About this property

Waterfront Mid-century Modern Gem Surround by Forever Wild Land

Bridge House is a true gem of mid-century modern styling. Furnished with iconic pieces by Charles Eames, Jens Risom, Paul McCobb, & George Nelson-this recently remodeled atomic ranch has clean lines, and an open floor plan. The updated kitchen, bath and exterior deck were designed by award-winning architect Barry Price, and bring the house firmly into present day, without sacrificing the cool original mid-century details. The rosewood wall paneling, oak parquet floors, ultra-hip light valances, and floor to ceiling windows are all still there – but with energy efficient glass and swanky new European sliders. Load the iPod with Frank, Dean, and Sammy, crush some ice for the martinis, kick back and relax.
Accessible only by private bridge, Bridge House is perched above the waters of Little Beaver Kill Stream which will gently wake you in the morning and lull you to sleep at night with its soothing murmur. The floor to ceiling windows in the living room bring the landscape indoors, where the play of light, woods and water combine so the house seems to ride along the currents of the stream.
In summer, take advantage of the cantilevered deck for an above-the-stream dinner. In winter, snuggle in comfy chairs by the generous stone fireplace while the snow settles on rocks and boulders below. In spring ferns and mosses surrounding the house unfurl their shoots, creating a blanket of variegated green. In autumn, crunch your way through drifts of ochre, persimmon and henna leaves. There will be a lot of them, because Bridge House is surrounded by hundreds of acres of forever-wild lands. Want to take a hike? Just step out the back door. Don’t be surprised if you see deer, raccoons, rabbits, groundhogs, and birds-a-plenty! Heron, ducks, kestrels all are frequent visitors to the waters’ edge.
Private, but not remote, Bridge House is short drive from Woodstock’s center and a shorter drive still from Phoenicia, recently named one of the 10 best small towns in America. It is also within walking distance of the NYC bus line, so you don't have to have a car. Tell the driver to drop you off at Grogkill Road.

Wonderfully off the beaten path
We enjoyed our week at your Mid Century home, the furnishings were beautiful, the artwork throughout very fitting to the era. We spent hours on the deck over the Little Beaverkill listening to the stream and the rustle of the leaves, leaving us relaxed and looking forward to a return stay.

A Mid-Century Masterpiece
This Mid-Century house is an absolute treasure: exquisite design, beautiful artwork and antiques, poetry books and a stereo, a comfy mattress, generous deck, and views of both woodlands and the river. My partner and I felt at home in this cozy environment and were continually in awe of the elegant arrangements and design. We can’t wait to come back!

Mid Century Modern Paradise
Came up from Brooklyn for Memorial Day weekend. Had an absolutely perfect stay at Bridge House. It's tucked away in the woods, you have to cross a private bridge to get there! House is perfectly appointed, everything new and working. The house itself is a splendid example of mid-century modern, and the furniture and decor is perfect. Highly recommended! -Nathan

Beautiful
Amazing location, wonderful house. House needs just a little TLC. Missing a few lightbulbs, and the deck needs some help...we loved the glass top table on the deck the last time we were here and it was not here on this visit. I'm sure the owners are on top of it. We had a lovely getaway for our 38th anniversary. Wildlife in the region abounds. We saw numerous deer and, while driving to Woodstock on route 212, three bear cubs crossing the road! Hope to visit again.

Weekend Getaway
We rented this property to take the kids for an outdoors weekend getaway, and it was nothing short of perfect. Being right on the creek, this rental was perfect for hiking and fishing and just exploring the beauty nearby. It was very clean and well maintained and the owners were very kind in recommending local attractions. Would highly recommend and would definitely return!

Great location, secluded river house
The location of this house is absolutely perfect with easy access to downtown Woodstock or Phoenicia a short drive away while also being secluded in the woods enough to feel private. Sitting on the deck, drinking coffee, listening to the river and watching the woods was our favorite part. Having the river right next to the house is absolutely wonderful. This house felt like walking into a family’s weekend getaway cabin.

Bridge House
The house was like a moment in time. It’s full of art and artifacts from mid century modern art and architecture. The private bridge, fireplace and water feature were highlights. Note: The property is close to Rt. 212, and some traffic is audible.

Beautiful, inspiring place
The interior decor in this rental is certainly superior in quality and beauty to any vrbo rental we have done over the years, Internationally. This makes for a wonderful experience and certainly the sound of the creek rounds it all up in the best way. Very helpful owner!! We will hope to return one day!

Bridge House
This is an amazing place to get away and unwind. Lots of TLC in this place with a beautifully collected and curated interior and a fabulous architectural layout. We had lots of space and serenity. The deck is off the hook....although we stayed here in June, we were thinking it would be beautiful in all seasons. We would love to come back!

A secluded treasure
The Bridge House is a beautifully designed and maintained house in a stunning location right by the creek. We spent a lot of time in the creek (and found crayfish and fish) and found the deck to be a relaxing place to absorb the sounds and sights of nature. Very private yet accessible to nearby towns for groceries. Thank you for the wonderful memories for our family.
