About this property
Beat the Heat in Santa Fe!
a wonderful main house w/ sweet views in every direction, this three-bedroom, 3/5-bathroom property is pretty incredible! The home is located in the high desert with lovely gardens, a little pond, hot tub, and walking paths that meander through cactus and meditative spots. House stays remarkably cool in the summer. There's air conditioning in the 2nd floor primary suite but most nights, you don't even need it.
Three large bedrooms all have comfy king-size beds. Two of the three are "suites" with separate sitting areas and large bathrooms, but the third still has a private bathroom. The living room and kitchen open to an open outdoor patio dining space. The kitchen is also a nice gathering space with big dining table, a large island, nice appliances, and electric fireplace that you can flip on easily (with no carbon footprint). Best of all, enjoy local beer and kombucha from the kegerator right in the kitchen (it truly is pretty awesome). There's an office and a couple of place to work, if you must! House has great wifi, and technology (alexa lights and speakers throughout -- we'll give you a lesson).
This home is light and filled with both quiet and fun gathering spaces. Enjoy several outdoor patio spaces which allows you to enjoy the big skies and views of Santa Fe. Come together in a traditional outdoor Santa Fe Ramada with a fireplace. There's another firepit up the path --- another great place to chill. And definitely spend sunset on the upstairs deck. The property has sweet views to experience amazing sunsets, and starry night skies.
The property has a separate casita (not included in description). While Walt and Laura are likely to be gone most of the time, they may have to "drop in" and stay in the casita. With that, send us a message about potential dates as we come and go a lot with work and family and as long as you don't mind us in the casita for potentially part of your stay, the place is yours. We would keep a low profile, obviously! Contact us if you have questions about that.
The house is only available for 30 day+ rentals. Our community does not allow for shorter-term rentals. Because of the sensitivity with neighbors, absolutely no parties. The city of Santa Fe also requires a 7% lodging tax (sorry!). Our wonderful housekeeper will come every other week while you are there -- that's included.

About the host
Hosted by Laura

Walt and Laura moved to Santa Fe as a pre-retirement plan because it’s a great place to land when we actually are retired! But we’ve got family in CA and grandbabies and more family in New Hampshire so it turns out we’re gone a lot! We were early Airbnb hosts in San Fran 12+ years ago and found the experience of sharing spaces and meeting people a surprising amount of fun.
Why they chose this property
Piedras is a 12 minute ride into downtown Santa Fe. In addition to Santa Fe's well known dining experiences, there are delightful restaurants close by. (Harry's Roadhouse; Cafe Fina; Arable; Santa Fe Brewing El Dorado). The peace and quiet being just a bit away from the Plaza is worth it.
What makes this property unique
The outside space is unique to the desert. Cool shade and lots of outdoor sitting spaces make it fun to be there.
