4wd cabin on top of the hill

The cabin is very nice, the listing is very accurate, we enjoyed our time. The initial 2/3rds of the the driveway is not bad, the last 1/3rd is the part that definitely requires a 4 wheel drive (and a little maintenance). It appears that the rain does a number on it but if a couple of water bars were added to assist with the run off I don’t think it would be near as bad and may even be accessible in any vehicle. The loft upstairs is very large and made a nice master getaway room.

Cabin

Overall the cabin was a nice weekend getaway, if you don’t have a 4 wheel drive vehicle DO NOT BOOK! We did have a 4WD, however our truck still had issues getting up the driveway after the rain. There was an overflow of stink bugs and ladybugs in the cabin. Lastly the water was Well Water and if you aren’t used to the smell of well water it will be off putting. The hot tub, fire-pit, and pool table made the stay amazing. The cabin is a 30-40 minute drive to other big towns, including Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge.

Great secluded get away.

Great place to stay. Driveway was rough and hot tub could use a new cover, but really enjoyed our vacation. Would not hesitate to book again.

50th b-day

The initial property we booked came with a last min warning about needing a four wheel drive which we didn't have. I spoke to property manager and they agreed to a switch. We actually stayed at The boondocks and it was just as listed. Thank you for a great stay

Secluded

Best part was we weren’t on top of other cabins. In fact we couldn’t see another cabin. You definitely need four wheel drive or you won’t be getting up there. Couldn’t be outside much a lot of hornet and wasp nest on lower and upper deck. Washer was a problem the whole time. Other than that good cabin to stay at. Wish the tvs worked better and there was one down stairs.

Not what we expected

We were unable to make it up to the cabin in our vehicle and had to rent a car which wasn’t what we expected. There was a flood warning while we were there which made the journey to and from the cabin more difficult. There were wasps in the cabin as well as around the hot tub so we didn’t want to use the hot tub. The water smelled terrible and the beds were not comfortable. The wifi didn’t work well at all.

Life Savers and Great Fun!

Property is not as open as the images on the listing, but still a great place. A few hiccups to start with, but property manager was more than willing to assist. Such a great and valuable team, can't brag on Kacy enough! She and Luis were life savers to say the least when we were on the side of a mountain with 2 dead batteries! Great family fun and the pool table was enjoyed by all. Room for the pool table could be a little larger for some shooting angles, but it works for a good challenge. Would definitely stay with Smoky Vistas.

Woodland Chalet

It was a beautiful place to stay. The gravel road was a little intimidating but easy enough to maneuver in a four-wheel-drive truck. My daughter has a Chevy Trax and made it just fine up and down the road. My only complaint was the sulfur smell when turning on the water faucets and showers. But overall, a great place to stay. We attending a wedding right down the road.

Dont attempt without 4WD

Well, we were a bit soured by the dangerous drive into the property. They should warn you. You need a 4WD vehicle...after getting stuck and having to back/slide down several times...we decided to not destroy our car and rent a vehicle...this really cut into our vacation fund leaving us unable to do a few of the things we drove 8 hours to do. The hot tub was dirty and about a foot low, so that was pretty disappointing...again, another reason we booked was to use a hottub...but we never did...the last major inconvenience was the carpenter bee infestation on the front deck...(the nice sunny deck i wanted to sit on but couldnt due to swarming bees)...it states there are walking trails on the property, but we couldnt find any....so the positives ..relatively clean...very peaceful...good internet for streaming movies in living room...very comfortable beds...we loved the area and if they could clean the hot tub, we would stay again...but we would be sure to bring our truck....and bee spray...

Mountain house!

We loved this house. I took 4 kids over spring break. So- the driveway is insane. You will feel like you are driving straight up. It didn’t bother me after making the sharp turns the first time. The house is laid out very well, the bathrooms (especially upstairs) are very nice. The only thing with the master is it is loft style and doesn’t close off if you were expecting privacy. The view in the morning tho is gorgeous. We spent a lot of time in the sun on the deck and enjoyed the hot tub. We’re from the country, so lack of a lot of lighting was not an issue, but I did notice solar lights on the rails, but they never came on at night. It is about 30 minutes to tourist attractions, and gps wants to take you down some crazy mountain roads, just plot your route yourself if that scares you. The cabin is 4 minutes from Boyd’s Creek. They had a FABULOUS Italian restaurant- mama mias that was convenient. Would definitely stay again, after running around all day, it was perfect to come home and relax in peace. Good internet. There are minor fixes and wear that need done, nails on the deck, lightbulbs, carpets and walls have marks on them, I’m a landlord so that kind of comes with the territory, but the bedding, baths, and kitchen were clean. The washer thumped horrible, but didn’t effect the cycle, just loud.

Family Reunion.

Our mission was to find a midway point for two 60+ brothers and wives to get together. This was a wonderfully quiet place where the family was able to hang out and reconnect. We were close to the interstate and the main tourist attraction road. But we were pleasantly away from all the “tourist stuff” . The driveway was steep and exhilarating for a flat lander but the one used to hills didn’t think much of it. The area around the cabin was beautiful in early spring. I bet it smells awesome a little later in the year when all the honeysuckle around blooms. We would look into staying here again.

Make Sure Your Car Has 4-Wheel Drive

The cabin was great and exactly as described. Very beautiful clean and comfortable. If you are visiting during the winter months, be careful. The one-way road to the cabin is almost at a 90 degree angle and is in desperate need of repaving. It snowed during our visit in January which turned into wet, sloshy mud. Because of the damage to the road/driveway our car got stuck and we had to back down the mountain and walk up at night in the dark. It was cold and rainy and horrible. Definitely wish there was more description about actually getting to the property. It's very dangerous and something needs to be done to make it safer for people renting the property. I wish it was a safer drive, because we would rent the house every season for our yearly trip. Unfortunately, because of the drive we won't be returning.

We loved the cabin!!!

House was exactly what we expected and a little more! Communication was superb with property manager. We had a slight issue with the washer and a repairman was sent quickly. The kids enjoyed watching the fireworks from the deck each night.

My experience smh

When turning on the water it stunk up the whole house. Smelled like a sewage, contacted the property people they brought us WATER. We had to wash up with bottle of water and cook with it the whole entire stay. They gave me back 200$ Which was okay should have been more. The hot tub water was filthy. The house itself was nice. They said it was a king bed on the description and they all were queen.
