About this property

Secluded Paradise In Port Royal Overlooking The Caribbean's Most Beautiful Bay.

This 3,600 sq/ft house sits on the edge of the Port Royal National Park on the historic pirate enclave of Buccaneer Hill.

This house is ideal for those adventurous travelers seeking to get away from it all. The property is very secluded with no neighbors, but with easy access via a road that borders the national park.

We can arrange for a boat.

World class snorkeling and diving can be found around the bay.

In front of the house is some excellent flat fishing for bonefish, permit, tarpon and snook. Off shore there are other game fish like tuna, wahoo, sailfish and marlin.

There are two stand up paddle boards available. You can paddle these around the bay and into channels through mangroves (or to snorkeling spots).

Or you can just sit back and read a book and enjoy a beautiful serene sunset.

We recommend renting a 4x4 from Econo across from the Airport.

Beautiful house, wonderful deck, Awful access road
We had a great time in this remote house in Roatan. View and huge deck is absolutely wonderful and unique. We were 4 adults and 2 babies (7 months and 2 years old) and stayed there on the first week of april. Comments for other renters… Kitchen Kitchen is basic but ok. There is a little charcoal BBQ. There is a fridge and freezer. Rooms The master bedroom has a king bed and is ok. Second room is in the basement and we found it quite hot, far from the bathrooms and . We moved the bed to the spacious living room upstairs. There is beds for 4(2 beds) and 1 couch that can sleep one. All the rooms are rustic and open to the exterior (with screens). Mosquitoes weren’t an issue. Air was hot, but ok when windy(most of the time). When the wind stopped, it was simply unbearable for our cold blood(More than 30 C all night!)…we decided to rent an A/C equipped room in the west end for the last night. Road This is the main issue with this property. The private road to the house is awful and lacks maintenance with 1 foot deep crevasses in some sections and steep hills. You absolutely need a sturdy 4x4 (We had a good pick up truck rented at Avis for 55 USD a day tx in). A car cannot make it up there (We tried). The 2.5 km takes about 15 mins of a duneboggey ride (Some tourists pay for that, you won’t have to!). After you get used to it, the views from the road are breathtaking even if the drive is a challenge. Hiking to camp bay takes 20-25 mins. Driving takes 20. Water and utilities Water system in the house relies on rainwater with a big tank under the house. Working in water, I tested the water for coliforms and it tested positive…just don’t drink it. We were supplied with drinking bottled water in sufficient quantities. There is more available for 3$ at La sirena bar at camp bay. Solar panel supply electricity. There are many outlets around the house. No internet but cellphone tower near the house. We didn’t use it. No phone either. Access to Port Royal bay There is an abandoned dock about 300-400 m from the house. (5 mins hike down). No sand beach there but beautiful bay to swim. We kite surfed from there on south-east winds. Beaches on the north side in camp bay are simply beautiful. Food There is a grocery store in French Harbour (45 mins drive). La Sirena restaurant’s setting over water is unique. You can also eat/have a coffee/beer at camp bay lodge recently renovated.

A quiet, remote, adventure in many ways
We just returned from this beautiful island & overall would have to say our experiences ran the gamut. WE LOVE the island & all the varying aspects of it, & we explored it from end to end. The house is very rustic, secluded, & quiet. If you want to walk to shops & restaurants & party till you puke, this is not the location for you. probably the most challenging is the road & getting there with appropriate instructions. The road was very rough, especially after 6-7 days of rain that preceded our arrival, but nothing that a good 4X4 can't handle. The house has sufficient room & a beautiful view of Ford Caye. The amenities are very basic & since we were the first to rent it, we had to buy a lot of supplies for the bath & kitchen & some of the kitchen items need to be replaced, but totally usable. As with most houses in this area & the island in general, they are very open & airy which means you can have natural visitors such as bats, spiders & ants. Just don't feed them & they won't bother you. We had easy access to the beach just below the house & SUP to use. The neighbors are not close but very friendly. We thoroughly enjoyed the deck at night, the quietness & unobstructed view of the bay. We were also very active with diving, snorkeling, & fishing but drove to other parts of the island to do these. There are so many beautiful beaches, cool, out of the way & over the water bars & restaurants, & very friendly people everywhere we went. Make sure you go to The Hole in the Wall & listen to Captain's Ed's stories & have their lobster. Best I've has in a while from a simple over the water grill. Also go to BJ's on Friday afternoons for live music & fun with a great group of Expats. Then go to the end of East Bay & have lunch over the water at La Sirena. They have great views & a friendly pet pig. The locals were very open & receptive & helpful. We had a very enjoyable time & our diving experiences were some of the best with Tropical Island Divers, Marcos, Edward, & Mareck. WE will certainly use them again. Overall, we had a fabulous time!! This is not a 4 or 5 star place where you will be waited on hand & foot, but that's not us anyway. Olsin, the property manager stopped by every couple days to see if we needed anything & gave us a lot of great information about the area & the island. I would stay here again & recommend it for those looking for adventure, seclusion, & ok with roughing it a bit. The weather & scenery were fantastic!! Thanks to all!
