About this property

Fabulous Guest House with Swimming Pond and Gazebo - Near Rexburg

The Crain guest house is perfect for the rural Idaho experience and a quiet, comfortable place to chill. We are located in the country 2 1/2 miles east of Hwy 20 and 10 minutes north of Rexburg. The guest house has views of the Tetons, swimming hole, farm land, cows, hawks, and bald eagles. The property has plenty of space for parking trailers.

The guest house is the perfect home base for all of your southeast Idaho & Wyoming adventures. We are located 5 minutes from awesome fishing and bridge jumping; 10 minutes from Rexburg; 40 minutes from Island Park; 45 minutes from Idaho Falls; 70 minutes from West Yellowstone; and 75 minutes from Jackson Hole. The world famous St. Anthony Sand Dunes are only 10 minutes away!

Don't forget your swimsuit in the summer - we have a big swimming hole with an island, rope swing, paddle boat, paddle boards, and a sandy beach to relax on. The Ashton Reservoir is only 15 minutes away and is a quiet, beautiful waterway for boating, floating, or fishing. In the winter, our swimming hole is empty and great for snow sledding. For bigger sledding thrills, the St. Anthony Sand Dunes are only a few minutes away.

After your long day, relax on the couch or recliner and read a book or watch a movie. The kitchen is stocked so you can enjoy cooking meals at home. Or, you may eat at our favorite local Mexican restaurant, El Jaliciense, in St. Anthony. For dinner and a movie, Rexburg is a short drive away. Retire to bed in the quiet countryside and drift to sleep on memory foam while snuggled in a fluffy comforter.

If you need any ideas of where to play or relax, just ask us.! We have coolers, sleds, life jackets, paddle boards, and float tubes for your use. We are in the house nearby if you should need anything during your stay.

P.S. We strive to make the guest house a low allergen environment. No smoking or indoor pets are allowed; no air fresheners or scented candles. All linens are 100% cotton and washed in scent-free detergent; all-natural cleaning products are used to clean the house.

A fantastic overniter!

We had such a great time at this location. Quiet, out of the way, beautiful scenery. I highly recommend this place for a great getaway. You almost feel “off the grid” but close to rexburg city limits. The hosts are wonderful and we would return in a heartbeat!!! A+ rating.

Peaceful

This place had everything we needed. It was close enough to drive to stores and other activities, but also out in the country and sooooo peaceful!! It was great just sitting on the balcony, enjoying the breeze, and watching the cows against a beautiful landscape. The swimming pond was a blast for our kids.

Wish we had more time to spend, but it was a cute little place. Our 8YO enjoyed her separate room with the “cool” bed.

Clean and comfortable

I love the floorplan of this little guest house--it is small, but feels very open and spacious. The beds were comfortable, and the kitchen was well-stocked. I wish I could have tried out the little beach and pond--it looked like a lot of fun. I loved the location. It was close to a small airport, but I was not disturbed by the planes. Occasionally there was a smell of fumes, which may have come from the garage below, I'm not sure, but I was able to open the windows and let in fresh air, which seemed to solve the problem. The owners are very responsive and helpful. As someone with allergies and sensitivities, I really appreciate the all the efforts they make to keep the property allergy-free.

Beautifully designed, quaint home

We were so impressed with how beautiful this home was! It was so quaint and beautifully designed /decorated. We did not realize it was on the second story when we booked - not a problem for us but you might want to keep this in mind if you are traveling with someone who doesn't handle stairs well. The platform bed in the smaller bedroom was quite firm and did not suit the sleeping preference of my husband and I. It was also quite warm in the house and even opening the window to take advantage of the cool air made little difference in the "cubby hole" created for this bed. The bed in the other bedroom was very soft and comfortable, however, accommodating a wonderful night's rest for our travel companions. Overall it is a very nice place and the owners are very accommodating. Just a few notes to help you be prepared when you stay there.

