About this property

Sunflower Resort ConeflowerCabin is in the ultra-quiet Winthrop South community, with a 5 minute walk to downtown on the pedestrian trail.

Sunflower Resort Coneflower Cabin, newly opened in April of 2024, is a private, modern, pet-and-child-friendly (Pet Fee required,) 1000 ft2 cabin with 2 bedrooms (Queen/Queen) and 1 1/2 bathrooms. It offers step-free access from the 2-car carport stocked with its very own EV charger. The resort is just a 10 minute walk from Winthrop’s Western-themed downtown. It is a cabin on its own private cul-de-sac, is very quiet, with no traffic sounds from the public roads nearby, and is surrounded by undeveloped fields.

Coneflower Cabin is one of 7 fully furnished vacation cabins at the resort. The entirety of the Resort cabins can support your party of up to 37 individuals for planned parties, weddings, reunions, team sports groups, memorials, and more.
Additionally, in 2025 we will have a complete outdoor kitchen to complement the otherwise very complete cabin kitchens.

For those wanting indoor amenities to bolster their outdoor pursuits, unique to all downtown lodging facilities, the resort has an onsite day spa offering massage, yoga, facials, naturopathic consults, acupuncture, full hair and nail care, hyperbaric treatments (HBOT), IV therapy, far infrared sauna, meditation and more.

Sunflower Resort has easy access to all activities, it is right on the ski and bike trail, with just a 5-minute walk to the hockey rink and 3 minutes to the Homestream Park. We offer free use of "beater mountain bicycles" for roaming on some light trails near and close to the resort. Outdoor play experiences in the Methow Valley include biking, running, skiing, hiking, rock-climbing, rafting, horseback riding, downhill skiing, and so much more.

Cabin amenities include a complete kitchen, a 6-ft soaking tub, a private 2-car carport with EV charger, a large sized washer and dryer, a 100% organic queen-sized Avocado latex bed in the master suite, and a second Avocado queen in the second bedroom, air conditioning, central heat, and private back decks with loungers.

Wonderful cabin!

Loved the well designed small cabin- fabulous location close to trails, the Barnyard Cinema, restaurants and town. Michael and Sierra are lovely and responsive - so welcoming. our dog loved the snowy multi-use trail just minutes from our door. Best of in-town locations!

Winthrop getaway

Great communication with hosts prior to our arrival answering all our questions quickly. Very clean (and we are picky). Great location for skiing and a quick walk to town. Extremely pet friendly, including a raised dog bed that I may now need to buy for our dogs!

Great location

Beautiful cabin, very clean, great location and loved that they had electric car chargers. It would have been nice to have 2 showers as we had 2 couples staying there.

Wonderful winter weekend

What a great spot to enjoy a wonderful winter weekend. This cabin is ultra-walkable to restaurants, downtown Winthrop, movie theatre, skating rink, and trails. Teens can have some independence during a family weekend, and everyone can get their outdoor fix easily. Wall charger for EV was great. Hosts were super responsive and helpful.

A great place in Winthrop

The only thing lacking at this 1,000-square-foot, very new cabin was "Winthrop charm." The large kitchen was very well equipped, the main bathroom had a great rain shower and separate soaking tub, the unit was very comfortable, private and obviously welcomed dogs. We especially liked the fact that we could access skiing or snowshoeing within a block's walk, so we didn't have to drive. Covered parking also meant we didn't have to scrape ice or snow off the car when we did go out. We would happily stay here again.

Perfect for 2 couples

We really enjoyed our stay for a few days of nordic skiing. Sunflower Resort is conveniently located a short walk from the Winthrop trailhead and a short distance to the local grocery store, restaurants, and shops. The Coneflower cabin was immaculately clean and had plenty of space for 2 couples. The kitchen was stocked with enough basics for preparing meals. (As big coffee drinkers, we might suggest adding a drip coffeemaker to the electrical kettle and pour-over setup. Make sure to try the locally roasted Blue Star Coffee!) Beds were very comfortable, and the unit was far enough from the roads to be nice and quiet. We will definitely book again for a return trip!

