Our 2022-23 Blue Holiday Tree to brighten dark nights. We'll keep it as long as it's fresh, probably through January
During lockdowns, we got busy updating the chalet in nature-inspired copper, blue, and crema marfil marble. The new decor evokes pristine lakes, crystal rivers, and rugged canyons. Natural woodwork in honey, cherry, and walnut complete the look.

About this property

Treehouse Chalet 3/2 A/C King +Option 2Add Pet/Spa

Wake up among the soaring pines in fresh mountain air and get ready for your next Tahoe adventure! Relax in soothing hues of copper and blue inside the home, complementing glorious nature outdoors. Serene and quiet. This is your perfect base camp for everything Truckee Tahoe has to offer. (Due to owner injury, we will not be having a holiday tree for the 2023-24 ski season)

You are renting the top two floors of a beautifully updated, rustic “Treehouse” Chalet in Tahoe Donner. Nestled among towering pines and set back from the street, our cabin is secluded yet close to everything. This serene and spacious property spans nearly half an acre and offers season views into gardens or snowy forests.

We offer guest pass access to Tahoe Donner amenities ranging from the Rec Center, skiing, sledding, hiking, biking, tennis, golf, horseback riding, and much more.

Highlights:

- Great location in Tahoe Donner, off the beaten path yet close to everything – 12 miles to Sugar Bowl, 14 miles to Palisades, 13 miles to Northstar

- Well maintained and spacious property is set back from a quiet residential street with green belt behind for true nature serenity. Nearly half an acre gives more privacy than most homes and a feeling of seclusion

- Managed by a responsive owner - ask questions at any time - you are not troubling us we want you to have a great stay!

- Unlike many Tahoe properties, we keep everything clean and in working order. We can’t guarantee that nothing will break but it is rare.

- Private entrance with bench for removing shoes and coat rack for outerwear, light backpacks, and hats

- The rented space includes 2 full floors of our rustic chalet - the entire original home. There are no shared spaces inside the home. Driveway and exterior spaces may be shared. If you rent the hot tub (added fee after booking), you will have exclusive use of it during your stay.

- Enjoy soothing views from your birdseye perch into the forest and the secret gardens we are creating on the property.

- Access to Tahoe Donner amenities via 2 guest passes (4 people accommodated per pass - see TD’s website for details about access and guest fees)

- Super convenient walking distance 0.75 miles to Z marketplace and Deli for coffee, snacks, sandwiches and sundries

- also walking distance 0.75 miles to the Lodge bar and restaurant, golf course, and the Trout Creek Recreation Center, pools, and gym

- Minutes from historic Truckee, grocery stores, Donner Lake, and many other world class attractions

- About 20-30 minutes away from gorgeous Lake Tahoe - though driving time depends on traffic

- A/C in summer - a rare and important feature in often sun-baked and sweltering Tahoe homes

- Ceiling fans and MERV-13 air filter to give a cooling breeze and filter out smoke and pollutants from wildfires etc

- Blackout shades in bedrooms so you can sleep

- 3 bedrooms convenient for families and groups - 1 king, 1 queen, 1 bunk bed and 1 trundle bed (4 twins altogether in one room). The king is a traditional coil mattress. The queen is a nearly new firm memory foam mattress.

- Closets and dressers for clothing storage in all 3 bedrooms

- 2 bathrooms: #1 ensuite upstairs with large soaking tub and shower, #2 on the main floor with smaller bathtub and shower

- Recently updated bathrooms with vanilla marble and slate floors. Updated kitchenette with crema marfil marble, copper sink, and bamboo flooring. Soothing hues of copper and blue bring the beauty of nature indoors.

- Spacious and popular open floor plan for easy socializing

- TAKE A BREAK FROM COOKING! Kitchenette for simple fare includes full size refrigerator and freezer, microwave, coffee maker, dishwasher, and sink. Basic dishes and flatware are provided. NO oven/stove, NO pots/pans, and outside cooking devices are NOT permitted.

- Ala carte add-ons - on a trial basis, we will allow people to use oven/stove and rudimentary cookware for $250+tax added fee (collected AFTER booking). This requires an increased security deposit (to $999 total) and kitchen must be left clean, without strong odors, and without damage or we will charge for excess cleaning and damage.

- Also on a trial basis, we will allow an add-on of BBQ grill for $199+tax. BBQ grill must be left clean (scraped and without excessive debris). This option requires an increased security deposit of $999. Any excess cleaning or damage to grill or prep areas will be charged to guest.

