Solid Ski Weekend House

Loved the house. The trail to ski in and out of was even more difficult than we imagined, however shuttle system is super easy and picks you up right at the house.

Bachelorette weekend

We had a fun get away in snowshoe! The house was beautiful and had a gorgeous view. Laura was easy to communicate with and very helpful! The only issue we ran into was getting into the driveway. When we arrived, the stairs to the house were icy and snowy and the driveway was covered in snow and our cars slid down. We tried to park the cars but could not make it up to the house without the cars sliding down. Laura was quick to put us in contact with the plow person and we got the driveway sorted out. The only feedback I have is it would have been helpful to have the driveway pre-plowed so we could get into the house. We had to drive to a resturant and wait for the plow to come before we could park our cars. Other than the driveway obstacle, the house was lovely!

Great place, misleading listing

While the location and house was beautiful, the listing was very misleading. The driveway and stairs were intentionally left out of all photos. No one who isnt fit could make it up those stairs. There also no ability to ski out to the slopes from the house. The fireplace was broke and never fixed. I have my doubts as to whether it truly only broke recently as we were told or had been broke a while. Two of the heaters didn't work. Worse of all, the heaters were not turned on as they were supposed to. It was below 15 degrees outside upon arrival. It was below 50 inside the entire first night. The house didnt warm up until the sun came out the next day. However, the views from the porch were breathtaking. The house, once warm was cozy and comforting. Its very closely located to the shops and the ski locations. The owner was responsive and did give a partial refund to try make things right.

Rough Start

There were quite a few issues with the property. There is an extensive staircase to enter the house, which should at a minimum be in the pictures because of groups traveling with older adults. I went back and found one review that mentioned them, but I shouldn't have to read a review to find that information. No salt was provided to clear the ice/snow from them so we had to purchase that. The entire house was filled with propane when we arrived. Apparently, the fireplace insert was recently replaced, but the flew was left closed. We opened doors and windows to clear it out, normally not a problem except it was between 20-25 degrees. The carbon monoxide detector wasn't going off, we discovered the battery was installed backwards. The pilot light went out later that night and we started to smell gas again. The fire department had to come verify that we could continue to stay in the house and assist with relighting the pilot. The next day the installers came out and discovered issues with both the fireplace and the outside gas line. The primary heat sources are wall units and base board heaters, and three of the wall units are broken. It took about 10 hours for the house to heat up, but stayed consistently cold. The refrigerator was set to the highest setting and our food started to freeze. There was something sharp in the hot tub that cut open one of the guest’s feet and the controls are unreadable.

Great cabin!

We had a great weekend here! Hot tub was great & we did walk up the hill a few times to get to the Village. HOWEVER, I was surprised at the lack of restaurants open during the weekend. No breakfast options besides Starbucks (closed on Sundays) except at the bottom of the hill (Snowshoe Hare & I wouldn’t go there again). Had great dinners at Foxfire Grill! Would stay here again during “on season” for a different experience!

Perfect location to go from girlfriend to fiancé

Booked this property for my boyfriend, his children, and I for our trip to Cass scenic railway. Left with a fiancé and bonus children. The views are out of this world amazing. The kitchen was well stocked with the essentials and more if you desire to cook while there. The en suite shower was difficult to get hot water, if you turned it to hot it was cold, cold was cold, but if you could find the sweet spot before turning off, you could have warm enough water to shower off. We had issues getting the TV in the bedroom to work, but was not an inconvenience as we were basically only in the bedroom to sleep while there. We arrived after dark and the steps leading to the house were not pre-lit for our arrival and the heat in the house was set to 50. Overall, the stay was wonderful and nothing we encountered caused us any hardahips and we would definitely book this property again! Thank you for sharing your property with us.

Beautiful View

The view from the back deck was beautiful. We were able to bike in and out easily from the neaby western slope (I suspect ski in ski out would also be a breeze during the winter). My family and I enjoyed our stay. Communication with the owner was super easy, and she was very helpful. Thanks Laura!

Perfect Spot for Girls' Weekend

The home was absolutely perfect for our weekend away (four friends in our late 40s). The photos don't do the view or the house justice. We spent most of our time relaxing and chatting on the top deck, though we also appreciated the hot tub on the lower one. Kitchen was well appointed and the beds were comfortable. Bathrooms could use an update but otherwise we wouldn't change a thing. Great communication from the owners - can't wait to return.

We found this piece of Almost Heaven in the middle of Covid 2020 and love coming here in all seasons. We rented through an agency but saw them double fees in the last 3 years and thought we’d rent direct through VRBO. We're a family of 4 with teen kids who now bring their friends. We're avid skiers, hikers, golfers, and found this to be a perfect year round get away.

Why they chose this property

From first tracks in the winter, to golfing, horseback riding, swimming in the summer, to leaf watching in the fall, Snowshoe is amazing. We'll share with you our local favorite watering holes, regional sights, and nearby places to make your stay fit your needs.
