GUIDELINES FOR BRINGING 4-LEGGED GUESTS
Dogs ONLY
2 small dogs or 1 medium dog, MAX
Our fee is $40/pet, which will be requested with your confirmed reservation.

We charge a $40.00 pet fee/pet. We hope you find this fee fair and reasonable as we take on additional responsibilities by adding furry guests to your reservation.

To ensure a smooth experience, we ask owners to bring along their dogs with the following understanding.

1. Dogs are 100% house-trained. Traveling dogs can get anxious and confused, causing accidents even for a house-trained dog.

***If your dog pees inside, this will cause a great deal of confusion for future dogs staying as they may pee on top of your dog's pee, causing upset for everyone. When arriving, please immediately introduce the yard to your dog to establish where the potty is located.***

2. Pets are well-behaved and good-natured **NO aggressive dogs allowed**
3. Pets are not left alone in the Sailor Room. Given the shared property, barking dogs will disturb other guests staying in adjacent guest rooms.
4. Owners clean up outside after their pets
5. Owners keep their pets on a leash when appropriate, as Mystic is a busy place.

Behind our property is a great field to walk your dog!

We've had wonderful experiences accommodating traveling pets! However, if your pet damages any property, we will use your security deposit to cover the cost. (though this has never happened yet:)

If you're considering bringing your dog and are fine with the pet rules/guidelines, please confirm you have read and agree to the rules in your booking message to me at the time of confirmation.

Quick getaway to visit family

We stayed in the salty sailor. When we arrived there was some apple pie waiting. This room was super cute and soooo many little touches to make your stay that much better. I can't wait to come back with my husband to check out the area.

Beautiful, quintessential Mystic, CT Room and Board

Such an inviting place to stay. The room was beautiful, the apple pie was great, and we were only a 5-10 min drive to Downtown Mystic. The room was even prepped for our dog with bowls and a toy! Thank you!

Perfect for a long weekend

My partner and I booked an overnight stay at The Salty Sailor. Leading up to our visit, Debbie shared a lot of helpful info about local attractions and restaurants, in addition to thorough details about our accommodation itself. We loved the cozy, quaint feel of the space–upon stepping in for the first time, we felt instantly comfortable and at home. Everything was meticulously prepared and there was a personalized greeting card as well as slices of apple pie left out for our arrival. We had everything we needed for our stay, and would recommend it to anyone for a getaway to Mystic.

Great get away

My husband and I booked a room last minute for a get away weekend. Our room was very nice, very clean and very comfortable. The grounds were just as lovely as our room. We have already booked another one of their properties with our family later this summer.

New England Adventure

What a lovely property! The Salty Sailor was the last of our 10 day trip to New England. The room was clean and Debbie had thought of everything - she even provided the decaf coffee requested. The property was easy to find and convenient to the Mystic seaport. Debbie was responsive and it was obvious that she really enjoys accommodating travelers.

Wonderful place to stay

My wife and I very much enjoyed our stay. Every need and detail was attended to. We loved the Apple pie that had been put out for us. The bedroom and bathroom were extremely clean. The chairs and bed were exceptionally comfortable. It is in a very quiet neighborhood. The only thing we heard were the birds and the Sunday morning church bells. It is our favorite place to stay when in the Mystic area. It deserves a 5 star review.

So adorable and quaint!

Arrived 4 hours earlier and my communication wasn't clear as I was replying to a computer generated email and the messages didn't make it. I wanted to know what an early check in would have cost and there was reception issues but we ended up paying for a whole other day. That was the only hiccup! This place was absolutely more than advertised! This gem was quiet, a place to walk my dog who was with us for a wedding and decorated beyond words and certainly thought. The pie along with all of things that you may have forgotten and coffee, tea, fridge etc were so helpful! I have referred my friends there to send people to this charmer!

About the host

Hosted by Debbie and Paul Bied

Host profile image
A once devoted full-time mother, I’ve now embarked on a fresh voyage – opening the doors of our storied properties to kindred spirits from near and distant shores.

Our shared passion is uncovering historic gems, whether preserving the essence of our own vacation homes or seeking solace in other historic havens during our travels.

Our hearts are firmly anchored in the past, and we enjoy bringing guests along with us when they stay at one of our Mystic homes.

Why they chose this property

My husband and I have always loved this property, which was once the Old Mystic Inn. Owning this beautiful it has been a dream come true! Some may wonder why we bought another home in our hometown. I guess it's a testament to how much we love the area!

Nestled in the heart of Old Mystic, the original settlement, our location is steeped in the quaintness and rich history that only this part of Mystic can offer. It's our cherished escape from the everyday hustle, providing a tranquil haven that whispers stories of the past.

Perfectly positioned, it allows effortless exploration of local attractions and offers a serene retreat from the lively buzz of downtown Mystic.

We fell in love with this neighborhood for its timeless charm and the sense of community that invites you to slow down and savor the moments. Our guests find it to be a perfect backdrop for making lasting memories, where the peaceful surroundings and scenic beauty enhance every experience.

Whether you're returning from a day of adventure or seeking a quiet corner to unwind and relax in your private guest room for the day, we believe you'll be quite happy~ even just hanging out reading, relaxing, or watching a movie. Old Mystic is a place where every moment becomes a treasure :-)

What makes this property unique

Step into the enchanting heart of New England hospitality, where each room holds tales anchored in the 1800s. Journey through stories of ship smiths, coopers, whispering woodcarvers, meticulous riggers, and the daring adventures of sailors and whalers.

Our Mystic private guest rooms artfully bridge time, weaving historical tales into present-day experiences so you can treat yourself to some old-fashioned hospitality reminiscent of a homemade apple pie’s comforting warmth and sweetness.

When my husband and I first walked into the Carriage House and saw the adorable private guest rooms, we felt instantly taken by its charm and character, and we think you will, too!

Time away is a rare gem, and our mission is to ensure your Mystic vacation is as perfect as it can be. Think nostalgic charm combined with modern amenities for 21st-century comfort and a splash of pure, homegrown hospitality to make your stay the most relaxing it can be.
