as well) we wanted a place where we could enjoy some sun/water during the Summer without crowds. This was a great spot for that, the lake is beautiful and clear, we also had amazing star gazing at night. Amenities included things we didn’t expect like canoes life jackets and fishing poles. Would just caution others that there are poisonous mushrooms on the beach so that children can be monitored more closely up by the tree line - easy enough to steer clear of.

Family get away
We had a great trip, our son (2 years old) enjoyed swimming everyday. We had to drive the road as we was too young to walk it and we did not know how hilly it was. We did encounter a deer one drive ! Was great to have boats already there to use. Only thing we wished we had was a clothes line back at the house instead of using the chairs to dry our wet clothes. The sun in the back dried our things so quickly!

Peaceful lake spot
My family wanted a getaway to somewhere quiet but fun and this house was perfect. The lake and private beach access was gorgeous and serene. My kids spent hours on the paddel boat and jumping off the floating dock. We also enjoyed the fully stocked kitchen with everything we needed. The games came in handy during a big rainstorm our first night. The upstairs beds were very comfortable and convenient to have the laundry close by. Our only issue was the downstairs bedroom did have a strong odor, so people sensitive to smells would need to sleep upstairs. Other then that, the house was awesome, eclectic and everything we hoped it would be. Also, 35 miles away from Clairmont where the Common Man restaurant is next to a gorgeous waterfall, definitely worth the drive! We would recommend this house for any family looking for a peaceful getaway!

Amazing lake front location and an adorable old farm house!
If you are looking for a very secluded, quiet and pretty property to relax for your vacation, that also includes dipping into the lake, this is your spot! The house is very large and spacious. Overall the interior of the house is decorated with the old farmhouse charm, but you will find more modern and eclectic pieces throughout still. We slept in the upstairs bedroom as that mattresses felt the most comfortable out of the few available. The bathrooms are dated and could use an upgrade. But if this is not a main focus of yours and a priority for it to be newly renovated, it is perfect and serves its purpose. The outside is stunning and nice and flat. The walk from the house to the lakefront is literally 3 minutes. Our dogs absolutely loved the morning swims and dunks in the lake. It was very quiet, calm and relaxing. A truly positive experience if you are looking to disconnect from the world. I recommend staying here!

A Taste of History
Being able to stay in a house with this much history was a real treat! When we spoke to the owner, who was very quick to respond to our inquiries, we got an idea of the history of the house and environs. We also enjoyed hiking nearby trails and walking in the fall colors. The lake is a short walk from the house on a private roadway which we did many mornings. The kitchen was very well stocked and beds were comfortable. An all around memorable trip for us!

Great family getaway!
Our family had a wonderful time staying at Cabin in the Sky. We were VERY impressed with all the amenities provided including toiletries! The house was very clean, had great decor and inspired us to get a cozy couch for our pooch as even his needs were met! The kids were enamored with the great collection of records that we listened to daily and the private beach was perfect for us! If you are looking for a quiet peaceful and relaxing vacation, this home is perfect! Thank you Alan!

Peaceful sanctuary
My family, I, and two dogs had a wonderful stay at the cottage. It was spacious enough for 4 adults that we weren't on top of each other. The kitchen is well-equipped for cooking just about anything. Very thoughtful of the owners to provide as many things as possible to make the stay very comfortable. The area is very serene, and beautiful. The lake is gorgeous. Just a heads up if you have elderly relatives or friends visiting you'll need a car to drive to the lake. The lakefront is private and for 2 days we were the only ones swimming in it. A cute convenience store in town is 4 minutes away for basic essentials and food. Shaws is 20 minutes away. We had a lovely time looking at the stars at night and relaxing in the lake during the day.

Lovely beach area
We enjoyed the lake and beach area very much. We had coffee by the water each morning and our dog swam until her hearts content. The lake is further from the house than we expected, but worth the walk. The living area is very nice and has plenty of seating for a large group. Thankful for a king sized bed too! Most rentals don't have large beds. Lots of hidden gems in the area, we saw deer out the back door, and the general store has great food! The only thing that needs fixing is the spigot by the garage. It's hard to get to, and it leaks quite a bit. Overall a nice quiet spot for a get away.

Perfect Winter Getaway
The property was a perfect New England winter getaway. The house had all the amenities needed to make our stay comfortable. The wood stove was an added bonus and kept us warm and cozy after a long day of outdoor activities. The house is situated perfectly between Pats Peak and Mt Sunapee ski areas as well as countless hiking trails. Alan was very communicative and set up our stay with ease. Highly recommend this house if looking to tuck away for a cozy New England winter getaway.

lovely, relaxing stay
The home was wonderful, spacious, cozy and stocked well with ervything we needed. The owners are kind and very responsive. Just an awareness for others, knowing that the owners have absolute no control of neighboring property, the "F**k Biden sign that was VERY large and obvious next door was concerning and made at least one person in out party uncomfortable to be outdoors. Thank you to Alan for sharing your gem of a home!!! - Sue

Cabin in the Sky
Wonderful place to stay. Host was a great communicator. House was very spacious with some really unique wood pieces of furniture in addition to lots of modern furniture. This house is fully stocked with EVERYTHING you could possibly need as if you were at your own home. There is a private road on the side of the house and in a 3 minute car ride you land at your own private beachfront on Mullen pond which has kayaks, paddle boat, canoes, floats, chairs tables etc. and also a fire pit with everything you need to have a beautiful fire. Peaceful and gorgeous! There is a propane fire pit back at the house along with outside furniture. Easy check in and out. There is a book at the house that tells you everything you need to know about your stay. Very cool place to stay. Highly recommend it! Sandra Beaudreau

We have owned this house since 1982 and over the years have made extensive renovations that include many modern amenities. We have tried to do this while maintaining the charm of an antique house built in the late 1700's.

Why they chose this property

This is a historic farmhouse that was owned by one of the founding members of the 7th Day Adventist Church. The original church was built on land donated by this homestead. It is both historic and comfortable and the unique touches from the past include a hand made cobler's table, a wheelwright's vice, and a wood cookstove. These historic features don't interfere with the modern kitchen, and modern electrical features, such as DSL internet and cable TV.

We take the utmost care in protecting our guests and follow the Centers For Disease Control's recommendations for cleaning and sanitizing our property in anticipation of all guest visits.

What makes this property unique

The Cabin is situated on 10 acres of wooded land with nearly 800 ft of private lake frontage on Millen Pond. The frontage includes a sandy beach, small fishing dock, fire pit, float, two canoes and kayaks, providing privacy and water access for the pleasure of our guests.