Fantastic Property

We stayed just one night here, but wish we could have stayed more. This place was clean and modern. It's set in such a peaceful and quiet setting. The beds and couches were comfortable, the kitchen well-stocked. The owner was fantastic to work with--she even called me while she was on her own vacation to make sure I could find the property and get in. Whenever we're up in that part of Idaho again, we will for sure be staying here.

Easily the nicest place we’ve stayed….

Located just a couple of miles outside St Anthony, Idaho. This guest cottage offered us a great place to stay and visit the surrounding area. We mainly wanted to visit Yellowstone, and Jackson Hole Wyoming, and they were both easy to get to from the Cottage. Good highways, very limited traffic, made each one about an hour away…The cottage itself, is located on a farm, it’s about 2 miles to “civilization” from the farm, the peace and quiet of the area, is wonderful. The cottage inside it bright and has a modern look. Outside there is a nice deck, to enjoy the evening….I’m guessing it’s about 650 sqft, which makes it quite roomy. We really enjoyed having a kitchen and laundry, as we stayed 9 days. It was always a relief to get back to our cottage after a hard day of being a tourist…lol. The main home of the property is very close, yet the cottage has its own parking area, and feels very private, we liked the security of having the owners close by. My wife and I realized why this property, is rated 5 stars in so many reviews, it is truly an awesome property, in so many ways. Thanks Misty, for a very enjoyable stay….

Yellowstone and Teton trip

This was a very cozy little guest house. It is upstairs and has a beautiful view of the Tetons. We really enjoyed our stay although we were gone most of the time seeing the beautiful sites. The rental has everything you need and the owners are super nice. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

Beautiful space in Idaho

Misty and Marvin's guest house is beautiful, spacious and very clean. We were a group of 5 and there's plenty of space and there's everything you can possibly need available. We would have loved to stay longer to enjoy more of the outdoor amenities but only had 3 nights. The pond is a lovely feature with the paddle boat and paddle boards. We would love to stay again. Thank you!

About the host

Hosted by Marvin and Misty Crain

Host profile image
Hi,
We are the Crain family. There is five of us and we enjoy the outdoors, riding toys with motors, reading books, fishing, swimming, cooking, and hanging out with family and friends. Marvin grew up in St. Anthony, ID and Misty is an implant from Southern California. For the past 18 years, friends and family have come stay with us to enjoy rural Idaho and its many activities and adventures. Several times throughout the year we have family and friends come from afar to visit us and enjoy Idaho. We decided to complete our shop and apartment project so we can offer the Crain Guest House to family, friends, and new acquaintances so they can have a quiet and private place to enjoy Idaho and the nearby National Parks. We decided to make this rental a small family business to help our children get ready for their future independence (and develop a greater work ethic). We are happy to share our guest house with you.

Why they chose this property

We decided to build a home in the Wilford, Idaho area because it is a quiet, safe, friendly, and awesome place to live. We love the property because it has clean water-fed swimming pond, dirt bike track, and lots of room to ride snowmobiles & cross-country ski. The sunsets are beautiful and the country roads are great to bike and walk. We are far enough out of town to feel 'free' to do what we want and not be pestered, but we are close enough to town for shopping and errands. We like where we live because we are close to several "day trip" activities we love to do: Yellowstone, Jackson Hole, Grand Teton National Park, skiing at Kelly Canyon and Grand Targhee, Island Park snowmobiling, floating the rivers, boating, fishing, hunting, canoeing, sand dunes, bridge jumping....so many things to do!

What makes this property unique

The guest house is on an upper level. We love the upper deck; this perch offers pretty views of the surrounding pasture and farm land. Our favorite view is out the dining window; you can see the Tetons, and it's fun to watch people playing in the pond. What we also like is even though the main house is next door, the guest house feels secluded. It is its own entity. We like the guest house's décor; it is comfortable, yet energetic. And, the soft and smooth rugs in the living room soothe your tired feet.
