About this property

Victorian Home On North Beach. Incredible Panoramic Views Of Lake Michigan.

The Victorian House on the North Beach was built in 1890. It is one of the original beach houses in historic Monroe Park. In fact, the home is depicted on a plaque which is located at the Monroe Park just up the street. Although modern on the inside, it retains much of the charm of the period. It boasts 4 bedrooms (one on main floor), two and a quarter baths, (both on first floor), house sleeps 12, and has a large verandah where many guests have spent breezy Lake Michigan evenings reconnecting with family and friends, near 180 degree views of Lake Michigan, window air conditioners, and a bathtub and shower in the upstairs bath.

There is a sitting area overlooking the beach with expansive views of the Lake from the master bedroom.

Enclosed screened porch off of the dining room, also facing the beach, affords additional lovely views. A full-sized futon was recently added to this porch, transforming it into a sleeping porch by night for those guests who want to capture cool Lake breezes and fall asleep to the gentle rolling waves of the Lake.

Gorgeous sunsets and within walking distance to downtown shops and restaurants. The Black River is just down the street. Easy walk to the North Beach lighthouse. Parking for 2 cars provided in carport. Beach stickers can be purchased from City Hall for additional parking in front of the house, or purchased daily from the pay station on the North Beach in front of the house.

There is a child's playground on the North Beach, and a kayak launch with kayak rentals on the beach was recently added by the City two years ago. The city also added a boardwalk leading to the Lake which is handicap accessible.

Comcast cable and internet, dishwasher and laundry facilities included. Linens and bath towels included. Please bring your own beach towels. Beach folding chairs included.

Fully stocked kitchen with microwave, coffeemaker, toaster, dishes, utensils, etc.

Bunk beds for kids, queen bed in master, full bed downstairs. Board games and toys provided for children. Make memories for your children and grandchildren!

A propane grill and a portable campfire are also included for your use.

Weekly rentals only during the summer season., and run from Saturday to Saturday. Two night minimum rentals considered during the low season, including early June and late August, depending upon availability. Discounted rates available during mid to late May and late September and October. ***PLEASE NOTE: ***The house has NO central source of heat, but is well-insulated and plenty of blankets as well as portable heaters and a fireplace heater are provided so that Autumn nights are cozy. Rentals are not taken after the third weekend in October.

Check in on the day of arrival is 4 pm and check out is at noon on the day of departure, to ensure our cleaning service has sufficient time to clean and disinfect the home between guests.

Weekly rentals for the summer of 2021 will start to be taken after November16, 2020, but definitely not before.

Come and enjoy direct access to this wide and sandy beach and make memories for your children and grandchildren!

Great Vacation spot

It was wonderful being in a true beach house for our stay. The original and authentic aspect really added to the beachside, relaxing feel. The location is the best for beach access, sunsets, and overall lazy day relaxations. We loved it.

Awesome Owner, location and property with a wonderful wrap around porch

There were 6 of us Gal’s staying and we had a wonderful time. The house and accommodations were perfect and Karen the Owner is very nice and responsive. We spent a lot of time on the beautiful porch overlooking the lake and people watching. We cooked all meals and the kitchen was well stocked with pots and pans. We are thinking about renting the house again next year. Patti Hilden

Great Location

The plan was for a great weekend for us (the grandparents), our children and grandchildren. Unfortunately we (the grandparents) were not able to go at the last minute. That didn't keep the kids (all of them) from having a great time at a great location -- right on the beach, close to a playground and close to an ice cream stand. What more could kids ask for, no matter the age.

Beautiful View

The sunset from this house was incredible. We were looking to get away, but also keep working/going to school remotely. The WIFI is excellent and the beach is your breakroom. The porch had very nice views. The house is charming and is very affordable compared to the cost to rent other homes nearby. It could use some repairs, but it still was suitable. The kitchen could use a thorough deep clean, as it was the end of the season.

Lake House Stay

House is in a very old condition. Showers are really tiny, AC in master bed is not working well. Listing says 3 baths but only 2 full bathrooms, and one toilet in kitchen pantry area in a very tiny space. House location is fabulous, right on the lake with a big, covered porch area with nice breeze all the time. We really enjoyed the porch which has the beach view and nice seating. House has all the beach umbrellas and chairs etc.

Historic home with a great location

We had a very nice getaway in this historic victorian home that is filled with character. The location and views from the porch and master bedroom are outstanding. The beach is maybe 100 feet away with a small park that my young daughter loved! The only issue that we had was the condition on the porch railings, which were not safe for our 2 year old. The owner did mention that they are in the process of making repairs to the porch. Karen was very nice and responsive. I would definitely stay here again if repairs were made to the porch.

