A Fantastic Retreat
Spacious, well-equipped dwelling and grounds. Landscape views. Amazing outdoor shower. Perfectly located: 15 minutes away from great food, beaches, activities and conveniences. Would definitely stay again: 10/10 Google maps might direct you to a neighbors driveway, so pay attention to the street number when you’re arriving (the entrance is where you would expect it to be).

All the comforts of home in a quiet setting
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this lovely duplex rental located on a large private property in a quiet neighborhood. The house is a unique design with a round bedroom and en-suite bathroom that includes a door to a wonderful outdoor shower and garden enclosed by lava rock walls. The living, dining and kitchen areas are spacious and well appointed. The owners live in a separate home on the property and are available but never intrusive. We enjoyed our 3-week stay very much. Aloha.

Exceeded our expectations. Clean, clean and very well appointed.
This is an amazing place. I highly recommend it and I will stay again if I ever go back to the big island. If you rent a car it was very easy to get to great beaches and up to Waimea for good food and great hikes. Matt and Rose were very personal and helpful. They live right next door but gave us our privacy. The bed, towels and linens were top class. You need to rent this home.

Rural setting, quiet but not isolated, peaceful and private. Owner very helpful, available if needed, invisible if not. Very cool outdoor shower but nice to have the indoor one too, especially when windy. Star-filled view from the skylight above the bed. Good Vibe!!

Perfect location for us!
What a unique and wonderful place to relax. This home is very quiet, roomy and away from the crowds and tourists. We picked fresh fruit and herbs from the gardens to enjoy with our meals. The outdoor shower was delightful -it was amazing to shower under the stars. The bed is very comfortable and the entire house is well appointed. Everything we needed plus a few extra touches - beach towels, boogie boards, sand chairs and a cooler for a day at the beach. We will be back!

Wonderful!
The property was wonderful and as described. Matt was a wonderful host and it was clear that he put great energy and care into the space. It was well equipped, clean, comfortable, and beautiful. The surrounding garden and fruit trees were lovely and the outdoor shower was awesome. The bed was super comfortable and the space had everything we needed for a wonderful stay. The beach and snorkel gear was wonderful and I cannot say enough great things about the property and the experience. The unit is adjacent to another Vrbo unit, but we had plenty of privacy and have no complaints. The property was lovely and we’d gladly stay there again!

Great Location, Quiet, We Loved it!
This was our second time staying at this property. It is half way between Waimea and the beaches. It is clean, quiet and a home away from home. We had everything we needed to cook with as we like to buy fresh fish. We loved the outdoor shower. I read a couple of the books in the library. Love that we can do laundry here! Enjoyed the tangerines and limes that grow here! Loved it that we had beach towels, chairs, snorkel equipment and boogie boards! Matt is great -- so helpful! Highly recommend! We went to so many beaches, visited Waimea often for groceries and eating out. Went to Honokaa... Captain Cook for snorkling... etc. Just a note: If you want to visit Volcano Nat'l Park, I'd recommend staying on that side of island for a couple days as the park is 2 hours away from this location.

Perfect romantic getaway
The location is a 10 minute drive from the local beach. Not many restaurants nearby, takes roughly 45 minutes to drive to the heart of Kona. The property was well stocked with beach supplies. The outdoor shower was a lovely touch and stargazing at night was breathtaking. The shower also waters the tangerine tree nearby. There is a tangerine tree on the property as well as a lemon tree. Most of the tangerines had small worms crawling inside but the lemons were very tasty and unlike anything we’ve ever had. The room was romantic, clean, plenty of storage, and high quality bedding. Even though there was a skylight window above the bed, you cannot really see the stars at night. There is a laundry on the property which was a short walk away. The trash cans were close to the property as well. There’s a grill and outdoor eating area. The kitchen is stocked with spices, oils, coffee and sugar. The complementary lunch bag was very helpful for our outdoor activities. The living area was comfortable and the couches had lots of room to relax. There is no air conditioning inside the house, but it didn’t feel hot because there was a large amount of fans inside each room which helped with circulation and the windows being open helped create a nice breeze. The parking lot is very close to the house and ample parking. The outdoor views were very beautiful like a garden and many picturesque views. Overall our stay was very pleasant and we had a very lovely honeymoon. Thank you so much Matt.

