Family Vacation

The overall experience was just ok. The only real complaint I have with the property itself is the living room furniture. The couch has been “fixed” using plywood and is very uncomfortable to sit on. The sleeper sofa is extremely uncomfortable and has broken wooden pieces that almost puncture through the back of the couch. The condo was fairly clean but not what I would have considered acceptable. We left the condo cleaner than what it was when we checked in. A little TLC and this would be an excellent rental.

NOISE WAS HORRIBLE

It was great till halfway through vacation they started construction on condo above me. They were removing floor so this went on for 3 days. From 8 am till 5 pm it was so loud . It wasn't enjoyable we wanted piece and quiet to sleep in but you couldn't. You couldn't hear tv over noise. My wife is a cancer survivor and handicapped she wanted to go to beach but she couldn't to far.

Fantastic place

We had a great time staying in the condo. It was very clean and allowing us to sign up for the pool area was great. I felt safe with the Covid precautions put in place. Just a few things about the place-The overhead light in the living room and the jetted tub did not work. The curtains in the living room and master bedroom did not open all the way so we could not fully access the view. Also, the owner in the condo next to this one smokes so while we were on the balcony it was sometimes noticeable. Overall we had a fabulous time!

A fun trip

The condo was comfortable and provided everything that we expected. We especially enjoyed sitting on the balcony. The condo was not as clean as we thought it should have been, ie the floors. And some of the dishes in the kitchen cabinets had to be washed before using. We had a great time!

1st time visiting

We just had a few glitches during our stay. Air stopped working for a couple days and we never could get the TVs working in 2 of the rooms. Other than that the unit was very well stocked. Even had a margarita maker!! We kept finding things to use. Sadly on the last beach day we found a beach canopy that we could’ve been using. The owners really thought of pretty much anything we possibly could’ve needed.

Roomy & well stocked

Truly enjoyed this property. It had everything we needed (besides food!) -even extra beach toys, chairs, etc. any kitchen gadget you can think of, this place had it! Also liked the black out blinds in the parking lot side windows.

2/10 Terrible

Mark and Terry S.

I wouldn't recommend the condo. The condo was dirty.

This condo wasn't clean, Frankly I think whom ever was contracted to clean the condo or whom ever cleans the condo isn't doing their job. When arriving I was very disappointed the carpet in living room area had a dirt path. I wouldn't let my grand children go bare foot not to mention that there socks were filthy. The air vents had months of dirt built on them. I took the return vent cover off and the filter hadn't been change in months. (I have photos.) What the crazy thing is that there was new filters in the laundry room but no one took the time or effort to do so. I changed the filter myself and I left the filthy one in the laundry room to bring to someone or anyone attention. The kitchen had trace ceiling and it had dust build up on it. The bedrooms and bathrooms was satisfactory. Also the vacuum was so full it wouldn't work. Had to clean that. The TV remotes needed batteries which I purchase and replaced. I believe that whom ever manages this condo needs to check the condition before each paying customer takes possession of the condo. I am not a white glove freak however I except when paying peak pricing that the accommodations to be clean.

Why they chose this property

We love Dauphin Island, a wonder of nature and full of history - a barrier island on the Gulf of Mexico . The population is about 1,300. The town is included in the Mobile metropolitan statistical area. The island was named for Louis XIV's great-grandson and heir, the Dauphin. Our 'laid-back' atmosphere is prized by folks who enjoy serenity and natural beauty.

The eastern, wider portion of the island, is shaded by thick stands of maritime pine trees, but the narrow, western part of the island features scrub growth and few trees.

Dauphin Island is home to Fort Gaines, Dauphin Island Sea Lab, The Estuarium public aquarium, the Dauphin Island Airport, boat ramps, a fishing pier located on the Island's eastern end, historic sites, several restaurants. Beaches attract tourism, and fishing is a popular activity in the waters around the island. The island is connected to the mainland by a 3.5 mile long bridge.

Although the entire island is a bird sanctuary, the main one is the 164-acre Audubon Bird Sanctuary. Dauphin Island is the first landfall encountered by many birds as they migrate north from Central and South America, and as a consequence many species can be found resting there before continuing their journey.

In 1519, the Spanish explorer Alonso Álvarez de Pineda was the first documented European to visit, staying long enough to map the island with remarkable accuracy.

The island's French history began on January 31, 1699, when the explorer Pierre Le Moyne, sieur d'Iberville, D'Iberville later decided to locate a port for Fort Louis de La Louisiane (Mobile). Fort Gaines on the eastern tip of the island was built between 1821 and 1848. It was occupied by Confederate forces in 1861, and captured by Federal troops during the Battle of Mobile Bay. The phrase, 'Damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead,' was spoken by U. S. Admiral David Farragut just a few hundred yards from Dauphin Island's shore.

We love 'The Island' as much as we know you will!

What makes this property unique

There are so many reasons to love Dauphin Island. The atmosphere is quiet and laid back ( you are on Island Time ). The beaches are beautiful, white sand, miles of beach to walk and enjoy shelling, fishing, birding, watching the dolphins (lots of them)! The SUNSETS are fantastic...Dauphin Island is Alabama's 'Sunset Capital' Our homes provide you with an awesome deck overlooking the views to the south, east and west. You are also close to the island-wide bike trail which is great for biking, running, or walking. There are no traffic lights on the island and life is truly low key. This will be the most relaxing vacation you can remember.