- Also on trial basis, guests may bring a slow cooker type device with lid - to be operated either on the kitchen table with tablecloth underneath or on the cutting board that covers the range. Open burners NOT allowed and lid must be kept on during cooking. Device may not be left unattended. Kitchen must be kept clean/undamaged and odors must be kept to a minimum or additional cleaning/repair/deodorization fees will be charged at our discretion. Ask me anything before booking.

- Dining area has dining table with 6 chairs and 2 additional seats at the bar counter facing the kitchenette

- Our adjoining great room offers leather couch and love seat, large coffee table, and flat screen TV.

- Open air loft with (basic nothing fancy) piano, loveseat, and leather arm chair

- Two "work from home" spaces: #1 in the bunk room is a small table and chair with a small table lamp (this room has a door that closes though it also doubles of course as a bedroom), #2 is the two bar stools at the kitchen counter with convenient USB charger.

- 2 large screen TVs: #1 on the main floor in the great room, #2 in the upstairs master suite

- We can give suggestions on where to go out to eat, takeout, groceries, etc. Z Market Deli and Lodge are less than a mile away. Grab a night cap at the Lodge rustic bar. Bring pre-prepared meals and ENJOY your vacation.

- NO washer/dryer. There is a laundromat a few miles from the house.

- Summer only: Lovely front deck to enjoy the gorgeous forest setting - outdoor furniture for 4. Folding chairs in a bedroom closet for expansion seating.

- Free off street parking on flat driveway for 2 cars. We can usually add a 3rd car for a $99 + tax added fee. All parking instructions must be followed. Please do not be the person who complains when asked to move a vehicle that is blocking access.

Some of our pricing is now ALA CARTE. That means these amenities are NOT included in the base rate but can be added on when available:

1. PETS: If you book with a pet, the pet fee is already included in your room rate. If you want to bring a pet after not booking with a pet, we add a $999 fee. 2 pre-approved and pre-paid pets maximum. Pets must be house trained - unfortunately, we've found that many "well behaved" pets are not. Please read our pet policy about charges for excess cleaning or damage.

2. HOT TUB: For the ultimate in relaxation among the towering pines and firs. Tub may be used as a dipping pool at 80 degrees to cool off in summer - or as a traditional hot tub up to 104 degrees. And unlike many area spas, we keep it clean. No hot tub use after 10 pm. Loud/boisterous behavior is not permitted at any time. Added fee of $499 + tax

3. PARKING: Driveway parking for a 3rd car - added fee of $99 + tax if available. All parking instructions must be followed carefully.

4. Oven/stove and/or BBQ grill - see above for terms

5. Up to 6 Tahoe Donner guest cards to access and/or get discounts at the resort amenities for $75+tax (must let us know in advance if you wish to use these to give time for activation). Amenities are not guaranteed and are subject to all terms on the Tahoe Donner (dot) com website.

PLEASE NOTE: Hot tub is "private" ONLY in the sense that nobody else will use it during your stay. Spa is under 24/7 video surveillance for rule enforcement. It is visible by several of our neighbors and from the downstairs unit on the property. The backyard where the spa is located is a SHARED space. THERE IS ZERO EXPECTATION OF PRIVACY AT THE SPA. The owner or other workers may be seen near the spa or elsewhere in the shared outdoor spaces at any time.

This is the perfect location to access everything Tahoe has to offer. As noted below, we intend it as a cozy, quiet base camp for access to SO many world class attractions. The property is great for restful sleep, quiet enjoyment of the forest, sharing simple meals, watching TV or playing cards, peaceful use of the hot tub for relaxation - and any other activity with normal conversational noise.

Tahoe's "party days" are over, my friends. We ask that ALL loud or boisterous activity be taken away off the property. Our neighbors will file complaints - and guests will be required to pay any fines. There are so many places to play in Tahoe - beaches, lakes, rivers, biking and hiking trails, ski resorts, sledding hills, parks, golf courses, rec centers, bars and restaurants. Let's keep vacation rentals legal by keeping high energy or loud activities OUT of residential neighborhoods.

The home is curated to include most of the basics while maintaining simplicity. It is a fantastic space for relaxing among the trees between your Tahoe adventures.

CLEAN: We feature cleanliness because the owner has been doing vacation rentals here for 18 years. If owner is on premises in the separate unit, house is carefully inspected prior to any guest stay. Owner is familiar with the work of many cleaning, hot tub, and property management companies in the area and can confidently say this property is much cleaner and better maintained than most. Amenities have also been simplified to ensure that high standard. Please note this is still a "best efforts" standard and not an invitation for nit pickers :)

Access to the house is by keypad (self check-in). Code will not be given to guest until checkin time on checkin day. Please do not arrive to the property before your appointed checkin time. Early che
