Dirty

The cabin was unclean. Cobwebs everywhere dead flowers in a vase near the kitchen. All four corner of the shower had large cob webs in them. Dead bugs in the bathroom sink. AND THE SMELL!!! Mold or mildew or just plain gross! If the cabin had been sanitary all be it small it would have been an enjoyable stay. The host who lives 20 feet from the front door has "junk" piled up between the buildings. Surprised VRBO put their name to this cabin.

The “cabin” is a small, renovated storage shed in someone’s backyard. It’s maybe 100ft from the main house and the entire yard is full of junk and run down buildings. We ended up leaving and staying elsewhere because the condition of the outside of the property was so poor. Even if you get past the outward appearance there is absolutely no privacy and it is far from serene as described in the listing. We contacted Vrbo and sent photos in an attempt to get a refund but the owner was “unreachable” after several attempts so we just gave up. Horrible experience that very nearly ruined our trip!

Completely disgusting

Got to the property early, I'm a elderly disabled service connected veteran, to see if we could check in early, driveway was tight. My wife stayed in the car and I thought I'd walk up to the property. There was mattress's, doors, bikes, old broke down snowmobiles, and garbage. It literally looked like a junkyard! I got up to the door. The light was on, door was open and I yelled in Hello is anybody there? No answer and the smell was bad. I can see why the door was open, The host house is literally 15 ft from the door ( Only one door on the cottage) Told my wife there's no way we can stay here. Told vrbo how bad this was. They called the host and we had talked while we were sitting in the truck in the driveway. They said they still had time to clean up and get rid of the smell inside and move all this trash and junk from the yard! A 100 people couldn't move that junk. Talked to vrbo and they said they couldn't do anything until check in.Came back, still had a smell. Only one phone could get on Wi-Fi. Big hairball in shower, no hair dryer, no hand towels, one fork and plastic spoons, futon filthy, Steep bank to the water, no beach! Outside chairs filthy. I would not bring a trailer (We Left) (Told vrbo) Host text me with threatening message by telling me if I write a bad review on the property that she was going to have the police sent to my front door and arrest me for trespassing for coming to the property early! I have pictures to prove it. Trying not to give a refund.

About the host

Hi! I’m from Ann Arbor, having an up north cabin is a dream. Lakefront and in the woods yet quick to town and freeways, ski & golf resorts.

Why they chose this property

Relaxed and quite serene, it feels like the Upper Peninsula and that Hemingway would be at home here. Scattering of log homes and cabins with a few newer ones on 3/4-3 acre lots.

What makes this property unique

Enjoy your own vintage cabin all updated tastefully, with 96’ lakefront and beach and nearly an acre of wooded property with sweeping views, circle driveways and plenty of parking.
