This 3 bedroom home on 1 level (up one flight of stairs), sleeps 8. Its open floor plan is perfect for family vacations. You enter the open concept living/dining/kitchen areas with the long continuous vertical grooves of the light sky blue plank ceilings, the windows flanking the west side & the sliding glass doors which create that coastal airiness that is so inviting. It is flooded with natural light & you can see the ocean (only 1 block away), before you ever put on your swimsuit. In the living area get comfortable on the sofa or 1 of the 2 upholstered chairs. Stream a movie, just add popcorn! The large coffee table is well suited to the wide variety of family friendly games to play or puzzles to be assembled. Perhaps you want to go on the front or back deck with your morning coffee & get lost in one of the several genres of beach reads to choose from. The dining table seats 8 & the kitchen bar seats 3. The kitchen is fully stocked including a Gas Stove, Drip Coffee Maker, Hot Water Pot, Blender, Immersion Blender, Mandolin, Hand Mixer, Indoor Tabletop S’more Maker & Stock Pot to make the low country seafood boils our coast is known for. There are 2 Seafood Boil Companies on the island where you can choose what seafood you want & they even include the seasonings & simple directions. Everything you need to create a memorable beach vacation meal. Whether caught or bought, put that fish on the charcoal grill downstairs for a little extra flavor. The front deck has an ocean view with large sectional seating. The back deck’s view is towards the marsh & the Davis Canal. There are 2 Adirondack chairs & a table seating 4 for alfresco dining.
There are 3 Bedrooms. Bedroom #1, the Primary with a Queen-Sized Bed & an EnSuite (tub / shower). Bedroom #2 has a Queen also & a Desk perfect for Mobile Work/School. Bedroom #3 has a set of Bunk Beds with a Twin on Top & a Double below. Additionally, a separate Twin Bed is in this room. All 3 Bedrooms have Smart TVs & Dressers/Closets to unpack. Bedrooms #2 & #3 share a hall bath with a beautiful large walk-in shower & toilet seat with built-in Toddler Ring that lowers when needed. Leave room in your suitcase for souvenirs since there is a Stacked Washer/Dryer in the Laundry Closet. Wash off the Salt & Sand in the Outside Shower with both Hot & Cold Water.
There are many activities on the island that you can take in not only the beach but the marshes as well. Locally rent a kayak or paddleboard or bring your own. OKI offers many opportunities for paddling creeks, rivers, canal wetlands & estuaries. You are between the 30th Place West & 39th Place West free public entry points to paddle the Davis Canal/Montgomery Slough. Anglers can find many pockets where various species of fish gather, especially under docks & in the grassy marsh areas. The Slough is a popular spot to watch the sunset over the water & marshlands. Enjoy the full moon during high tide.
There are several fun family educational opportunities available. One is the Sea Biscuit Wildlife Preserve. Here they rehab wild birds to hopefully be released back into their natural habitat. They also offer tours (arranged ahead of time) & educate the public about the various species of birds they have rehabbed & the services they provide. Also, check out the 19th Street East Walkway. Bring a book or take a book at the little free library there. The walkway crosses over the Marshlands. You’ll want a camera for this jaunt as well. There is often wildlife to capture your attention. If you want a nice walk, take the 19th Street Walkway to the other side & walk west to the 9th Street Walkway & back. There’s no need to rush & this loop will give you a fun & relaxing 3-mile outing.
