About this property

Studio 3A, The Carriage House, York 5m. Village.

Summary:
This beautiful studio is within a stunning converted barn in the beautiful North Yorkshire village of Bilbrough. There are vaulted ceilings and exposed beams throughout and it has been recently renovated to an extremely high standard. Plenty of walks in open countryside to be enjoyed with four public footpaths in the village.. It’s only 6 miles into central York ,10 minutes by car from the Designer Outlet Village and six minutes to the Park & Ride (Askham Bar) for York.

The Space:
200 year old barn - originally a Carriage House, set in beautiful open countryside yet only two minutes from the A64 and four miles from York. Ideally located for York Races and a five minute drive from The Normans wedding venue. It is a ten minute drive from Woolas Barn wedding venue and 15 minutes from both Hornington Manor and Priory Cottages. The village is quiet with little traffic and therefore a safe environment for children. There is a small but lovely playground in the village. Storage for bicycles can be arranged by request.

There is a sofa bed as well as the king sized bed, allowing accommodation for four guests. Standard occupancy is two guests. Additional guests are charged at £30 per person per night. Please note that if two guests are staying and require bedding for the sofa bed then a £10 fee is charged to cover the laundry costs.

Please note also that The Carriage House is over 200 years old. It is not a modern building! We have retained as many original features as possible. Sound can travel between the apartments; we clearly state this and ask for 'quiet hours' in our house rules. You might just be able to hear sound from the apartment below. That said, the only noise you will hear externally is the sound of owls and foxes and possibly a tractor. There are no rowdy pub/club goers, very (very!) little traffic and no sirens or music.

Our new Relaxation And Wellness Space (RAWS) has an Aspen 5/6 seater hot tub, a lounging area with a fire pit and a dining area with gas bbq - all under wooden gazebos. There is a sun terrace, yoga studio, fully fitted kitchen and bathroom plus a spacious decking area. This facility is available to book and is a perfect space for up to 30 guests. We hold regular yoga classes, retreats, parties and events here. Prices start from £300 for a full day (12 noon to 10pm). You can book the Hot Tub only but a minimum charge of £50 applies as the tub has to be emptied, cleaned, refilled and reheated between guests.

Guest Access:
The whole studio is for guests' use. The studio is on the second floor. There is a communal staircase.

The Neighborhood:
Village park (enclosed) with play equipment. Lots of good walks from the doorstep. We can provide secure storage for bicycles.

For late arrivals, we are three minutes by car from a petrol station with all essentials, plus a McDonald’s and a Starbucks on the A64.

Getting Around:
There is parking at the property. There is a village bus into York and the Coastliner operates every half an hour (Leeds/York/Malton/Scarborough). The stop for this is only a 10 minute walk.

The best way to see York is to use the Park and Ride Service at Askham Bar (a six minute drive from The Carriage House).

The village bus timetable can be found by searching for York Pullman Bus Number 37.

The Coastliner bus timetable can be found by searching Yorkbus Coastliner. you need the 840/843 York/Leeds service.

Other Things to Note:
We provide tea, coffee, sugar, a pint of milk, a loaf of bread, butter, jam and eggs. We also provide cooking oil, tin foil and kitchen towel. We do not cook or serve breakfast.

Hand soap, shampoo and conditioner are provided for your use along with a bath towel and hand towel per person.

We also have a selection of provisions in the apartment for you to purchase such as wine, beer, soft drinks and crisps. This operates on an honesty system and we ask that you leave the money for any items in the box provided.

Dogs are welcome by PRIOR ARRANGEMENT ONLY. There is a charge of £20 per stay. Maximum one medium/large dog or two small dogs.

Nearest pubs are The Nag's Head at Askham Bryan and The White Swan at Wighill.

Why they chose this property

The Carriage House is unique in that it is a property in a rural village, set in open countryside whilst also being very close to most major towns and cities in North Yorkshire. The best of both worlds.
