About this property

Delightful Cottage on the River

Approximate 950 SF two-bedroom/two-bath cottage on the marsh of the Coosaw River. The cottage sleeps 4 with a queen bed in bedroom one and two queen beds in the second bedroom. Both full bathrooms have showers, plus one bathroom has a tub shower combination.
Palm Key is a quiet nature based small community. Its residents enjoy star filled dark nighttime skies, marsh sunrises and sunsets, birding, kayaking, plus the community is full of wildlife.
We recommend time for reading, porch sitting, conversation, and just watching the tides come and go.
While we are a rural community, Savannah, Tybee Island, Hilton Head Island, Beaufort, Hunting Island Park beaches, Charleston and Walterboro art and antiquing are easy day trips.
Small pets may be accepted on a case-by-case basis with a $100/night pet deposit. Pets must be in a kennel when left alone and overnight. Please no pets on the furniture or beds.
The marsh front cottage is a sweet retreat and guest house. We are pleased to share it with travelers and our neighbor's guests. You'll feel the stress melt away upon arrival. Start off the day watching the sun rise over the marsh and be delighted by the wildlife.
The two bedroom, two bath cottage offers sleeping for four - with one queen and two queen beds. The large rear/marsh side covered porch offers comfortable seating, ceiling fans, and a dining area. There's also a dining area just off the porch - a little closer to the waterfront.
Bed linens are provided, as are towels, and a hair dryer in each bathroom. There is a washer, dryer, and drying rack for your use.
The front entrance has easy access with a minimal step up - just steps away from the right side parking area.
The cottage is air conditioned and provides full kitchen. All appliances are new as of July 2023. The kitchen includes coffee makers - a 5 cup Mr. Coffee and Keurig for single cup lovers. There is a smart tv in the living area and in a bedroom (room with two queen beds). WiFi is available for your tv apps.
The cottage is located 7 miles off I-95. Its location is ideal for day trips to Hilton Head Island beaches and shopping, Bluffton, Beaufort, Charleston, Savannah, Tybee Island, Hunting Park Island beach, and Walterboro's antiquing and SC Artisan Center.
The town of Ridgeland is 7 miles away. A small inviting town offering quaint shops and restaurants. Check out Fiddler's Seafood - the restaurant and its seafood market. The fresh seafood market will steam shrimp and lowcountry boil for pickup.
Check in is via the front door code beginning at 4 pm. However, we are glad to accommodate earlier when possible and happy to support your visit in any way we can.
We hope you will enjoy our family's guest house and look forward to your visit.

Wonderful cottage!

We enjoyed our stay in this cute cottage located right on the marsh! It was the perfect size cottage and everything was clean and well kept. The back patio had seating to enjoy the morning sunrise - beautiful! We will definitely consider staying here again.

Absolute Perfection!

First of all, the pictures do not do it justice....it is even more beautiful in person! The surroundings are so quiet and serene you forget you are in a neighborhood. The patio offers spectacular views both morning and night and the accomodations could not be more comfortable. They have literally thought to provide everything you need and communication was thorough and very timely. The location gave us the quiet we wanted while being an easy drive from Beaufort. Would definitely want to stay here again!

OUTSTANDING!!!

I can't say enough positives about this location and the owner. Absolutely beautiful home and location. It was like an elegant day spa! If you are looking for a get away to just relax and possibly kayak or fish, this is definitely the place! It is NOT in a touristy area, you will need to drive a bit to get to a local spot, but it was exactly what we needed.

I have been in the business of renting out homes for forty years. This is my first experience with VRBO. I approach it with the same mindset of providing a good “product” and by being attentive to my guests needs.

Why they chose this property

Why I chose this property
When I came to this place for a kayak trip, I had absolutely no intention of buying a cottage here. But the beauty of the Low Country location and the kindness of the community worked its charm on me and I ended up buying this beautiful retreat. The community of homes is very unique – private, quiet, surrounded by nature. Yet take a short drive and you are in the interesting town of Beaufort. A 45 minute drive and you can see the splendors of Savanna, Georgia or the amazing beaches of Hilton Head. A longer excursion of an hour and a half drive lands you in historic Charleston. But why leave here? Hang out on the porch - read and relax. Did I mention that the kayaking is awesome? And the birding, which you can experience from just off the porch, is wonderful.