Shambala
This is a very lovely, quiet and private property. It suited us well for our purposes and it is worth the price. We didn't care for the way the fee structure is handled through VRBO. I think it would feel better to quote an end price, rather than a seemingly low price that has fairly steep fees attached.

Shambhala
We had the most wonderful, healing stay, in the lovely Shambhala. It was absolutely an outstanding, charming place to stay. Genius design in paradise. Dry side Waimea had the best weather on the island, and was super conveniently located for all things grand, and worth exploring on that side of the island. The hosts were lovely, as was the privacy in paradise. The app wouldn't let me choose 5 stars. I wouldn't wish to stay anywhere else.

Tropical Oasis
Shambhala is beautifully integrated as part of an unexpected tropical oasis on the dry side of Waimea. The use of water harvesting techniques , thoughtful forest garden plantings, a citrus orchard and use of local materials makes this experience so unique. The cottage and yurt was much larger than expected . It is very clean and beautifully decorated with local vintage and antique furniture, has a nicely stocked kitchen , a large dining room, an outdoor private shower and cedar yurt with a skylight to take full advantage of the outdoors. The BBQ and outdoor seating area are perfect for further enjoying the wildlife that is attracted to this oasis . We also appreciated the use of beach chairs, snorkels and coolers. Matthew and Rose are very respectful and are available for questions, and are more than willing to share their amazing harvest of fruit . This property is also a short drive from the local farmers markets to further experience the local community supported agriculture . We were very glad that we were able to book this property and would highly recommend staying at Shambhala!

Comfortable and convenient spot to stay on the Big Island
Shambhala was actually a much larger place than we were expecting and its location 5 miles outside of Waimea made it very convenient for accessing most of the island. It was less than 2 hours from Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, less than half an hour to Waipi'o Valley and well under an hour to Kailua Kona. And best of all, perhaps, a short drive to fabulous beaches including Hapuna Beach and Mauna Kea Beach (get there early, the parking is limited). We had the use of beach gear, which was nice, a cool outdoor shower, and the stars at night were magnificent away from the lights of a city. The kitchen was moderately well-equipped for doing minor meal prep and the bed, situated under a skylight with a view of the stars, was very comfortable. We didn't realize from the listing that it is actually a unit attached to another one with a common wall through which we could occasionally hear our neighbors, although it wasn't a big problem. Also be aware that, being out in the countryside, you'll be sharing your living space with some bugs, so if you're squeamish this might not be the best choice. Our host, Matt, was super friendly and very accommodating about helping us figure out how to get the DVD player working, making suggestions of restaurants, bailing us out when we temporarily "lost" our key, and generally sharing a fair bit of aloha spirit.

Perfect getaway
Very beautiful property! We originally stayed at the Hilton, do yourself a favor and just come here! The location is perfect , easy to get to the beaches and the town for essentials. The bed was amazing, comfortable with awesome down comforter and pillows. The only thing was kind of bad was not being warned about the wind. It's all screened in and like us if not warned it can be really strong, and blow doors open, kinda spooky when you're woke up by it! Other than that ,i would recommend this place to any couple looking for a relaxing vacation!

Beautiful & serene
Shambala is on a beautiful piece of property in the farmlands of Waimea. The unit is very private. You wouldnt know there were other rentals or the owners on the same property, until you walk around. There are fruit trees and beautiful flowers right outside your door, even fresh herbs growing on the patio. The unit is very clean and well equipped. The kitchen has everything you need to cook basic meals and there is a small gas grill outside. The beds are both very comfortable and have beautiful white canopies. We loved the out door shower in the mornings and when we got home from the beach. Our favorite thing was sitting outside at night to watch the stars. The big Sky is so dark there, we saw hundreds of shooting stars during our stay. Matt and Rose were gracious and out of sight hosts. We would gladly stay again or recommend this beautiful property to friends and family.
