Experience a thrilling view of the magnificent San Juan Mountains and the sound of the rushing Lake Fork of the Gunnison River from a cabin on a prime mountainside location 1.5 miles north of Lake City off of Highway 149 (thus, ATVs need to be trailered to town "lot on corner of Hensen Street & Gunnison Ave. by Lake City Auto & Sports Center" or to Loop), and approximately 2 1/2 miles from Alpine Loop. Reservations also made through Hall Realty dot net in Lake City. Reside in a serene mountain atmosphere on an acre of natural shrubs, trees, native flowers, and boulders, with an abundance of wildlife i.e. Eagle circling in valley, deer below deck and around cabin. Enjoy the comfort of a 2150 square foot, 1½ story cabin plus a lower story (800 square feet) with a game (dart board, shuffleboard, and corn hole game) and laundry room. The main floor has no stairs or steps, and all rooms are on the main floor. Relax on log furniture i.e. swing, rocker, and chairs, under the covered front porch plus enjoy viewing the magnificent mountains and meadow while listening to the rushing river from the wrap around deck on the north side. The large deck accommodates 2 picnic tables, grill, and chairs for guests to enjoy having breakfast outside or watching the moon rise over the mountains. Deer graze in the mornings around the cabin & on the hillside, and elk herds can be seen in the meadow in early spring.
Guests can conveniently work with Wi Fi Internet connections, and the study/pantry room has a desk. One can assemble puzzles on the aspen log dining table or round den coffee table. The totally renovated modern kitchen is fully equipped with baking and cooking ware (electric grill, coffee maker, crock pot, mix master, rice cooker, toaster/baking oven, all sizes of pots/pans/corningware, hand mixer, mixing bowls, baking sheets, griddle, pie/cake pans, etc.) with spices of all kinds and has a refrigerator with in-door water dispenser and lower freezer drawer; has a dish washer, microwave, electric ceramic cook top stove, and sink disposal. The open dining area has a hutch and aspen log furniture with an 8' dining table and chairs for 10 people. Adjacent to this area is the living area with matching couches, large round coffee table, satellite "Smart" TV. From the living area, one can view through 1 1/2 story cathedral windows to see a panoramic view of the meadow, rushing river, and magnificent mountains in the landscape.
The three bedrooms are on the main floor, with the master bedroom on one end of the living area, and it has a king bed, 2 night stands with lamps, chair, and a walk-in closet. The adjacent private bathroom has a blow dryer, double sinks and a 2020 remodeled bathroom with a large walk-in shower with a bench & 2 insets, and drying area. The other two bedrooms and bath are on the opposite end of the living area. The second bedroom has a queen bed and a chest; the third bedroom has a night stand, chest, and twin top and double bottom bunk beds. The second bathroom adjoins the two bedrooms and has a 2020 remodeled bathroom with a walk-in shower. A staircase leads to the 180 square foot loft with spacious sleeping quarters. Available in the loft are two double beds, two single beds, and a futon, which can be made into a queen bed. The loft view overlooks the living and dining areas and captures the outside panoramic view of the magnificent mountains through the 1½ story cathedral glass windows.
Guests have the convenience of a laundry room in the basement, which has a washer, dryer, folding table, (complimentary detergent for one-two wash loads). The tankless water heater allows for hot water on demand. Also in the basement is a game room with a TV monitor and X Box, table to play games, electric dart board and an outside door to a covered (deck above) patio area with a concrete floor which has patio benches and a painted shuffleboard. Perfect for playing corn hole and shuffleboard which are available. One can view, from this area as well as from the deck above, the magnificent mountains and deer which graze on the flora. One can see either through the 1 1/2 story cathedral windows or from the wrap-around deck and enjoy a stunning panoramic view of the meadow, rushing river, and magnificent mountains. On the deck, families can enjoy cooking on the gas grill, eating on two picnic tables, and sitting in deck chairs while watching the rising and setting sun and moon as well as observing hummingbirds, wildlife, and the baby birds in the wren bird house being fed in the spring.
Parking is available for multiple vehicles in both the upper and lower driveways, a significant distance from Elk Road. Additionally, guests have a variety of activities available to them. The cabin comes equipped with an assortment of games and puzzles for rainy day entertainment. In the Lake City area, guests may hike one of the fourteeners, fish in a stream, river or lake, ride ATVs/jeeps on the Alpine Loop, go white water rafting, hunt game in the fall, be involved during August History Month with activities each weekend, i.e. horse stick rodeo, attend Wine & Music Festival in September, attend the Hot Air Balloon Festival in February, dine at various restaurants, enjoy gourmet coffee in the coffee houses, tour old mines, shop in the specialty stores, or ski and snowmobile in the winter months. Vacationers can also visit the college town of Gunnison 55 miles north; the mining town of Creede, which is the art capital of Colorado, 50 miles to the south; or travel to Silverton and Ouray via Cinnamon and Engineer’s Passes (four wheel drive required).
