Relax on the sunny deck, walk along West Cliff Drive and fall asleep at night to the sound of crashing waves. Cowells Surfside is a clean, one- bedroom apartment located two houses from West Cliff, behind a main house and above the detached garage. Surrounded by plants and a garden it has beautiful views of the Monterey Bay, Boardwalk, Santa Cruz Wharf and Santa Cruz Mountains. The apartment has bamboo floors, granite counters and large sunny windows. The living room has a pullout sleeper sofa making space for children or additional guests. There are plenty of linens and towels along with a stocked kitchen. Included with your stay are two beach cruisers, boogie boards and beach chairs. The deck has a working gas grill for outdoor cooking. It’s a perfect get away for a couple of small family.

The apartment gives you walking access to many beaches, great surf spots, the Boardwalk and SC Wharf, wine tasting and shopping. Athletes have been renting here for years to have easy access to triathlons, surf contests and other races. Families love it for the proximity to the Boardwalk and downtown. Travelers return every summer and fall to enjoy the fun and beauty of our town.

We welcome long term renters in the fall and winter months. Please inquire about available dates and rates for monthly rentals.

Had another great visit to Santa Cruz. This property was great. A very comfortable space, fantastic view of the bay, super close to W Cliff Drive for a walk along the ocean. We would definitely stay here again!

Spacious and romantic bungalow.

We had a wonderful stay. The unit is clean, spacious and super comfy! Perfect for a couples getaway. Just a few steps to the ocean and a short walk to the pier and boardwalk. We can’t wait to stay again!

Quiet, private stay right near the ocean

Place was really clean, bed was comfortable, and location was great. It was far enough away from downtown to be quiet but close enough so that we were able to walk to the pier, boardwalk, and downtown. Street parking was easy. 100% recommend.

Great getaway!

Kerry was a fantastic host! Very communicative and friendly, as were her dogs and family :) the apartment was perfect for my stay with my fiancé. Great location right off the bay and so close to many fun activities! The apartment itself was clean and cozy. Loved this little gem!

Perfect Santa Cruz retreat!

We have nothing but wonderful things to stay about our stay here! The location was excellent- view of the ocean, very walkable, private. The property was clean and exactly as described. Kerry had great communication with clear check in/check out instructions and tips for things to do in the area. We absolutely would stay here again and recommend to anyone traveling to the area!

Perfect location

My adult disabled son and I wanted a place near Cowell Beach so we could attend Day on the Beach. This was a perfect location for us to walk to the beach and to the Boardwalk.

Quiet piece of heaven

Our family loves staying here. The place is always very clean and you can’t beat the morning views. Our daughter lives right down the way, so it’s nice to have a place that has everything we need. The owners are wonderful and helpful. Would highly recommend!

Premium location...

Hard to beat this very near West Cliff location. Steps to the shore. Easy walking distance to the Wharf and Boardwalk. All services are close by. The apartment itself is just as pictured. Well designed, built, and maintained. It felt very private and secure. Parking was never an issue for us. We will return. Highly recommended!

Kerry, our host, was very friendly, helpful and responsive! The property was outstanding! It was clean, well furnished, beautifully decorated and in a great location. The bed is super comfy too! Ocean sights and sounds

Perfect home base for walking along West Cliff Drive or to the wharf. Very clean, very comfortable, well appointed unit over the garage, so you have privacy and a view of the ocean. You can hear the ocean and the sea lions with a window open. Great host!
