About this property
Charming little house with terraces in Salento, Galatone, Puglia
Cà Mì is your ideal holiday home if you want to experience the Salento territory by living the true rythm of a small town of Southern Italy while enjoying your stay in a truly special place, where the original stones and finishings meet a more contemporary interior design. The owners found in Salento the ideal Mediterranean location for their holiday house. After a door-to-door hunt in the historic centre of Galatone they opened the door of this unique house of 60 sqm with 80 sqm of terraces on three levels, and made it their own in 2008. With 9 months of patient remodeling with local contractors and craftsmen, this house now features exquisite antique and handmade furniture and finishings. The well, the niches, the fireplace, the amazing stone vaulted ceiling of the living area were brought back to life in a more contemporary interior design. The huge master bedroom was rearranged to sleep comfortably 4 people with a newly designed mezzanine, and to create a large bathroom with double sinks and a floor-to-ceiling tiled shower room. The house has fully equipped kitchen, air conditioning/heating, TV with DVD, a large canopy with 2 sun beds on the upper terrace plus a fabulous open-air shower to end up your summer day in the best possible way. Sip your “aperitivo” in the front terrace. Take a walk and awe at the beautiful architecture of the historical neighborhood. Take the car to explore olive groves, ruins, beautifully preserved villages, beaches and to discover the simply great food this land has to offer. Make your own Best of Salento!

About the host
Hosted by Valerio Reali

We are from Faenza, a lovely town in the heart of the Romagna region of Italy. We love to travel by taking time, exploring and getting lost, and that's pretty much how we found this house. Life has brought us to a city very far away, so now we share our vacation home with all the fellow travelers that prefer experiencing over visiting.
Why they chose this property
Some years ago we grew friends with a lot of people originally from the Lecce province. Their flamboyant enthusiasm for their roots and their stubbornness in declaring that Salento was the most beautiful place in the world was almost annoying, so we decided to travel there to prove them wrong. From that time, we never went anywhere else to spend our summers. We discovered Galatone thanks to one of those friends, and we decided that this very southern and friendly town was the perfect place where to finally find our future "buen retiro". Not only it is ideally located near all the main local attractions while far enough from the madding tourist crowds, Galatone is also an architectural gem with great, simple restaurants where to enjoy the true local recipes.
What makes this property unique
While walking through the maze of the historic city center with our friends, we noticed a clearly abandoned property just next door to a tiny trattoria and what seemed to be the nicest little terrace overlooking the narrow street. Thanks to the owner of the trattoria, the word of mouth started and the following day we were able to visit the house. Its unusual and unique configuration and the incredible amount of terrace space instantly captured our imagination and our hearts. A few months later, we were starting its restoration and counting the minutes separating us from our first toast on the terrace.
