House trained dogs and cats that are pre approved are allowed! Pet fee is $100 per 10 nights. No puppies allowed. Pets must be crated when left unattended. Pets must be supervised when in the backyard and may not be left in the backyard unattended. $50 pet waste fee will be applied if pets are not cleaned up after. Pets must be pre approved or a fine of double the pet fee per night will be applied.

Please note while the home is cleaned very thoroughly between stays and air filters changed regularly, we do allow dogs at the home. Those with severe allergies will need to consider our home’s suitability for their unique needs.

30+ day stays require background check, lease, and deposit after booking. Booking will be canceled if not completed. All stays over 30 days are brokered by Sojourn Realty.

Please note lawn care and trash service may come on the premises during your stay. Days and times vary, please inquire if you need more specifics on when to expect these services to take place during your stay.

HOUSE RULES:

- No smoking allowed (weed or cigarettes) - evidence will incur a $500 minimum fine. Please smoke away from the home away from windows or doors and dispose of cigarette butts properly.

- Any visitors must also be listed in the guest count. Minimum fine of $50 per person per night will apply for any undisclosed guests. The city is strict about maximum occupancy including visitors and we cannot allow more than the max guest count at any one time.

- Please observe a 9 p.m.- 8 a.m. quiet hour for our neighbors. They are our utmost priority to continue to operate short term rentals for years to come. Noise violations are taken seriously and will have one courtesy warning before removal without repayment for nights unspent.

- Our place is not for parties. $500 minimum fine for parties. A party is defined by any more than 10 occupants in the home at any one time. No refund will be given for nights unspent if we are forced to terminate the reservation due to a party. We want you to have a great time with up to 10 guests in the house maximum, including any visitors. This is a residential area and our neighbors rely on us not to disrupt the community. We want to continue to do short term rentals for a long time so please help us respect our neighbors.

- Please note while the home is cleaned very thoroughly between stays and air filters changed regularly, we do allow dogs at the home. Those with severe allergies will need to consider our home’s suitability for their unique needs.

- No refunds will be given for COVID-19 or weather related cancellations. Please consider purchasing trip insurance that covers any unforeseen circumstances. Please note during hurricane season our area is prone to inclement weather.

- $75 per hour charge for not checking out on time. Please communicate if you need more time, if we can accommodate we will not charge a fee.

- If our property has a grill, please clean after use to avoid an extra $75 grill cleaning charge.

- Ice makers are an extra amenity and no refunds will be given if they are not functioning properly.

- If equipment is used that would make the utilities charge become excessive, that will be charged back to the renter.

- Any cleaning or maintenance issues must be addressed to the host. We must be able to attempt to fix the issue before offering refunds. If an issue is not addressed during the stay, no refunds will be provided.

- Stays over 60 days will require a clean every 30 days included in your booking fee.

- An application, screening, signed lease and deposit is required for 90+ day rentals-please inquire for more details. Bookings over 90 days are brokered by Sojourn Realty.

- Guest agrees to complete a third-party encrypted ID verification independent of the platform booked on for security purposes. If the guest does not complete the verification or the host is not comfortable with the screening results, host may cancel the reservation with full refund to the guest.

- Please note that we do not do shoveling or snow removal. Use caution in case of these situations, as we are not to be held liable.

Sheila’s by the Sea! Best family house ever!

Great stay at Sheila’s by the sea. Plenty of room for family. Big kitchen and living room that is close to beach and Bay Oak Park. Bedrooms are great! Had everything you need for stay!! The property manager Sierra was amazing!!! So responsive.

Early Family Christmas

My son recently moved to Norfolk with the Navy. My daughter and her partner and my husband and I came to see his new home and spend holiday time together. We spent lots of time playing games and eating together. The house is so roomy and bright and airy. We were close to things like the Botanical Gardens, Art Museum

Christmas Week - 2024

The property was exactly as “advertised” in photos - well appointed, extremely clean, spacious, very close to the beach, etc.Property management was fantastic and even stepped up to help when we inadvertently triggered a remote alarm. On Christmas Day, a manager helped us figure out and deactivate the alarm, and helped with a smile, a sense of humor and patience.As for neighborhood, I’m from Norfolk but haven’t lived there since college. As a rule when we visit home/family, we prefer to stay in Ocean View because you get beach access without the extreme tourist crowds and over-pricing of neighborhoods near the Virginia Beach oceanfront. East Ocean View has evolved for the better steadily over the years, and of all the parts of East Ocean View we’ve vacation-rented in, this was the best - cleanest, quietest, nicest (2/3 of the properties on this and surrounding blocks are new construction or nice/recent renovations). We felt comfortable and safe walking our dog in the neighborhood. The walk to the beach was less than 5 minutes.Everything was great! One very, very, very minor critique (but definitely nothing that changes our five-star review!): the house could use a few more kitchen utensils.
