Noise! And no help from management!

The property manager was very unhelpful.
The vacation rental was spotless.
I was very happy with the location.
I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental.
Overall, I recommend this vacation rental.

I have stayed at the Galvestonian many times. I have stayed there for quick getaways by myself and also with family when they are visiting, and we like to get away to relax in the peace and quiet. I like the fact that there are usually not a lot of people around, especially on the beach. The room itself was fine, although it had a strong chemical smell. The grounds are very nice, pool area is great. Big issue with this stay - this was the second time that the room I reserved was near construction or maintenance work being done. There was constant noise from the unit directly above from sanding, hammering, painting and the music of the workers (not to mention them singing along). If we went out on the balcony we could smell the paint fumes and there was even more noise. The management company should not allow units in the vicinity to be rented when they know there is going to be so much noise! We booked online so they didn't exactly choose that room for us but the room shouldn't have been available in the first place. The other time this happened a year or two ago there was ongoing remodeling of essentially the whole side of the building I was on, and therefore lots of noise. We complained about the noise and we thought they'd move us to a different unit, but the asst manager just said workers can do their work 9-5. He said he would tell them to limit the noise, and he would tell the manager. However, later when the noise was worse and we told management, they didn't offer to move us, or offer something off the bill, or any gesture of quality customer service. Pretty much just stared at us. Very disappointed that managers who are in the hospitality business do not know how to handle a complaint like this or make an effort to avoid the issue in the first place. Nothing was said at check out and I felt like they just wanted us to go so they didn't have to be confronted with the problem anymore.
