About this property
Hickory Hideaway - 3 BR, 3 1/2 BA, Log Home, Stunning Views
Looking for a special mountaintop space to escape the everyday? Look no further than Hickory Hideaway, a majestic two-story log home with virtually everything you came to the mountains to enjoy. This custom-built cabin sleeps 8 comfortably offering plenty of space for family and friends. With stunning views from both levels, you will truly feel like you have gotten away from the hustle and bustle of regular life.
Once inside, the main floor opens onto a small sitting area, perfect for enjoying that book you have put away for another day. No excuses here at Hickory Hideaway though! Continuing through, this cozy space opens to a spacious living area with vaulted ceilings and exposed beams centered by a beautiful stone wood burning fireplace and surrounded by plenty of comfortable seating. Enjoy hearing the laughter from your group drifting down from the loft above as they play pool, darts or watch endless “old school” VHS movies on their very own VCR/DVD player.
The main dining area, adjacent to the living area is a perfect gathering place for family dinners or for those competitive vacation night board games or putting together one of the homes many puzzles. With the open kitchen sitting conveniently to the right, your favorite cooking utensils and appliances are waiting for the chef in your group to whip up something special. Easy conversations flow between all spaces in this well thought out home. Even the adjacent washer and dryer laundry area offers easy access to everyone in your party. The primary king suite with en-suite bath adjacent to this area opens to the main living room as well.
Entering the upper level, you will immediately feel welcomed to the loft game room by a small gathering of chairs, pool table, darts, and a overstuffed couch. Dance parties might ensue with the game room's record player and its eclectic collection of vinyl. Also located on the upper floor is a double queen suite with bathroom en-suite and an additional queen room with bathroom en-suite. Bonus! Each queen room has its own air unit, so you can be sure to be comfortable whichever space you choose.
Enjoy viewing the sun, moon or stars with your morning or evening beverage from your favorite chair on the wraparound deck, leading to the large picnic table patio area complete with gas grill and smoker. Smart TVs where you can log into your own apps, central air and heat, washer, dryer and Zito High Speed Internet and Wi-Fi complete the package. This special mountain property will make you want to return to the take in the views again and again!
Please note this home is not pet friendly. Unauthorized pets on property will incur a $300 per pet penalty. In any type of snow or winter event four-wheel drive, all-wheel drive, and chains would be required.
Just a few minutes’ drive to the heart of Maggie Valley, Cataloochee Ski Area (known for being one of the first ski resorts in the US to open each year), Tube World (snow tubing), Wheels Through Time (a historic motorcycle museum featured on the History Channel's “American Pickers”), horseback riding and golfing. In about 25 minutes, you could be in Waynesville at Ingles and Publix grocery stores, Walmart or head to Main Street in Waynesville and enjoy additional shopping, dining, and sightseeing.
This home is just minutes from the Blue Ridge Parkway, Great Smoky Mountains National Park, and Harrah's Cherokee Casino (even if you do not gamble, Harrah's has some of the best restaurants around), Pisgah National Forest, several golf courses, and just west of Cherokee is Bryson City (home of the Great Smoky Mountain Railway and “Polar Express” during the Christmas Holiday).
A little more than 50 minutes away, you’ll arrive in Asheville at the Biltmore Estate & Winery (America's largest and most visited privately-owned home), many great restaurants and micro-breweries, and 1 hour and 30 minutes away is Transylvania County (home of the most waterfalls in the United States), and over 100 Antique Shops.
Approximately, 1 hour away heading south to Hendersonville, you can visit Sierra Nevada Brewery (with their enormous dining and Tap Room), gem mining, white water rafting, zip-lining and much more in the surrounding areas.
You are just under 1 hour 35 minutes to Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, Tennessee (home of Dollywood).
