Magical property!

This home sits on a stunning piece of property across the street from the harbor. The inside is charming, comfortable and homey. We also rented the cottage on the back on the property. Just as wonderful. We didn't lack for anything. Communication with the owners was wonderful! We hope to have an opportunity to rent again some time in the future!

Quintessential Cape Cod Home

This home is wonderful with a vast lawn and lovely gardens throughout the property. The location close to the village and beaches is great. The large main house and cottage are well appointed with modern amenities while maintaining the charm characteristic of a quintessential Cape Cod home. Our family of 14 found the property delightful and a comfortable fit for our large group. The hosts were very responsive to our needs and communication was great! I would highly recommend this property for a multigenerational family vacation.

This is a terrific house. Large and spacious. Easily accommodated our 16 family members.

We loved the house and it’s close proximity to my son’s wedding venue at Wychmere Beach club. The house is spacious and allowed our large family to be together for 4 days during wedding activities. We would highly recommend this home… owner was very hands on… available whenever we needed her… terrific property and owner.

Beautiful Home!

We had such a wonderful stay at the Stepping Stones house. It was great to have 14 of us under one roof. There was plenty of space for all of us. Everything was within walking distance. Thank you Marylynn for making our week so pleasurable.

Beautifully maintained home with spectacular grounds and harbor view.

Plenty of space for group gatherings, yet areas for quite solitude. Our family of ten enjoyed this property centrally located on the Cape that provides easy access to everything we covered from Provincetown to Martha's Vineyard. Hope one day to return with grandchildren added, since two of our children were expecting on the trip. Thanks to the Clunes for sharing your beautiful home.

Beautiful rental - great for families!

My family recently rented Stepping Stones and Pebbles for a week and had a wonderful experience - highly recommend renting this beautiful property! Perfect rental for a larger group, plenty of space to gather together while also offering lots of privacy with bedrooms and bathrooms. The house comes equipped with everything you would need for your stay - grill, fire pit, outdoor furniture, beach chairs, coolers, bikes… David and Marylynn were responsive and helped answer any question I had, very easy to work with! My family had the best week spending time together creating memories! Thank you for letting us rent your beautiful home!

Beautiful home in a perfect location!

The house is beautiful and extremely comfortable for a big group of friends (15 people). Marlynn was responsive to any questions we had about the house and was kind enough to let us use the beach chairs/coolers/bikes in her garage. The location is also perfect: right in the middle of town and an easy 10 minute walk to the beach. The property has a great lawn for outdoor games and activities and has a great kitchen perfect for cooking for a large group.

Perfection!

We rented the main house and Pebbles for our wedding party over our wedding weekend (Wychmere). It could not have been a more perfect location and house. Everyone had their personal space, but we could all be together to celebrate. The owners were prompt, very nice and easy to work with.

Family Reunion and Birthday Celebration

The house was large with plenty of room.. We liked the fact the bedrooms were separated into different areas of the house. Gave plenty for all to spread out. The property was secluded and quiet. Beach was a short walk. Harwichport was a quaint town with good restaurants. Pebbles was adorable and loved the outdoor shower and bathtub.

Stepping Stones

This property was beautiful. The home contains everything you need for a vacation in Cape Cod. The grounds are gorgeous. There are numerous sitting areas both outside and in which enable quiet contemplation, group conversation, and extensive play area for children. The harbor is right across the street providing a beautiful view. The kitchen is extremely well stocked with cookware, silverware, dishes, serving dishes, glassware, and necessary appliances. We were a family of 15 and were able to sit very comfortably at long dining tables both inside and outside on the patio. The home is within walking distance of town, several restaurants, and the beach (maybe 15 minutes to the beach). The owners could not have been any more accommodating and were readily available. Communication was particularly good and personal. The beds were comfortable, as was all of the furniture and the house is very open and inviting. We would certainly return.

Fabulous Vacation!

Our family just had its most memorable and fun-filled Cape Cod vacation ever at the gorgeous "Stepping Stones"! Three generations enjoyed the wide green lawns that were perfect for family ball games, the exceptionally well-appointed kitchen where gourmet "treats" were created, and the large indoor and outdoor dining areas that were perfect for family meals and impromptu get-togethers. We loved the nearby beaches and the wonderful view of Cape Cod's most picturesque harbor. There were so many spacious rooms - all comfortable and beautifully decorated. It is in such a great location for our favorite Cape acivities. This idyllic home and grounds exceeded our expectations in every way!

Great for our family get together

Tons of space and gorgeous yard. Had plenty of linens and living room is amzingly cozy and warm. An easy walk to the beach and eating breakfast in the front yard watching the sunrise over the harbor was breath taking. We walked for ice cream down the street each night and had the delicious melataways at Bonatts bakery every morning and had dinner once at Brax about 500 yards from the house. Cannot think of anything else you would need. The kitchen was huge and there is a back patio with a grill and a table for atleast 12 people...so much fun. Coming back next year.

Great long weekend on the Cape!

We took advantage of a nice long fall weekend on the Cape. 4 couples with 2 small children and we had plenty of space to play in and outside the house. The kitchen area is fantastic for accommodating big groups helping out with meals, etc. Really do not need to use your car much once you arrive, walking distance to most places (restaurants, shops, etc.). The property is great with tons of outdoor space to explore. Everything worked perfectly and was very self explanatory. Very friendly town. Great 9 hole course to play, beautiful beach 5 to 10 minute walk away. We all had a great time and would highly recommend this house. Thanks again for such a great weekend!

Take Stepping Stones to a Perfect Wedding!