Our stay at the Sunflower Coneflower

We had a great stay. It was cozy and really nicely outfitted. Great lighting and furnishings we did not feel like anything was missing. We baked in the oven all day for a team meal Saturday night and it was like being at home. We will look forward to being there again. Comfortable for us and our son. They did a great job with layout and desighn of the cabins. Easy to find and very close to everything. I am definitely going to get a massage next time! My wife loved hers. Thanks!

Cornflower

We really enjoyed our stay at the Sunflower Resort. Our unit was comfortable and clean. Very conveniently located to downtown Winthrop . The kitchen was well-equipped although I would prefer an actual coffee machine as opposed to the drip/thermos method provided. It was a great place to stay with dogs. Be aware that tv is streaming only. We didn’t have our id or passwords so felt frustrated not having tv access.. also it would be helpful to have reading lights in the bedroom and couch in the living room..

About the host

Host profile image
Sunflower Resort took five solid years for us to step-by-step build. However, the idea to have such a place arose 35 years ago. The resort is the culmination of a dream to have an oasis for wellness and rejuvenation (the Methow Valley Wellness Center, in business for almost 30 years), and a lovely place for guests to stay on-site.

Over these three decades, Michael built many houses & studio garages, a boutique hotel, the Wellness Center, a tree house, and a custom yurt. He has always enjoyed consulting and advising novice builders and do-it-your-selfers, in their quest to self-build a home here. Sierra finished her naturopathic medicine training in 1997 and that same year, moved to the Methow and hung her shingle.

We love the satisfaction of working together on big projects that provide an entrepreneurial challenge. We are thrilled to have manifested this dream to have a place where people relax and enjoy family and friends. While at the Sunflower Resort, we want you to be completely comfortable, and happy to set aside your busy life pace to enjoy the valley's wonderful offerings.

These modern quiet, dog-and-kid-friendly, in-town homes, are close to the launch point for all outdoor activities-mountain biking, trail running, ice hockey, Nordic and downhill skiing, alpine hiking, golfing, river floating, and more.
Sunflower Resort is just a 10-minute walk to Winthrop's historic downtown.

While you are with us, you might want to attend a yoga or other movement class, in our beautiful facility, just steps away from your home. Perhaps schedule your first-ever facial, massage, pedicure, manicure, or acupuncture treatment.

We also have an expert hair color artist with a private salon room, Consider any offerings from our team of 25-year veteran healing arts practitioners of counseling, naturopathy, mindfulness counseling, and more.
We’d love to host your family, friends, or group event. Contact us to discuss this anytime.

Why they chose this property

The Sunflower Resort cabins, of which by Summer of 2025 there will be 7, are situated in a quarter circle configuration, with all the back decks facing outward toward the East, South and SW. Because of this configuration they all get lots of glorious sun from their back decks, and have a fairly amazing amount of privacy. There are birds and deer and wild turkeys who use the fields around the cabins. The resort cabins are on a private lane, with the Methow Valley Wellness Center right here as well. There is very little to no road noise. This little property is just a 10 minute walk from the historic downtown Winthrop WA area, and is right on the ski and bike trail. The river is 5 minutes away and accessible from a park that celebrates indigenous peoples of the Methow. Walking from the resort to the hockey rink takes 5 minutes.

What makes this property unique

The resort homes are very comfortable and complete, and a great launch point for so many activities. You won’t spend a lot of time driving between places, but rather, have plenty to do even within walking distance. You can easily book your massage, hair, nail, facial, and waxing appointments at our on-site massage and day spa, MVWC.glossgenius.com. If you are up for more serious healing experiences, we have acupuncture, naturopathy, counseling, and mindfulness meditation. The wellness center has been operating for almost 30 years continuously. Dr. Sierra and Michael, the founders of both, are right on site. We care about your comfort while you are here and are enthusiastic to help you find wonderful places to explore.
