The Cozy Moose Cabin awaits you!! Located on Buck Mountain, a private gated community, this Pet Free/Smoke Free cabin is located only 20 minutes from Boone! Blowing Rock is only 30 minutes away via the scenic Blue Ridge Parkway. The Cozy Moose Cabin sits on 10.5 acres and affords you the privacy you may be seeking for a vacation of reconnecting or a vacation of disconnecting from the rest of the world. The property is easily accessible without a four wheel drive vehicle but it is suggested in the winter months when snow is on the ground. While we love Fluffy and Fido, pets are NOT allowed at this property as the owner is extremely allergic. This is also a NON SMOKING/NON VAPING property.
The Buck Mountain Community features a relaxing waterfall, a small stocked pond (catch and release only) and hiking trails.

Beautiful Cabin

We stayed 2 nights at the Cozy Moose in March 2025. The cabin is beautifully decorated and has a gorgeous mountain view out of the downstairs bedroom, kitchen, dining room and basement. The house was immaculately clean and was very comfortable. Communication with the owner about roads and possible inclement weather was excellent. Responses were timely and very helpful. These owners take pride in their property, and it shows. We would gladly stay here again.

Unfortunately, we had booked The Cozy Moose the week after Helene hit the area. I contacted Tammy and Joe right after the storm to see if the cabin was even reachable. They were at the cabin when contacted and they gave us options about how to handle the situation...our choice. We ended up visiting even though we knew the cabin didn't have electricity when we started our trip. The electricity wasn't restored, but the cabin ran on a generator. We still really enjoyed it. The cabin has an amazing view of the mountains that changes throughout the day. Tammy and Joe were great to work with on the whole situation. It is truly a great place to get away for a while.

Work trip

Perfect location to work uninterrupted and close enough to some fun things to do on breaks. Cabin is beautiful, clean, and there's no beating the mountain view.

Short getaway

My husband and I had a nice little getaway at the Cozy Moose Cabin. It had everything we needed (except for good weather). LOL. The kitchen was well-stocked with pots, pans and utensils and the bedding was very comfortable. The owners were quick to answer any questions I had before and during our stay. I would rent it again in a heartbeat.

Nice cabin on Moose Mountain

Very nice cabin facing West with the mist breathtaking sunsets. Cabin had every you would want to relax in solitude. Nice trails to walk as part of the resort with hammocks to rest by the creeks if you have the time to do so. Cabin was as advertised and all the reviews on this place are accurate. Nice clean place. One of the best we have rented on VRBO!

Great retreat in the mountains

A weekend away in this cabin was the perfect way to start the summer. Be sure to check out the waterfall that is just a 10-minute drive away.

Early fall trip

Loved this cabin!

This is absolutely one of the best rentals ever! We were very satisfied with everything. The cabin is very clean, has everything you need to make your stay relaxing and enjoyable. We will look here first when we get back to this part of North Carolina. We are very happy we chose the Cozy Cabin! Just great all the way around!

Cozy & Comfortable Cabin

This cabin is adorable and very clean. Furnishings were comfortable and the kitchen was well stocked with everything you might need. We loved having coffee on the porch in the mornings and watching the sun set over the mountains in the evening. Definitely will keep this one on our “visit again” list!

The house was not misrepresented, kitchen was well equipped, the house more than lived up to expectations.The only thing I would add is if you come up in inclamate weather, just stay in the cabin, the roads are brutal.We stayed put, had plenty of food and could not have been happier

Peaceful Cabin

The Cozy Moose was a great getaway for me and my cousin - the location was ideal for hiking and day trips to West Jefferson and Blowing Rock. This place was super clean! We would recommend this cabin and rent it again. Tammy and Joe were quick to respond and a pleasure to work with. Thank you both for this gem of a cabin.

Great cabin!

The communication from the host was wonderful! We have been to the area many times, but had never visited West Jefferson. We took the recommendation from the owners and visited the cute town. It was pouring down rain, but we were still able to visit several shops. The cabin had everything we needed, including a generator when we lost power during a storm! Highly recommend!

Over the last several years my wife and I have stayed at 6 or 7 VRBO listing and The Cozy Moose Cabin was by far the cleanest and best maintained property that we've stayed at. Getting to the cabin can be interesting. We followed GPS directions on or arrival. Don't do that. Follow the directions you receive from Tammy and Joe. As for Tammy and Joe, they were excellent host. Quiet retreat

We were looking for a quiet retreat in the mountains, but with amenities like wifi, TV, AC etc. That's what we found at Cozy Moose Cabin. We stayed for several days. The kitchen is well stocked with everything you need to prepare meals, which is important to us since we pretty much do all our own cooking. The cabin was very, very clean. Everything worked well, except maybe for the entry gate code box, but the owners left clear instructions on what to do if we had a problem. When we had a problem with the TV, I called Joe and he responded right away. It was a regional blackout of service, which the service provider resolved after a few hours. It was good to know what was going on (so it wasn't anything in the cabin) and I appreciate Joe's quick response in letting us know. We did not hear any noise (or any sound at all) from neighbors, and while it is a community, no other houses were within sight of the cabin. I recommend it for anyone looking for a cozy romantic getaway.

We fell in love with the High Country years ago and have been renting cabins for many years prior to buying one of our own.

Why they chose this property

We found it was always very hard to find a less expensive cabin for quick weekend getaways - they always seemed to be geared towards a larger group for the rental. This cabin only has two bedrooms and two baths but it is 1,550 square feet and affords some room to move around and not feel cramped. And it comes with a great view!

What makes this property unique

This cabin is located on 10.5 acres and is very quiet but very easy to access. It is serene and peaceful and it allows you to turn off your brain and just relax :-)
