About this property

Fabulous French Farmhouse, entirely and beautifully restored.

Beautiful stone, country property, entirely restored. Located in the countryside, but a short distance from the village of Sireuil and the town of Les Eyzies.
The property has a large kitchen / diner (a dream for anyone who loves cooking), with fully fitted units, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, microwave and large range style oven and hobs. The cozy lounge with original stone fire surround is full of character. The laundry room is equiped with washer and dryer.
The downstairs double bedroom has stunning views over the countryside and a door leading directly to the garden. Next to the downstairs bedroom is a modern bathroom with bath/shower.
On the first floor, a large landing with an area to sit and read, a modern shower room with toilet and basin, a large triple bedroom with three singles, (matching twin beds can be put together to make a large double) and the master bedroom with a king sized bed, plus single bed and Juliette balcony. All the rooms offer beautiful views over the countryside.

The outside offers space and plenty of areas for you to relax and enjoy alfresco dining. ( BBQ, sun loungers and two dining areas.)

This fully restored home sits on 27 lovely acres in the heart of the Perigord Noir, where 600-year-old castles overlook the beautiful French countryside, and 30,000 years ago early man painted the caves with images of mammoths, aurochs and horses.
This comfortable house retains all of its authentic charm, with walls of stone, exposed beams and a massive fireplace, but it has been lovingly updated with the most modern utilities and features as detailed above. And there's wifi, of course!

From this centrally located home, within minutes you can visit tourist favorites such as the Museum of Prehistory, Lascaux caves, and the medieval village of Sarlat; your family can go hiking, fishing or canoeing in the nearby woods and rivers; explore nearby castles, ancient churches, and historic villages; shop for antiques, artisanal crafts or fresh produce at morning farmer's markets; or simply relax in this peaceful spot to watch the deer graze in the fields at dusk and admire a billion stars in a night sky with no light pollution.

A mid term cleaning service is available, Euros 75 arranged with property manager. Security deposit of Euros 300.

Smoking is only permitted outside.

Wonderful farm house in a fascinating region

We had a great time time in this large, well-equipped house in the Dordogne region. The house in on a huge property and is not walking distance to anything. You definitely need a car, but you will want one anyway if you are vacationing in this area. There are many sites within a 20-30 minute drive, but they are in multiple directions. This house is well located in the heart of the region. There is a very helpful guide in the house that lists popular attractions. local stores and restaurants. We found the recommendations very useful. Highlights of our trip included visits to Lascaux and Font de Gaume caves, as well as nearby Château de Commarque. Sue was a very helpful host who communicated well and took good care of us.

Wunderbares Anwesen

Lovely rural property

I stayed here with my daughter over the Christmas holidays. The property is beautiful, the stone house is very well designed and very comfortable, and the kitchen is amazing - especially the La Cornue stove and the stone sink. You can stand at the window and look out over rolling hills while you cook. And, although it's very private with a long drive leading up to the house, it's only minutes from the nearest town. We've come to the area for the last few winters and we know from experience that it can be difficult to find things to do during the holidays. Fortunately, the two women who manage this gite were incredibly helpful so that we had a wonderful time. Even though many businesses were closed, Susan and Jill found us restaurants that were open and even made a reservation for us. We had one extra special meal, we shopped in touristy but charming Sarlat at the Christmas market, and we found a few local brocantes where we nosed around for antiques. Best of all, we went on a truffle hunt and my daughter dug up a 270gm truffle! Fun stuff! Of course, we shopped at outdoor markets and cooked and drank, and we gazed at an entire sky full of stars, brilliant against the black night, as we walked in the winter air. This was a great place to stay in the winter; I can only imagine how lovely it is in the summer with all of the shutters thrown open and a breeze coming through.

French countryside at its best

Beautifully remodeled house -- completely modernized but with lots of original features like old beams, stone sink, and exposed stone walls in the lounge room. Loved the gourmet kitchen, expansive grounds and privacy. The clear view of the night sky was breathtaking! We went to the Christmas markets in surrounding towns, which was a lot of fun.

Resident in the Dordogne since 2002, I love the area and the people. The summer months are just packed with wonderful events, sunshine and lots of fun. I have been managing holiday homes since 2004 and nothing is more satisfying than making people happy. I also run a small B & B from at my home near Meyrals. I look forward to welcoming you to this beautiful part of the world.
