The Barn is located in a rural setting 30 minutes drive north of Ottawa, Canada’s capital. It is often used for family reunions, group gatherings, retreats and is available over weekends and longer.

The home is a converted barn, inviting and warm with century exposed beams and a large fireplace. It is very spacious, able to sleep 15 people. Ideal for large groups and families. There are three full bathrooms and parking for 12 vehicles.

The property has many walking trails and is adjacent to Gatineau Park. Bordered on the north by Lac Gauvreau and on the south by the La Peche River, this idyllic property is a great place to relax or use as a base to explore Ottawa, the village of Wakefield and the Gatineau Hills.

Another Great Stay

Another wonderful week at Le Barn. Many thanks to our hosts! Just the kind of cozy, quaint and peaceful atmosphere we need for our extended family of 13 people! Lots of room for visiting and eating together with a large dining room (seats 12 easily) and a well-appointed kitchen with everything one needs to cook a satisfying family meal - even a dishwasher to help with cleanup. Close to tubing/skiing (Edelweiss, Vorlage), hiking, cross country skiing and snow shoeing (Gatineau Park), outdoor skating (Patinage en Foret, Rideau Canal, Ottawa), Poutine and other great food (including sugar bushes within an hours' drive), there is always something to explore. And if you're ever bored (unlikely) there is a book there for you. Promise. See you again...

Team Hardwood loved their stay at The Barn

This was a great place for our team to stay for a training camp. We have stayed here before in the Wylie XC ski races but this was the first time in the summer. We had great access to th Gatineau Park for training. The setup was perfect for our team. Very cozy and warm atmosphere. Great hosts. Looking forward to coming back again next year

Excellent Place!

This place was the perfect set up for our family get together. We were able to have lunches at the house for thirteen of us with enough seating and dish-ware. We loved the history of the Barn and the character. Interesting books and beautiful artwork. Treasures from around the world in every room. It felt like home! Highly recommend this place for a family gathering. John and Hannah also responded quickly to any communications we had .

Cozy and Welcoming for large families/groups

This was our second time staying at Le Barn, first time in the colder weather. We had a great time again and it was great to step back into a familiar environment and know exactly what we were getting in this unique and rustic venue. Thank you to our hosts who were able to answer questions quickly and thought of everything we would need for our stay. We really appreciated cozy fires in the evening; there were trails a-plenty for walking during the beautiful weather we had, and lots of space for 10 of us to enjoy each other's company (while hosting local relatives for evening visits) without feeling like we were on top of each other. The furniture and beds are comfortable, the facilities are well taken care of and clean, and the kitchen easily allowed us to cook for 10 people daily with a variety of cookware and utensils. We were very impressed overall once again.

Another great stay at Le Barn

My women's group had another great stay at Le Barn. We skied and hiked from the house. The house is clean and well stocked with all the necessities. It is the perfect location for large groups and family getaways, with plenty of room to spread out and make noise without bothering others in adjacent rooms. Hosts are great, with excellent communication. Great!!

A perfect place for family at Christmas

What an amazing place and the whole family said we couldn't have had a better place! Beds comfy, bathrooms plenty and perfect for bathers and those who prefer showers. Kitchen was amazing! We are a family of cooks and all agreed it was well appointed. The surrounding fields, rivers, and forests were perfect for little ones and serious hikers. Evenings in front of the fireplace (cocklestove from Germany) with books from the numerous bookshelves was absolutely wonderful. Thank you Hannah and John!

I sincerely want to thank Hannah and John for opening up the Barn to visitors. The Barn is a family heirloom, passed down for generations. Walking into it felt like being welcomed into a part of their rich family history. The setting is idyllic and the Barn has its own charm and character. Both John and Hannah are friendly, flexible, responsive and reasonable people. A delight to deal with. Our families and friends genuinely had a great time connecting, relaxing and be rejuvenated. We highly recommend the Barn especially for large gathering and we definitely would love to come back again.

Perfect getaway for big family

We had hoped to spend time with our family of 12 checking out Ottawa and the nearby small towns—this property was so beautiful, we never left during our stay! We hiked, played indoors and outdoors, and enjoyed the charming atmosphere of this fantastic home. The unique spaces allow for quiet reflection, small group activities like crafts and puzzles, as well as large activities like meals together and large games. The beds are very comfortable, which is a huge plus, and there are many available to accommodate a big group. Three washrooms means nobody is ever waiting in a lineup. The kitchen was fully equipped—just bring your food and everything you need is there for preparation and serving. We only wish we could have brought our dogs so we could have stayed longer!!

Perfect for Large Families

The struggle is real to find a place that is priced reasonably and able to fit the bill when you're vacationing with a lot of people. Le Barn is just a gem of a property to stay at for families with many kids or extended families looking to stay together. It easily accommodated 14 of us (6 adults, 8 kids). The atmosphere is warm and cozy, there are many beds in 4 bedrooms that offer a variety of configurations, the kitchen is well-stocked (we made most of our meals and ate in, had family over for pot-luck etc.) and the fridge is large for bringing and storing your food. The dining area is also generous with many plates, bowls, and plenty of cutlery. Dishwasher? Yes! There seemed to be a new discovery around every corner: the games closet, the many different book titles on the shelves, the walking trails with flowers and butterflies and the little ponds where my kids caught frogs. I can't say enough about Hannah and John - they were courteous and professional and answered all my questions quickly and precisely. Close to the Lac Phillipe entrance to Gatineau Park, close to Poutine and burgers etc. (Patate Carlo) and surprisingly cool in the summer with all the shade trees despite no A/C (never got above 22C in July). We were always comfortable (there are plenty of fans provided and great airflow through the windows). Thank you - We look forward to our next stay!

Absolutely perfect

We couldn’t have hoped for a better rental for our family. Our son got married in Ottawa, and all of us wanted to stay together. So there were 16 of us staying at le Barn. There were enough comfortable beds, enough, clean linens, enough, dishes, and serving platters, Enough different areas and chairs to relax or play games. We stayed for five nights. The only improvement I could possibly make would be a bigger freezer space. With so many of us on such a hot weekend there was a need for ice cream and freezies as well as the meal items that needed to be kept frozen until used. But, we made do. It was lovely and we would rent again for sure.

Amazing house, location and host

The house was fantastic, with too many amenities to name. It felt like they thought of everything a large group could need. With the ability to ski out the door or drive a very short distance to groomed trails, it is ideally situated for skiers. The drive to Ottawa is an easy 25 minutes to enjoy museum and charming neighborhoods and pubs. Wakefield is just a few minutes away, with good pubs and live music. The host was friendly and responsive. Altogether a wonderful experience! We will go back!

Fantastic Christmas
