About this property

Watauga's End Farm. Riverside Getaway in East TN

This is just a great place to take advantage of the races and the river.
We enjoyed restoring the farm and house to make a scenic countryside vacation spot. We stripped down the house and were able to save the old pine floors and ceilings as well as some nostalgia some ancient metal shingles. We made some unique furniture out of barn wood and used luthier grade curly maple to make the kitchen cabinets.The plumbing is indoor and modern and the beds and linens are new.
The main level upstairs has 2 bedrooms-- a queen and a daybed with 2 twins, as well as a bath with an extra sink outside. The living room has a sleeper sofa and the small kitchen is on this level.
Downstairs has a King bedroom and a bunkroom along with a family area, laundry and bathroom. There are decks and access to take in the river and this is a great place to finish your float trip. You can pull out your boat or have your guide drop you off right where you are staying since this is the end of the river.
Our farm is where Watauga river becomes Boone lake and is on the edge of Johnson City so you are just minutes from the mall, cinemas and restaurants. It is a quick jump onto the Bristol Highway and you are 12 miles and less than 20 minutes from the race track.

Thanksgiving at the Wataugua

Perfect location and home for a family. Two bedrooms and sitting area on bottom floor were like a separate suite from upstairs. Surrounded by working farm meant that the kids loved seeing the horse, donkeys, and cows. River location is lovely. Room for 4 at kitchen table was a bit limiting for a large family, but kitchen was extremely well stocked. Lovely host was so responsive.

A charming and well-appointed farmhouse in a spectacular riverfront location. Views of cliffs and pastures but not neighbors. Quick, helpful responses from hosts on a minor issue.

Perfect getaway

This house was perfect for our family. We came from NC and PA for a volleyball tournament. Wish we would have got to spend more time at the property and exploring the city.

Great place

Beautiful property. Away from town and very quiet. Really enjoyed the house and the views. The hosts have done a great job with this place and I’d recommend it to anyone wanting a quiet getaway.

Homey, peaceful

Quiet, peaceful, homey feeling with excellent walking/hiking areas. The lovely wrap-a-round porch provided a wonderful sitting area for visiting. The pastoral view was delightful, with fishing /picnic area just a few steps from the door. It delighted all of us to see the white tailed deer with their fawns as well as the farm animals nearbt.

Beautiful farm with stunning scenary

We had the most amazing stay on this truly stunning property. It was heaven for my teens and dog, with plenty of room for everyone to run around or relax on the porch. The house was perfect with plenty of room, and all of the beds were comfortable. We found the kitchen had everything we needed for meals. This is a must-stay. We didn’t want to leave!

wonderful home

This was the most magical little farm cabin. We truly loved staying here. very spacious, clean, and watching the animals come down each morning became a true joy for our whole family. We recently relocated to the area and this was in close proximity to local amenities and restaurants but far enough out that we got to enjoy the serenity of the mountains and bubbling wautoga river! We will be recommending our family to stay here when they come to visit! We are so grateful for this house and its owners!

An excellent alternative to 2 hotel rooms, our group of 4 adults was very comfortable. Clean, excellent mattresses, great kitchen, scenic location not far from town. Hope to be back in the future!

Fantastic Race Weekend!

What a magical property. The drive in on their private road set the tone for what lied ahead. Beyond peaceful setting with friendly hosts. The river was serene and my kids loved the farm animals. Kim and James we beyond accommodating in letting our kids tour the bard and feed the horses, chickens and peacocks. Home was very comfortable with nice TVs and a suitable kitchen. Would not hesitate to book with them again. Memorable experience.

Farmhouse

This property was perfect for our weekend stay. House was clean and well stocked. Perfect size for a family get away with plenty of space for everyone. Owners very helpful when we had trouble locating the property since as the listing states, GPS has difficulty locating the property. House is located on a working farm. Granddaughters were thrilled with the cows, horses, donkeys and goats.

Great place!

This place is a little slice of heaven. Lots of space and it’s on the river. We saw ducks, geese, pileated woodpeckers, horses, donkeys, Guinea fowl, peacocks… Nice large deck with a gas grill and fire pit downstairs. Will definitely stay here again.

Fishing Trip with Clients

2nd year in a row staying here. Property is as described and has ample room for 6 adult males if you utilize the pullout and couch. Love the privacy and feel of this location and the river is only steps away although we fish with guides on a different river. Owners are always very nice and check in process is very easy.

Very Nice Accomodations

This location was excellent for our get-together with my brother and his wife. Very well tended property right by the river. Loved the view of the river and the mountains. We saw their cows, horses, and donkey. The owner came to introduce himself and ask if we planned to grill outside. When we said yes, he asked if the men would help him unload a brand new grill and load up the old one. So nice! One thing we didn't care for was their 2 large dogs running up on the deck while we were outside grilling. We were uncertain about their nature and didn't want them up there around our food. They left rather quickly but it was still something that we found undesirable. The owner and his grandchildren also came to the barn/garage beside the rental to get their dirtbikes. Not a huge problem but interfered with our privacy. Overall, we loved the well-tended house and all the amenities! Highly recommend this rental for anyone coming to the area.

Great fishing get away!

River Paradise

Wow! We came to TN for a family reunion and stayed at this property on the river, but we could easily see ourselves coming back to TN just to relax at this getaway. It’s so quiet, peaceful, and beautiful. The owners made the check-in/out so easy. The house was clean with lots of room for our big family. I’d say it was better than advertised. We loved it!
