It's a bed to sleep in, but not comfortable and a bit weird
The title of this listing is not wrong - it is a cozy room in a cute Albany house. But I would not recommend staying here.
Mostly I was put off by the shared bathroom arrangement. The listing description does say it is a shared bathroom, and I have shared bathrooms with other travelers in the past, but in this context "shared bathroom" means the owner lives here and has his stuff everywhere (which kind of smells weird?) and although the surfaces themselves were all clean and probably sanitary, it just kind of felt like visiting an older uncle or something who hasn't really prepared to have company. I actually went over to someone else's house to shower the next day because I wasn't comfortable here.
Also, he keeps the thermostat very low - I was freezing all night long. I found the thermostat in the morning but by that point the damage had been done.
Finally, my only interaction with the property owner was an unpleasant one where I turned on the light in the kitchen (I had to wake up early the morning of my departure) and he grumpily told me to use a different light. It was a bright light and I am happy to accommodate other people but A) there was no other light and B) if that's an issue, the owner should really put a sign by the light switches and provide a clear alternative light source that won't bother him so much.
I was pretty put off by this stay - I really should have just slept on a futon at a friend's place or even a cheap motel room or something. I prefer to have a private bedroom when I travel but in this case it wasn't worth the added cost.