Great location! Honest Review Ahead!!

There's not enough space for me to write a full review my original review was over the limit. The owner is nice but I found the house to be overwhelming. There's notes, clutter, and the house is just not well maintained. For example, there's mold around the sinks, rotting deck boards, weeds all over, layers of dust and piles of sand under the couch. Our first night was a 99 degree day, it was very hot in the house even with all the ACs going, we ended up driving home the first night. There's no AC in the bottom bedroom- only fans. The 3rd bathroom is literally just a toliet with a note that says not to use toliet paper, maybe 4 square feet. There's notes everywhere, don't do this don't do that. When you check out there's quite the list including; taking out the trash, recycle, wiping down the fridge, washing, drying, and putting away all towels to name a few. This should be in the listing or emailed out before arrival. I would have done things differently. I know this wasn't followed upon our arrival, there was trash, recycle, stuff in the freezer, not a wiped down counter and there was random pieces of trash throughout the house. Plus the cleaner was about 40 minutes late and folding towels. If you're looking for a budget friendly house, this is a good option, but be prepared. In hindsight, I wish I would have brought all my own towels and linens but I would not rent here again. Hell of a view though!

Quick weekend.bday trip. Very windy in Southaven this weekend with cooler Temps upper 50s maybe lower at night. Brought flannel sheets and thicker comforter along with our own plug in oscillating heater. Glad we did! However Karen had some extra heaters there. We did use while sitting in the front living room looking out window enjoying the fantastic view while sipping cocktails! Sleeping was great. Was nice to have cooler air Temps for sleeping. Drove into town enjoyed breakfast and a nice dinner at Maria's..yum! And of course a little shopping for a souvenir. Got some awesome pictures and sunsets this weekend. Canvas worthy. Older cozy home bringing you back in time with that porch and some of the older cottages on the North side. Left you imagining what those "old glory days" must have been like and appreciating the fact that we were one of the ones getting to experience this magnificent view from dear 'ol Lady Serena! God Bless.

Very unique property

Beautiful home with lots of interesting decor. We had a very nice long weekend at the Lady Serena! It was very warm and humid for the beginning of October and the room a/c's were already removed, so the upstairs was hot. Has to move a few of the knicknacks that the two year old thought were toys! The littles loved being right across the street from the awesome playground! Spent a lot of time on the huge porch overlooking North Beach--the view was gorgeous. We watched a storm come across the lake. Left a little early as we had the house cleaned up and it was pouring and didn't want the littles to mess anything up. Thanks for a great weekend Karen!

Relaxing with a view.

The wrap around porch facing Lake Michigan is perfect for relaxing and enjoying the view. A nice breeze off of the lake made the hot days tolerable. The house is over 100 years old, which gives you a feel for vacationing during the early 1900s. We really enjoyed our stay!

A local gem!

This house is gorgeous and a prime location! We had 4 adults and 4 children. There was plenty of room for all. Everything was very clean. We loved all the charming decorations that really helped to tell the history of the house. The location was phenomenal and the kids had an amazing time at the beach. Karen, the owner, was very responsive and easy to work with. She communicated all information on the house very clearly via text. She also was very responsive to any questions I had while staying there. We truly hope we can find availability again because this property was amazing!!

Location location location

The location Of this property is amazing. Steps to the beach. The property manager (Karen) was very responsive and check in/check out was a breeze. The only issue was the cleanliness of the property. Although the house was tidy I feel it could use a deep clean. We traveled with small children and there are a lot of Knick knacks throughout the house so that was a challenge. Overall we did enjoy our stay.

Fantastic home and location

The house was built in 1890, so it had the charm of that era - but it also had all the modern day comforts (t.v.s, appliances etc)! The best part of the house was the wrap around porch where we ate all our meals while watching the parasailers, sailboats, sunsets and even a beach wedding!! One evening the temps were cooler (we were there in Oct), so we sat in the "parlor" in the front of the house and played games but still could see the beach. The house location was perfect as we were able to run across the street to the beach or walk to a coffee shop or small market in the neighborhood. The house was wonderful with a lot of space to relax. We highly recommend!

Beautiful Home In Ideal Location

The house was full of charm, comfort, and history. Lady Serena welcomed our family with open arms. It was heavenly to be able to easily walk to the beach whenever we wanted, or just stay on the porch and watch the sunset from there. The memory of our delightful stay will last a lifetime!