My daughter was just married last weekend at Wychmere Beach Club and we stayed at Stepping Stones. It was one of many great decisions we made for the wedding. The house is gorgeous--large, very unique, homey, beautifully finished with modern amenities, in an ideal location and perfect for large or extended families. We had another family stay with us totaling 14 adults but we could have easily fit more. It served as the home base for many of the events surrounding the extended weekend and it was just so convenient being literally down the street from the venue. Perfect spot for taking pictures of the bridal party the morning of the wedding and to meet up after to enjoy the celebration. The owner Marilynn was very attentive to our needs and made the house extremely welcoming for us. Was a perfect compliment to a perfect wedding, highly highly recommended.

Wedding guest retreat

Located directly across from Wychmere Harbor, this home was the perfect place to house guests attending our daughter's wedding. Our extended family, which included young children enjoyed a comfortable stay amidst lovely surroundings. There were high chairs, a crib and child's bed as well as toys for the little ones! The cottage behind the main house served as a quiet place for the bride's parents. It, too, was beautifully decorated and a much appreciated oasis of peace amidst all of the wedding excitement. The owner was most accommodating and very clear about not wanted a bridal party to stay in the main house. I couldn't agree more. This house is most suitable for families like ours who so enjoyed having together time while having their own spaces for sleeping. The outside grounds provide plenty of space for the children to safely play and there are many outdoor seating and eating options. The house is withing walking distance to Merkel Beach and the little town of Harwich Port. If you choose this property for your family gathering, you won't be disappointed!

Lovely home, but difficult owner

We rented Stepping Stones for a family reunion July 30 to Aug 6. There were to be 28 persons - our entire immediate family, to which the owner agreed. A number of those coming were small children, so we anticipated making do with some extra bedding which worked well. The house is well appointed and the grounds are lovely. It is easy to get to the beach and access to the rail trail section to Chatham is close. In addition to the rent, Mrs. Clune requires a sizeable damage deposit which we paid well in advance, as well as a significant cleaning fee. The problem with Stepping Stones is the owner who is unpredictable and unreliable. She initially withheld our entire damage deposit, claiming that we had more than 28 people staying during the week and that we had more than 100 at a party on our last night. The party had been planned with Mrs. Clune's knowledge and help. We never had more than our family staying and the number of guests who came to the party were 30 exactly which is what we had told her. After our protests she returned half of the damage deposit without ever documenting actual damage or repair expenses. She did claim her charge was justified for things like cleaning and linen that rightfully should have been covered by the rent and cleaning charge. She spent a day at Stepping Stones on about the fourth day of the rental and never at any time attempted to clear up misunderstanding or misapprehension. The impression is that she anticipated retaining the damage deposit in any event. Prospective renters need to know they may face unanticipated charges or even asked to leave on inaccurate, unsubstantiated accusations.

A charming home

A charming home for sure. We enjoyed our stay very much. If you like old design this is the house for you. Cedar siding and roof, copper flashing, its adorable. The home's common spaces are large, great for large family gatherings especially the large dining room table. There were 15 of us in the main house, and 2 more in the cottage next door and we all fit very comfortably. Some of the bedrooms are small but just fine for sleeping. The grounds of the home are beautiful. The front yard is huge, with a view of the quintessential New England harbor just across the street. The back/side yard is very private, surrounded by trees and plants with a big table and chairs for everyone to sit around and enjoy. They have a large barbeque as well, so it’s the perfect spot for family to be together and enjoy a meal outdoors. We also took advantage of the firepit at night which was a lovely way to end a summer day. Not all bedrooms have their own bath and a couple weren’t in the best of shape. Some had no locks on doors or exhaust fans. The house was certainly walking distance to the quaint downtown but traffic on the roadway in front is very heavy during the day. You cannot drive and park at the nearest beach (Merkel Beach) as no parking is available to the public. You must walk 10 minutes but note that there are no sidewalks. The traffic on Snowy Inn Road is light however. There are other beaches a short drive away with parking available at a cost. It's much too far to carry a paddleboard or kayaks to Merkel unless you’re very fit and want to risk the traffic. Note that there is no functioning trailer to carry the kayaks or paddle boards. The bicycles are in some disrepair, and we couldn’t find a bicycle pump so I wouldn’t count on those. The house has some maintenance issues here and there, such as leaking shower, damage from roof leak in kitchen, broken icemaker on main fridge, loose tables, outdoor chairs with no cushions. We recognize that COVID has made finding people to help clean and maintain the home is likely a major factor. Despite some disappointments with little details at this price point, we had a great time, and the owners were absolutely lovely to deal with.

Simply amazing

We had the best family reunion here. Everything was what we needed and well attended to! Living area, dining room and sunroom are far more spacious than the pictures show. Hosts were great and even let me take a look around the property early. Kitchen has everything you could possibly need. Highly recommend a local fishing charter. We pulled in 25 sea bass and ate fish tacos for days!

We are blessed with nine grandchildren and they are the best!! Everyone does their fair share to help in managing our mini estate which is run as a family business.

Why they chose this property

We purchased Stepping Stones in 2011 because of its charm, location and amenities.
Our hope is that you have a wonderful time at Stepping Stones and return home refreshed, renewed and filled with peace and love and wish you the best of all that is good.

What makes this property unique

Stepping Stones has many nooks and cranies; three separate patios, enough for everyone to have space to read, think, rest and nap. The yard lends itself to personal time or meditation.
You can walk across the street to the harbor, again to rest or read and of course, the beach is just 400 yards away. So close, with chairs already there, you just need to show up! Enjoy!
