Summer:

Drive thirty minutes away for the high altitude lakes of Lake Alpine or Spicer Meadow, Utica and Union Reservoir.

Walk to Big Trees Village Recreation Area, 10 passes included in Dave's Den: At Big Trees Village you can enjoy the two swimming pools, tennis court, basketball court, picnic tables and BBQ's, various games, and a snack hut.

You can hike in Calaveras Big Trees State Park, 4 miles away. Hike the Arnold Rim Trial head, 7 miles away at Arnold.

Fish, boat, water play, swim, or picnic at White Pines Lake.

Whitewater Rafting down the Stanislaus River.

Moaning and Mercer caverns 30 minutes away.

Visit wine tasting in Murphy's.

Winter:

30 minutes from Bear Valley Ski Resort. Bear Valley expected open date November 29th, 2024 - April 2025

Go do some snow play, there are snow toys in the basement.

Hang out at the den. Very quite neighborhood. Hang out and BBQ on the deck, serve a big meal at the dinner table, enjoy streaming movie on large screen TV., play a game of pool, throw some darts, play some board games with the family or friends, or just hang out on the deck and enjoy the wilderness.

Close by is Camp Connell General Store. The Lube Room is a great hang out, pizza, hamburger, and beer.

Quick drive to Arnold. Bistro Espresso for breakfast or coffee options. My favorite is Giant Burger.

West end of Arnold is Big Trees Market. This shopping mall includes many other stores.

Splendid!!!

Can’t say enough about how great our stay was at Dave’s Den. Super clean inside, plenty of space for two families with big kids and room to spare. The bonus room with the poker table, pool table, darts, and drum set were so awesome, and not just for the kids. It’s about a 35 minute drive to Bear Valley for skiing. Leaving by 8:15 gets you to the slopes by 9:00 in plenty of time. Dave was extremely communicative and even left us surprise welcome treats. We would definitely come back. Thanks for everything, Dave.

Great Stay & Great Host!

David could not have been a better host! He was understanding and very communicative throughout the entire process. The cabin was thoughtfully furnished with so many games, kids toys, and even an electronic drum set. Our two boys loved playing with all the toys, and the legos and building sets kept them busy for days. We also used the winter tubes and sleds provided by David to go sledding. We will definitely go back next year and are already looking forward to it!

Excellent Chill Pad

Dave was super communicative. Very easy to deal with, very helpful and available. We didn’t need him for anything at all, from the time we booked until we were in the cabin he was available. He even checked in to make certain all was well. And it was, even better than the listing suggested.

Great for families!

My family loved this home! The area is beautiful, there's lots to do nearby. We went to the recreation center for a bit to swim but it was too crowded. What else would you expect on labor day weekend though, right? However, the house was so fun that the kids didn't even care! They hardly wanted to leave. The game room was a hit, there were activities and games for all ages. We had ages 5-73 and there was plenty to do for everyone. Everything was very clean and beautiful and the kitchen was fully stocked with the essentials. All in all, it was a wonderful labor day weekend and we can't wait to go back sometime!

Wonderful family summer vacation

We had a wonderful summer vacation in this house. It is in a very quiet and cozy location with incredibly friendly people. A community pool with free access for renters is a 10-minute walk away. White Pines Lake, which has a sandy beach, playground, and basketball/tennis courts, is just a 15-minute drive away. Lake Alpine and Spicer Meadow Reservoir are about a 40-minute drive away, but they are worth a visit for those who love exploring rocky islands. Calaveras Big Trees Park and many trails are nearby. The house was very clean and well-prepared for our arrival. In the kitchen, you will find all the necessary appliances and dishes, including a coffee maker, dishwasher, and an oven with an air fryer. Everything is in perfect condition, so cooking was a pleasure! The loft has a huge space filled with games for everyone. All the bedrooms have new beds, and the bathrooms are fully equipped with all necessary accessories. Note that the internet is quite weak during business hours, and no coverage from AT&T or T-Mobile. There is no AC, but even when the forecast says 95°F outside, the house only warms up to 80°F. The owner responded quickly to our messages, and our stay was hassle-free. We really liked it, so we will definitely come back.

Lovely Cabin

This neighborhood has cabins that are larger than Arnold, and further apart. Camp Connell is slightly higher elevation than Arnold and stays cooler, it also will get more snow in the Winter

What makes this property unique

Big Trees Village is a big amenity - there are 10 passes for the guest. You can walk their or short drive. They have two pools, all sorts of courts and games and picnic area. Great place to cool off.
