The Sunset Cottage has everything you need to relax & unwind. Fully-stocked kitchen, two living spaces, an office, indoor & outdoor dining, beautiful lake views, and multiple outdoor spaces including a dock.

Note: This older home doesn't not have an interior staircase that allows access to the levels. To enter the lower living & laundry rooms, you will need to walk outside of the house.

SMOKE-FREE vacation rental.

This lake front home is perfect for a family or couples looking to reconnect with each other while having access to the lake and various outdoor activities. The cottage was built in the 60's, however it was fully renovated in November 2022.

Before you get lost in the descriptions below, the cottage comes with some EXTRAS amenities for you to use during your stay.

FIRST, you have four kayaks available. They are located in a lock storage room close to the dock. SECOND, we supply a fire pit with camp chairs for you to roast s'mores by the lake in the evenings.

Now, let's get back to the description of the cottage rooms....
The main floor of the cottage has the bedrooms, kitchen, dining room, living room and the screened-in outdoor porch.

Both bedrooms include a queen bed with bedsheets, closet, drawers for clothes, closet rod for hanging clothes and nightstands with drawers. The shared full bathroom is located between the two bedrooms. All bath towels and washcloths are supplied.

The living room has a sofa, chair, storage ottoman with kids activities, and a 60” wifi TV.

The kitchen has a stove/oven combo, microwave, dishwasher and refrigerator. There is a small, movable kitchen island for added preparation space. We have you covered with a drip-coffee maker as well. You will definitely want to enjoy your morning coffee on the outdoor porch.

The dining room features a counter height table with six chairs. The area behind the sofa and next to the dining room has a twin daybed with a twin trundle. Extra pillows and blankets are found in the bedrooms. This sleeping area is not private and shares the full bathroom with the other guests. This sleeping area is ideal for kids.

As you walk through the sliding glass doors, you have the beautiful view of Lake Santeetlah. On this screened-in porch, you can relax on the sectional sofa or have your meals at the second dining table.

To enter the basement level of the home, you have to walk outside the cottage. This older home DOES NOT have a interior staircase. There are no sleeping areas in the basement. The laundry, office and a second entertaining space with another 60” TV. PLUS, there is a second porch where you can sit back and admire the view.

The dock is steps away from the cottage. If you bring your own boat, you can tie up on the dock. You will not be able to bring the boat trailer to the property. You will need to leave that at the boat launch.

Lovely mountain family getaway

Lovely home! Our family enjoyed the comfort of the home. Only issue is the basement area seemed to have drainage issues and the carpet was wet in some areas and smelled moldy. I’m not that picky and I understand the challenges of drainage in the mountains so I’ll be generous on the rating. If someone has respiratory issues that could be a problem for the property owner. I would remediate immediately because that is a liability.

End of summer trip

The dock gets all day sunlight, until around 7:30. Kayaked around, cooked food and drank, that was all the wife and i wanted, but we got a very comfort home to stay in and that's a big plus, would love to rent it again next year.

Lake house

We checked in Thursday and stayed through Sunday. The place is very nice. The screened porch was relaxing in the heat of the day. The dock allowed for me to keep my boat close. The setting is peaceful. We will definitely want to stay here again.

Lovely Lake Stay

Simple lake life, older home but renovated with everything you need to enjoy the relaxing atmosphere. Pristine water and well kept dock. We swam and ventured out in the kayaks. Read and ate meals on the screened in porch and watched the clouds dance on the water. Great house for a small group. Definitely contact Jared at Smoky Mountain Kayak Fishing. Went on a sunset fishing cruise and it was gorgeous. Don’t miss Roger at Pineapple Whips!

Stunning

I can't remember a more relaxing week. If you can pull yourself away from the view, there are great hikes in the area, and we loved the waterside dining at the Tapoco Tavern so much that we went back for dinner. The kitchen at this property did not succumb to the common rental problem of too many cast offs from the owner's kitchen crowding the cabinets, with plenty of room to store groceries and well organized kitchen tools. Beds are comfy, hot water nearly instant and plentiful, water pressure excellent. Figure out how to work the high tech thermostat, and realize that it needs to be reset every 24 hours, or it goes back to it's settings. The owners have left the manual for you. We took the kayaks for a 6 hour paddle out to the dam. They are sit on top kayaks, so consider bringing an old towel to put over your legs if you are looking to do long floats. Could go fishing at a moments notice, when the lake starts boiling with fish, and be sure to bring a float so you can simply relax in the water. Internet is somewhat spotty, given the rural location, and we had issues with our Verizon cell service. I would not want to be working from here, not that I would be disciplined enough to do so. Spent most of our "indoor" time on the screened in porch. We will be back, but probably with our own kayaks this time, so that we can drive to other put ins and explore more of the lake. Thank you so much for sharing this stunning property with us!!!
