Bayfield Village - Vader Cottage - Ontario

The Vader Cottage is a chalet style winterized cottage nestled on a very private treed lot in the Village of Bayfield. Located within walking distance of the historic Bayfield shopping district and Lake Huron beaches, fine dining, flea markets and beautiful sunsets are all readily available. The cottage is located within easy walking distance of all the Village attractions and is situated on a dead-end residential street near the south end of town. Well appointed with three bedrooms and recently renovated kitchen and baths, the cottage is also equipped with a natural gas barbecue, washer/dryer, wifi internet access and a fire pit (wood provided). The open concept recreation room with vaulted ceilings has a gas fireplace, TV and DVD player. The kitchen is fully stocked with fridge, microwave, gas stove, Keurig coffee maker and all the necessities needed to prepare your meals at home. Central air conditioning will keep you cool during the hot summer months. The large front deck comes equipped with a full size picnic table and plenty of chairs for relaxing and enjoying the quiet atmosphere. Parking is available for three vehicles in the drive. A wagon and other children's accessories are available (high chair) upon request as well as board games, videos, books and puzzles. The beach is a short 10 minute walk from the cottage as are other Bayfield Village amenities such as award-winning restaurants, children's playground and splash pad in Clan Gregor Square, and numerous gift shops to satisfy all your shopping needs. The cottage water supply is provided by the Municipality and is the same water source as the City of London. Bayfield is trying to reduce it's use of bottled water so be assured that the water supply is safe.
Visit the historic Bayfield downtown shopping district to enjoy fine dining at one of our award winning resturants or browse the many gift shops that grace the downtown. Located only 10 minutes from the cottage, the Village also boasts a flea market on Sundays, a grocery store, LCBO and harbour with boat launch. At least 5 golf courses are located within a 15 minute drive of the cottage or, if golfing is not your thing, try your hand at fishing in either the Bayfield or Maitland Rivers.

Lovely rental

This was our second time staying at the Vader cottage and once again, we enjoyed every moment of it. The property is clean, inviting and conveniently located to great restaurants, shops and the water. A true gem in beautiful Bayfield!

Lovely cottage with all the amenities that made us feel right at home. We loved the location - we walked to Main Street several times which we enjoyed thoroughly. The trampoline and backyard games were a hit with our 12-year old. Kelly was responsive and helpful. We’ll certainly return!

Nicely located short bike ride or medium walk from beaches, parks, downtown. Great layout with lovely yard and deck. Odd smell from the furnace room was a bit of a bother. Would stay here again if it were more affordable.

An awesome retreat

My friends and I enjoyed our stay here very much. Our hosts were very helpful and hospitable. The place was cozy and comfortable. Bayfield is a beautiful town with many shops, and restaurants. We definitely would stay here again.

What a wonderful stay at Vader Cottage! This well appointed cottage is cozy and inviting with all the amenities needed. Set behind tall pines and conifers, it is a private and quiet place to relax and take in the lake breeze. We hope to stay again!

Tranquil property located within minutes of the quaint town of Bayfield

My wife and I have just spent a wonderful 3 days at Kelly’s property and everything was as we’d hoped. The property was spotless and we loved the fact we were in a secluded spot yet Bayfield’s Main Street was just a 5 minute walk away as were numerous beaches. There were lovely places in Bayfield itself to eat and drink and we also enjoyed the short trip up to Goderich.

Best cottage stay this summer

Greatest cottage! We have been in a few places this summer, but this cottage was hands down the best. Great location, close to all amenities and lake. Perfect setting surrounded by mature trees giving no only privacy but excellent for relaxation. There were four of us and our precious little 1 year old granddaughter and of course our two four legged companions, who also had a great time. The cottage is everything that’s advertised and couldn’t ask for better hosts. We are really looking forward to more stays in the future.

beautiful Bayfield

The house is centrally located in Bayfield along the shores of Lake Huron. It is a beautiful, quiet, tree lined street amidst many similar streets. The cottage was perfect for our needs and, while not large, it is nicely designed with two good bathrooms and three bedrooms. Two of the bedrooms are upstairs so there is good separation giving the feeling of more space. Added features include the great front deck and bbq as well as the good sized trampoline and basketball net in the backyard. We would definitely like to return to this cottage.

Great getaway at The Vader Cottage

Vader cottage met all of our expectations in every way. Extremely clean cottage. Two bathrooms and three bedrooms was perfect for myself and my two friends. The livingroom was very comfortable and we enjoyed having a lovely private back yard garden area to enjoy a glass of wine by the fire. The owners live right next door to the cottage. I did not receive an email with check in information just prior to our stay as I normally have with VRBO rental properties, but thankfully I was able to connect with Kelly Vader via text message and phone on the day of our arrival. I would feel comfortable recommending this property to anyone looking for a safe, clean, comfortable cottage. I would definitely rebook Vader Cottage the next time I am in the area.

Building memories with Grandbaby

This was an ideal cottage in terms of roominess, location, and communicating with Kelly the owner. We are four adults and our eight month old granddaughter. And we take up a lot of room with all our gear. The main floor bedroom had room for the pacnplay that the baby slept in. The beaches are easy to get to in Bayfield from the cottage (beach shoes are a must because of rocky beaches).We drove because we had so much baby stuff but I’m sure you could walk. And you can walk to the main streets. The washing machine was a plus, again because of the baby. The two decks surrounded by trees are private and comfortable. This was like a home away from home but was still a cottage experience to build wonderful family memories.

Our names are Rob and Kelly Vader and we live right next door to the cottage. We have owned the property since 1992 and have been renting it out as a vacation rental property since 1996. We love meeting new people and have made many lifelong friends from the cottagers who visit us on an annual basis.

We live and work in the Bayfield area and have raised our three children here. We love the quiet atmosphere of the community and know you will love it too once you have stayed here. We have slowly been upgrading the cottage over the years to make it more inviting for renters. We added a rear yard patio in 2017 and a new downstairs bathroom and shower in 2018.

Living next door makes is convenient for us to respond to any concerns from renters and address any issues that might arise.

A beautiful chalet-style cottage located right next door to our own property seemed like an opportunity that was too good to miss.

What makes this property unique

The cottage is on Stark Street which is a dead-end street at the south end of Bayfield. Stark is one of the nicest streets in the village with a good mix of full time and seasonal properties. The cottage is very private with mature pine trees around the perimeter and large cedars screening the deck from the road as well as from neighbours.
