Here at the "Cozy Cabin" we offer peace and quiet with our 2 story rustic cabin. This cabin is built just inside the woods on our property. Out in front of the cabin you will be able to enjoy the sights and sounds of the great outdoors. Fishing with our catch and release policy is always a favorite pass time with plenty of large mouth bass and sunfish to be had. Horses and beef cows roam in the nearby pastures for that down home country feeling. This is an off grid rental, however, a generator can be used for an extra fee. Also, there is no running water at the cabin but water can be had at our barn just a short walk away. We are currently installing a outside shower for our guest and that will be completed for our 2025 season. What would an off grid cabin be without an outhouse?? Not to worry, we have that too!! Across the road you will be able to enjoy 18 holes of golf at the beautiful and challenging Canajoharie Golf Course. The Greenview Restaurant offers fantastic meal choices and cold beverages and many times they have entertainment as well. We are located near museums such as Fort Klock, Arkell Hall, Van Alstyne Homestead as well as others. Wintergreen Park is only minutes away as well where the popular scenic trail can be found overlooking the powerful waterfalls from the Canajoharie Creek as it pours down stream and dumps into the "boiling pot." You may decide to take a road trip and within 1/2 hour you can find yourself in Cooperstown and visiting the famous baseball Hall of Fame or the Farmers Museum. A simple and easy trip located just minutes from the New York State thruway makes for a nice get away week or weekend where you can relax for a bit enjoying the peacefulness of country living.

The cozy cabin is like spending the night in your dream fort as a kid. It’s glancing no running water and great if you can actually rough it. I loved it and can’t wait to come back!
The cabin is well kept with some nice touches. Be prepared for a "Glamping" experience - quiet surroundings in woods near a pond and farms. The webpage states one bathroom with image of tub & shower. The bathroom is an outhouse (clean and very serviceable) but no running water, tub or shower.
If that suits your idea of a relaxing get away, then I can recommend it. Enjoy.

The cabin was much bigger than I expected, and it was very clean and well decorated. Host provided nice extras, like coffee and condiments., use of a grill. Weather was the pits, so we couldn’t take advantage of the pond, where we had hoped to paddle around and float on inner tubes. Only bad thing was the driveway, which was only half graveled, so we immediately got stuck in the mud. Host pulled us out with his tractor and was very helpful, but the whole drive should have been graveled for safety and convenience. He said they were new at the hosting and was open to suggestions, though. Definitely recommend!!
My daughter and I really enjoyed the cozy cabin.
The weather was extremely hot during our stay. We would recommend installing window screens upstairs so we can open the windows for cool air at night.
Additionally, we couldn't get the ceiling lights to stay on; they kept flickering on and off. We suspect the hot weather might have been a factor. As a suggestion, perhaps having one or two lamps in addition to using the ceiling lights could be helpful.
Thank you for allowing us to stay at the cozy cabin and for the wonderful wine. It was a fun experience for both of us.

About the host
Hosted by Harold Hagadorn
I purchased this property back around 2017. My first intention was to use the land for hunting and fishing but that all changed when I met a woman from Argyle N.Y. Once she came to visit she opened my eyes to other possibilities. She soon convinced me that it may be a good idea to rip down the old house and build a new .We invested in drainage for the property, fixed up the buildings, dug out the pond, and worked the land. She brought her horses down and we invested in a couple of beef cows and hogs to help maximize the use of our land. We married in 2019 right next to the pond underneath the old willow tree. We recently decided to try our luck as owners of a short term off grid rental area in hopes that others will be able to enjoy the love of the country life just as we have.
Why they chose this property
I have lived in this area my whole life. I also have visited many other areas keeping in mind the possibilities of relocating but this country life in upstate N.Y. is the place for me. Whether I look outside my door and see our animals grazing on the green pasture, a deer crossing the road, a large bass jumping from the pond or the sounds of an owl hooting in a nearby tree it is then that I know I made the right decision for me to plant my boots in this beautiful area.
What makes this property unique
I'm sure there are many places that compare to the one I call home. I have everything I want and need to live a life of happiness. The one thing that makes this place unique for me is that after working 40 years as an auto tech at dealerships, I walked away (while I was still able to walk) and took the superintendent job across the road. That put the icing on the cake.
